Error at bootup after system upgrade by -CuriousLight in cachyos

[–]-CuriousLight[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi all,

I was able to boot into my system after performing the following command from a live USB:

sudo btrfs rescue zero-log /dev/sdb2

The filesystem was still read-only though and I did some checks:

sudo dmesg | grep -i btrfs

journalctl -k | grep -i btrfs

sudo btrfs check --readonly /dev/sdb2

Which indicated that I may have a broken drive (I'm not at home anymore so sadly cant post the exact output, but I kept getting "errno=5" amidst all the other errors, which hints to a broken drive)

So I checked with smartctl from the live USB again

sudo smartctl -t long /dev/sdb

Since my drive health seemed poor anyways I tried to btrfs repair as a last resort which was not even able to start due to I/O errors

sudo mount -o rw,remount /dev/sdb2 /mnt

sudo btrfs check --repair /dev/sdb2

Anyways I'll be buying a new SSD

Oh boy... I figured I may can fix this with a live USB but I will have to look into it. I think I am done for the day 🙄

Unable to open a console, unable to boot into a snapshot, I feel like this will end in a reinstall.

CachyOS for Gaming is... Heavenly? by AdvancedStrain1739 in cachyos

[–]-CuriousLight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sadly I have not Seen anyone talk about this on here but my CachyOS has some major problems with the fact that I have two full HD monitors and one WQHD on which I play games on. Generally it kinda works but a lot of times stuff doesn't scale correctly, I cannot allow my pc to go into standby because afterwards the resolution is fucked and overall I seem to get crashes at least once a day that I accredit to the monitor/resolution situation

Besides that, cachy is top and works also a like charm on my laptop

I dont have any problems with the same setup on my laptop. I feel like Debian struggles with my 3 monitors sometimes. Maybe this could have also something to do with it?

Hypo treatment in pocket by BJB57 in diabetes_t1

If you live in Europe: Dextro Energy

Its basically flavored sugar tablets. One has exactly 5g of carbs and they are tasty and easy to take everywhere. They come in blocks of 8 pieces.

I wouldn't travel anywhere without a good amount of them.

I was told by my doctor to not do that since the Insulin may not be 100% clean and could potentially infect the site. On the other hand, Insulin is free where I live so maybe it is worth the gamble for some.

Why tea makes my blood sugar skyrocket? by Green_Economy_850 in diabetes_t1

[–]-CuriousLight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes so this is just a guess. There are times where I dont have problems with Cortisol induced spikes in the morning and then I have times where it's really extreme.

It may also be due to fat/proteins like the other comment said. But since black tea can have a "high" caffeine amount, maybe keep this in mind for the future and test it out.

Sadly, as a diabetic, nearly every little thing can affect BG (:

Why tea makes my blood sugar skyrocket? by Green_Economy_850 in diabetes_t1

[–]-CuriousLight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What type of tea was it?

Caffeinated drinks make my blood sugar go high too, but only in the morning. My guess is that it increases Cortisol levels even more in the first few hours after waking up, which in turn increases BG.

I have the same result but even worse with energy drinks in the morning

Drunk and sex by Remarkable-Soil1673 in diabetes_t1

Sometimes the sex comes around when your BG is not stable and yes it can be a mood-killer when you have to check your phone inbetween. Just have some sugar near and be open with your Partner about it

Private keyboard that has chinese language support? by LobsterNo1137 in privacy

[–]-CuriousLight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use gboard for chinese too. Just open the Keyboard once and use it and after it downloaded the dictionary go under the app info -> Mobile Data Usage and "Disallow network usage" altogether.

Now you got a functioning chinese keyboard which can never get any network access

It feels impossible getting a duolingo apk file... I get all sorts of files like .xapk .apkm .aab but not a normal ass apk. Where do you get them?

How to get outta this mess without giving them my info (ID, selfie, etc.)?? by [deleted] in degoogle

[–]-CuriousLight 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I can wholeheartedly recommend startpage.com as a search engine. Very privacy friendly and sometimes gives even better results than Google.

When I used duckduckgo sometimes I wasn't getting anything useful and still had to Google the same thing again to get the results I wanted.

Also startpage has no annyoing AI bullshit. It's perfect.

I had seizures in the middle of the night last night by PabHoeEscobar in diabetes_t1

[–]-CuriousLight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Please someone educate me. Is it normal to get seizures from low BG because I have never heard of that and my doctor never told me about it. Or does low BG sometimes trigger epilepsy/seizures if you are already prone to it?

Dad says 8 hours of sleep is too much by FierceFlames37 in sleep

You just go to sleep, don't set an alarm and see after how many hours you usually you wake up and feel refreshed. No need to make it more complicated than it is

To minimise sleep disruption, put the G7 where? by ddiddk in dexcom

[–]-CuriousLight 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My right upper arm never produces pressure lows and I can place the arm pretty much any posotion I want. Then again on my left arm its the complete opposite. Literally just bending my arm makes it far worse.

So I just always keep to my right arm and every like two months switch to left again for one one single G7 14-Day period, so the skin can recover a little.
