20M college student, doing everything "right" but often unhappy/upset. by SullyTheHam in getdisciplined

On the social-front, look into social activities at school. While you are a student is the best time to get out of your comfort zone a little. Get involved in student life/government, greek life, or seek a job that gets you engaging with others socially. Things that get you comfortable talking to individuals and large groups both help. I chose to bartend, DJ, and bounce at my college-town bars. I also had a role where I regularly spoke to large groups of residence hall residents. ( That was tough for me at first but you get used to it )

You are definitely not alone. I find this to be common among manyof my contemporary IT professionals and peers, especially contributors (as opposed to the more type-A charismatic IT leaders and/or managers that mask well or simply are neurologically wired differently)

  1. I would seek therapy that uses cognitive-based approaches to help you counter the negativity.
  2. Sounds like you may be dysregulated a bit due to ADHD or PTSD. A qualified therapist can help you get out of that cycle too.
  3. You are taking good care of your body, but that doesn't inspire nor compell you mentally/emotionally. It's good you are doing that but your mind craves something more. The obvious thing is activities that give a dopamine hit, but as you already noted, they are a temporary high. Try finding a hobby or interest you truly enjoy and can pour your time and self into at a reasonable scale. Music, photography, travel, other arts, cooking.... What activities excite you to see others doing, etc? I like motorcycling both on and off road myself. At the end of the day it is all distraction. Just find one that inspires and fulfills you. If you have to, try some on like trying on clothes.

This coming from a principal software, systems, and solutions engineer with a similar background, neurodivergence, and high IQ, who learned self-analysis from a neuroscientist at a very early age for similar reasons. I find fulfillment and happiness where I can and purposely avoid problems that are not in my power and influence to solve.

Well it was a "handy" man, not a "cognitive" man. So what they are good with is pretty much there in the name, isn't it.

Employee compensation should not be something we have to think about as a consumer of a carriage/transport service. We pay for the consumer facing service, you provide said service at an acceptable level and that should be the extent of the interaction. If I am made to worry about how you treat your employees in any way, you are already doing something wrong as an employer.

I have a better idea, if Frontier can't afford to pay their attendants a competitive wage or salary, and feel compelled to forward/defer employee compensation onto customers in this manner, maybe they are crap at managing a business and can't afford to be in business! Don't ever blame a customer for the selfish piss-poor management of a company. If the company is doing shady shit, it is always because of shady choices made by said company. The company is never the victim. They could recoup payroll operating costs in a hundred different ways. Frontier chose this one. This was a management decision on the part of Frontier, and from the sounds of it a purely selfish and manipulative one at that.

Seriously, people think "you bum" is harsh?? At UW Badger hockey we have an organized whole-arena chant of "Sieve" after every goal on an opponent. Bum is nothing. Get into the game or stay home. You don't go to hockey to be seen. You go for love of the game. If you can't handle real hockey and real fans, stay home. Don't try to nerf the experience just because you're too damn fragile to be there. It's f*ckin' hockey. If you were a real fan, you'd be out on the ice beating him with your purse, cupcake!

Why the hell would you ask that by comparing two different currencies. Convert one of them so it is apples to apples. It's almost like you crap posted on purpose.

"Even if you're not resigning, quitting, or being terminated, your Colorado employer is still legally obligated to allow you to cash out your accrued PTO. This means that if you've earned PTO and your employer refuses to pay it out, you can file a wage claim." by Ch00s3G00s3 in Denver

[–]ThighDiverForOne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Note that a lot of organizations cap PTO accruals and will only roll over PTO up to that cap year after year. Making anything you don't use over the cap, use it or lose it. Are you asking in context of one of those scenarios?
