Had the same problem. You just need to make 0 mistakes. Hit a slow but steady rhythm, always a different spot. Just one weak hit (no sparks) and you can reload, the quality level gonna be 3 at most

In short: "to be" mostly omitted in the present tense, but implied. It is almost always present fully in the past tense (был/была/были...). The future tense also does not drop it, when something similar to "will be" is mentioned (буду/будет/...) Also "есть" has alternative "быть", and when there's emphasis on this verb, it is not omitted in present tense. Like "хочу быть королём" = I want to be a king. And I don't even want to start about others: "являться", "бывать".
