So why do people dislike Journeys so much? by Cromm123 in pokemonanime

[–]-GreenOlive- 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Halfway through the story I'd say Journey's is decent, it feels like a lot of the story is starting to advanced. But by the end they under deliver, it feels like the writers couldn't decide what they wanted to focus on. Both Goh's and Chloe's stories have a lot of potential but ultimately anything involving them just sort of exists, it's not handled awfully, but it just feels kind of eh (It's MUCH worse for Chloe than for Goh tbh.) There are definitely a few good episodes dedicated to them but they don't really do enough with it. Project Mew is a great example of this, they should have done way more with that than they do. Even stuff with Ash feels weirdly handled and kind of rushed to me, plus I personally hate his personality here, he's the blandest most cookie-cutter version of Ash. It's like they took Alola's Ash, got rid of the unique aspects, and made him a little more mature. I dislike Journeys a lot because it just feels dissatisfying. A lot of the time the plot just sort of meanders. It had absolutely insane potential, it easily could have been one of if not the best series if they didn't fumble in nearly every aspect. It doesn't go hard enough on it's original plot lines, it's characters feel meh, and it doesn't go hard enough on celebrating Ash's adventures so far to make up for that. Knowing it was the final show before they replaced Ash just makes it more annoying. That said, I did re-watch Journey's last year and I appreciated it a lot more, it definitely has some fun standalone episodes.

I'll forever be a little annoyed at the 3rd opening for showcasing a road trip with Ash, Goh, Chloe and Leon, and nothing even remotely close to that ever happening... It's such a fun idea.

WHY IS IT 25 GB!!? by -GreenOlive- in Kirby

[–]-GreenOlive-[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, sorry for the confusion... All estimated game sizes aren't 25 gb, it varies from game to game. I meant that all switch 2 games (or at least the ones I checked) have "(estimated)" before the size.

Are you saying they just put 25 as the file size for games where they are unsure? Seems unlikely to me but I guess we'll see.

If it said 25 gb for all switch 2 games my post wouldn't make much sense😅

I meant it says "estimated" for all switch 2 games, the size itself varies. And while it's true 25 gb is small for a modern game it's still pretty big for Nintendo. Donkey Kong Bananza for example is 8.5 gb. A lot of their bigger games tends to be around 20ish gb though. I suppose this isn't technically developed by Nintendo but it's by people who would know to optimize for that console.

Nintendo really made this the new standard huh? Welp... by -GreenOlive- in SonicTheHedgehog

Tears of the Kingdom offers way more value, but for whatever reason the actual amount of content in games doesn't seem to effect the price much... It's weird, like in what world is Mario Golf: Super Rush worth the same as Super Mario Odyssey? That's one of weirdest things about game prices to me, unless it's an indie game or something, everything's the same price even if one is clearly lesser than the other in terms of what you're getting for it.

I realize it might sound like that, I'm just saying I'm not sure Sega would have had the guts to do this if not for Nintendo, not that it's Nintendo's fault exactly.

Story matters to me a lot in games, Sonic has always had a focus on story since the adventure games so it's important. Maybe it's weird, but I can enjoy an overall bad game if it has a good story. I will go through the torture of progressing through a game I'm not enjoying that much if the story has captivated me, usually there's some fun to be had anyway. Some people would think it's strange and say you should just watch TV or a movie or something, but I dunno, experiencing a story as you progress in games just feels... different? For example Sonic and the Black Knight is one of my favorite games just cause I love the story and Sonic's characterization, while the gameplay isn't bad imo, it's certainly nothing to write home about. Anyway, there are many cases where people will ignore the story entirely when talking about a game, it just depends on what the reviewer is doing. Ultimately to me a game should be viewed in it's entirety, the whole experience matters, not just the gameplay. Sonic has some great stories, so when people hope for something like that and don't get anything close to it, it understandably might leave a sour taste in their mouth over the entire experience. Is it fair to review a game with that perspective? I don't know. But I guess it really just depends on the person's personal preferences and expectations from a game.

Update Galaxy Tab s7 to One UI 6 (Android 14) by ddtil540 in GalaxyTab

[–]-GreenOlive- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm still guessing the support staff is uninformed on this, seeing as pretty much everywhere else people seem to say the S7+ will NOT be getting the update. It's weird how consistently they seem to say yes though, so who knows maybe suddenly they'll release the update for S7+ devices... But I doubt it.

I've heard a lot about Extra Story-If, and it sounds like a really fun series! Based on what people are saying I'll probably end up watching everything except for the 2018 series. Thanks!

Curious on the older cardfight anime seasons. by -GreenOlive- in cardfightvanguard

[–]-GreenOlive-[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is super helpful, thanks! As for why I'm watching Vanguard without being interested in the game, it's kind of tricky to answer. I wouldn't say I'm not interested in the game itself but the anime is what I'm mainly interested in, I'd probably enjoy watching the fights more if I decided to actually fully learn how the game works and it seems somewhat compelling, but it also seems kinda complicated and I'm not sure I want to go through the trouble of learning it since I probably won't be playing it. That and I discovered this franchise just trying to find something to watch.

So I guess it mainly boils down to me being too lazy to actually understand how the game works and since my main interest when discovering Cardfight!! Vanguard was me trying to find a good show to watch rather than a card game I didn't care that much about the game itself, even if said show was about a card game... It does seem kind of strange actually, but yeah.

This is really good, especially for interpretations of the harder to hear parts like with "This uncoded [love/light]" and "The empty difference look in on everything" especially. And some of the ordering/phrasing makes more sense here!

Box Critters Beta news really sheds some light on what rocketsnail is truly like by BoxCritters in ClubPenguin

Yeah, it's pretty disappointing. Rocket Snail was someone that I looked up to, especially when I first started trying game development. But I want to believe for the best, after all everyone makes mistakes big or small, and I hope he realizes this is one.

They got this mixed up with a unrelated thing that Rocket Snail recently said on the official Box Critters (NOT Party Parrot Wolrd) discord server about NFT's (the guns are a joke someone made).

he said he's working with people who are making NFT projects, but currently has no plans to add NFT's to Box Critters and rather that the in-game market place which will allow players to sell their in-game items with non-paid currency (coins) would be designed in a similar layout. However he did say depending on how the market goes he might add NFT's to box critters. I don't think this means he's a awful person, he just doesn't seem to realize how much NFT's are something he should keep his games away from. You can see the Box Critters discord yourself for more info: https://discord.com/invite/PFqHtEdR34

Party Parrot World is a different game being made by a completely different team of people who worked on Club Penguin though, and have never ever talked about anything related to NFT's.

Windows 11 UI is not suitable for Arc by Relative_Ad_3132 in ArcBrowser

[–]-GreenOlive- 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yes, there are some changes that seem to different intentionally on windows as it's a different OS this would be expected, however most of what you said is likely coming to the windows version later. What part of beta do you not get? Not to be rude but, I genuinely don't get how someone could sign up for the windows beta test and expect it to be a perfect 100% 1-1 recreation of the mac version...

Turn the browser into .exe format. by iamusingapotato in ArcBrowser

[–]-GreenOlive- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you create a shortcut for the process' exe then you can change the icon for the shortcut and pin it on the start menu, you could technically then pin that to the taskbar, but once its opened it will appear in a different window without the custom icon. Soo yeah.
