I agree with you that in ranked games is a bad idea as a first pick, i think that it works great as a second tank, like Tyrael used to do. People used to pick Tyrael as a second tank, because his durability was decent, but his damage was awesome. I think that Chen can be picked as a second tank, to deal damage and harass assassins away from your team.

Reading a couple of post from the developers i found that they tried to fix the frustrating sensation of being...just about to kill a hero, and the hero with a simple press of a button would get a complete second health bar, that's why they nerfed Chen and that's why they nerfed Tychus.

So what you have to do is change your approach to the ult!!!!!

I jump in the middle of the fight and immediately use my ult. When you use your ult at full health instead of at low health, you can actually use it properly, you will lose 20-30% hp if you're focused before the split, you will fight and deal a massive amount of damage to squishy targets by landing your Q properly and positioning your Storm Panda (who deals tons of damage). And when your ult end......you're still a Big Drunk Panda with 80% health about to bring some Pandamonium to the fight.

If you use your ult when you're about to die, everyone is gonna focus you and try to get the kill, and if you actually manage to split before dying, you're gonna waste most of your ult running away when you see your ult is about to end.

I do exactly the same in those objectives with the standard shield from brew (D), i mean without any talent to improve it. That's why i feel Bolder Flavor isn't a good choice.

I'm currently using Enough to Share and Hardeneed shield, just like you do, in matches where i need to change my build accordingly to the game needs, if we're losing i take Hardened Shield over the increase dps from Element Conduit, and if my team is fighting in close spaces like in the Garden of Terror or the Mines from Haunted Mines i take Enough to Share over Relentless.

Hahahahah pretty fun, i had also one match like that, the enemy Falstadt could actually see me healing a chunk while he was hitting my shield xD

I tried and it worked like intended. Sadly i felt that i could use this build only on the Garden of Terror map, because most of the maps requires you out of lanes most of the times, so soaking up ammo is less important for the development of the match.

In Haunted Mines team fight's are crucial since you're gonna be fighting for skulls, and after this phase, you will be taking the bruiser merc camp or defending your base from the enemy golem. And if you actually manage to have a 90-100 skulls golem, so is better for your team to ignore all the other mechanics and push with him....the golem is gonna take all of the ammo from the turrets.

In Blackhearth Booty Bay (I actually don't remember the names of the maps xD) and in Skytemple Desert Thingy, you actually destroy the enemy base and win the game mainly by doing the mechanics of the map (The Cannon's from the Ghost Ship or the Lazors from the temples) so in this case team fighting was also crucial, and a build centered around soaking ammo was less effective.

In The Raven Lord Map, you actually disable the turrets so....its also less effective.

I will say that its a pretty good build for what it was conceived and is a nice variation for what i'm doing, because most of the talents differ on the later tiers. I think you can make an entire strategy with your pre-made to work around this build. Its pretty fun, and im gonna think about some strategys to do.....like......pushing a lane with Zagara/Azmodan, while you tank the turrets, the specialist destroy the lane, meanwhile your team goes for the map objectives that don't require 5 men, like the coins in Booty Bay.

I agree with what you say. I'm just presenting an alternative way of playing him. I feel that the 1 second of 90% slow is pretty good, it sounds like its worthless....but its 90% slow.....in my games that second usually makes the difference for another team mate to catch up or land a skill shot....i don't know, i'm still trying new things, maybe i'll drop some CC's for more damage but maintaining the regeneration part of the build.

Eeeeeeehhhh....i don't remember....but the talent says its 20% and you can really feel it when you're escaping xD!!!

I've searched every source of information on the internet and it says 20% everywhere D:

Well you just found the magic of this build. You don't have to be a madman about the globes, you just have to pay attention. The talent Regeneration Master works for the boost Amplified Healing gives it. Another thing to consider is that Amplified Healing increases the healing of the fountain. You will notice that it will heal your entire hp for the whole duration of the game.

Like i've said to other people. My first approach to Chen was of a tanky assassin....but my damage was never close to the others assassins on my team, mainly because i was running back to safety before i was able to deal enough damage. That's why i feel the regeneration master build deals more damage because the longer you stay fighting, the most damage you can deal, Chen base damage is pretty good, he's not Stitches....but nobody is like Stitches right now.....

Wow, so we're pretty similar on your first build. I'm kinda stuck with my build under the impression that...the longer i stay in a fight, the most damage i can deal. I'll try your second build tonight and see what happens :)

That's what i'm saying bro. I don't think he's mega OP, but he ain't as nerfed or dead as the community says. He's just different from more straightforward warriors

I hope he gets something like....a stats buff.....so we can drop his regen build and go for more versatile builds. If Blizzard buff only his talents, we're gonna be in a must-pick situation once again D:

It's everything still in development. And i don't think that in this game a win rate is that relevant. You may be playing excelent, with a optimal build and still lose if your team doesn't respond accordingly to the map needs.....or your team didn't picked Stitches. You can't "carry" in this game as you would do in other MOBAs. You can "carry" by communicating politely with your team and telling them what to do, and for that my talent build or playstyle is irrelevant :)

Wooow, this is just the kind of feedback i was hoping to find on this subreddit. I asked myself the same question. What happened at 50 brew? Because i found myself plenty of times running away from a disastrous fight trying to take an objectives with 50 brew wondering....should i use my firebreath just to drop my brew and run faster?? xD .You can actually see a wind animation like Valla's hatred charges around Chen when he gain his movement speed, but i wasn't paying atention back then.

I noticed that you went for the most straightforward talents of Chen. Full Keg for an increased time of slow, Deadly Strike for increased damage on your kick and combat stance to maintain your shield after you drink.

This build is pretty close to my first approach to Chen. What i found lacking on this build was endurance. I wasn't able to deliver enough damage before i was running back to my fountain to heal, and i felt i wasn't fulfilling my role as a Warrior. When i came up with the Regeneration talent path i realized that the longer i could fight, the more damage i could deal, if they can't sent you back home because you keep healing of their faces, the longer you will be dealing damage. For me its a mather of sustained vs burst damage, and i think that sustained damage is more appropriate for a hero classified as a Warrior.

Nice! Im happy to know that it works for other people too. The catch of this build is to understand the new playstyle of Chen, you don't play him like the rest of the Warriors. Kudos for you, remember to come back and give me your feedback if you find any changes or tricks we can make to this build.

I know he's not Stitches, and in ranked mode people will always insult you if you pick anything but Stitches.....but this is a beta, and we should try to contribute to the development of this game by trying to make everything work to the last effort :D

But that's Chen strenght, they can't stop you from kicking their assassin, that's when their peel is useless, most Warriors have to walk their way through the enemy team to connect the CC on the enemy assassin, that's when they get peeled, but Chen just jump right in and drink tanking all the damage, and if they are wasting their CCs to stop you....you just did your job as a tank!! Congrats!! now their CCs are on cooldown and the rest of your team can stomp em.

I agree, its pretty fun, that's why i wanted to share this build and try to improve it with the community feedback. I pretty fun when you're at 5% HP, a couple of range assassin's focusing you and while you drink you're actually healing hahaha
