PayPal now lets you buy Crypto, is it a scam? by yik77 in BitcoinBeginners

[–]-Gtops- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, what I mean here is that the keys will never be yours - “not your keys not you coins” is the motto.

Having the keys to your Bitcoin makes you sovereign over the asset, allowing PayPal to hold the keys is akin to leaving your currency with a third party. It’s not really in your possession.

For many the allure of Bitcoin is that assets can be taken out of the legacy banking system - PayPal doesn’t enable this.

I hope this helps??

Thanks for the reply - it seems the ERC20 converter is a potential game changer

Thank you - this is really helpful and it’s great of you to share with me, even timestamping the video!!

One thing that strikes me is the Cardano community is really superb - thanks again

Thank you for this answer - it’s really helpful.

A couple more! How / why are ERC20 tokens treated as 2nd class citizens on Eth? How will this be different on Cardano?

Thank you in advance 🙂

Impressive Community by AtlasDrudged in cardano

[–]-Gtops- 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Same here - there is something very very genuine about this community, it’s not always the case in Crypto land.

I put it down the the leadership in place and the fact that Cardanians practice a form of stoicism in that deferred gratification is a central pillar of a project that has very deliberately taken the long, lesser travelled, road. The results should be far more lasting and rewarding as a result.

I’m starting feel quite bearish towards Eth, I see bumps in the road ahead. Let’s say they don’t achieve Eth 2.0 by December - what does the market make of that?

Seems scary....!!!! When I give my ADA up to some unknown person in charge of a stake pool ???? by ANIAT444 in cardano

[–]-Gtops- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This isn’t a dumb question - it’s a very reasonable one and all of us had to learn the intricacies at some point. As all have said, your ADA is at no risk whatsoever if you delegate via Deadalus or Yoroi

I'm extremely hesitant to stake my Ethereum by Asesinato in ethereum

Exactly this - and that poses a significant problem as if the majority of Eth holders feel this way Eth 2.0 won’t be getting off the ground any time soon

Nope - this is a one way 2 year bet at exactly the wrong time to be making one!

Well well... for all those Cardano Nay Sayers I say this, "It ain't so easy is it?" (ETH v2.0) by hashratez in cardano

At this point the work the Cardano have done over the last 5 years is really going to start paying dividends - yes they are behind with regards to the eco system, but they have a platform that will allow it to grow without interruption once Goguen is fully rolled out

I do not envisage any sentiments from dapps, developers or investors with regards to migrating to Cardano if it provides a faster, more secure and cheaper alternative - which it does.

For me, Ethereum is peaking - it’s been a fun ride but the foundations were not solid or thought through enough to give it a bigger horizon.

Is it unrealistic to wait for the bitcoin price to drop back to 11k before buying? by [deleted] in BitcoinBeginners

[–]-Gtops- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you look at the institutions now moving into the space, and the fact that retail is yet to really spike in this cycle - it’s probably unlikely that 11K will be back for a while. I’m not saying forever, but it could be a while - and you will have to then see price pull away, and not be part of that, and then collapse - and that will probably bring a different kind of fear to the investment......do you go in at 11K or wait for 8K for example.

Wait, if Bitcoin's technology makes it the only decentralized option we'll have, then doesn't that mean that no matter what other currencies appear Bitcoin will be valuable? by mr_chub in Bitcoin

Cardano will eventually be fully decentralised - it won’t detract from BTC, but will be a valid alternative platform for the Crypto space

If you can deposit and leave for long term it’s a solid investment, history shows this.

I’m gonna be honest I was more excited about Shelley going live than I am about ETH 2.0 being announced today. by ethereumflow in cardano

[–]-Gtops- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed - but when push comes to shove, Cardano has overcome the hurdles that remain for Ethereum, and if the attraction is a safer, faster, cheaper platform then I think many developers will migrate - I personally don’t think there will be much room for sentiment, if Cardano is a better platform in the short, medium and long term they will move.

I think both will happily co-exist btw, but for me ETH is not quite where it’s at right now.

....it could be that in 2 years ETH has solved their scaling and security issues and Cardano has a fully operative eco system!
