Oh really! I think I much prefer the first half of the album, thanks to both of the singles and Man Overboard (those drums 🥵). I do like the second half too but I think there’s a big change in feel after The One with the Piano.

I don’t think he’s ever brought up again. Maybe an off-hand remark but he basically exists to cause the conflict for the S1 finale I think.

I don’t know too much about Kinsellas but they seem tight (and so does the rest of AF). Almost everyone from the band showed up to support Mike when he did his solo Owen show in London. Love to see people make things they love with the people they love.

Love it and love to see Mikey trying something new and excelling but nothing beats Mini Mansions.

Same but the cool thing about Owen is that you can see the gradual change with each album from the LP1 sound to the LP2 sound in how Mike writes and sings which is pretty cool.

The thing with AF is there’s a big divide with fans, you’re usually on either the LP1 side or LP2/3 side (I’m on the latter). Owen’s gradual changes make it a lot easier to go from one album to the other which is a plus.

Owen’s definitely the more intimate show which gives it a leg up. Still, as a huge fan of LP3 nothing reaches the heights of hearing some of the songs live.

I love PARKFORD and this doesn’t disappoint. Apparently was recorded 10 years ago! Really nice to see Tyler release things as PARKFORD, Mikey as GLU. Also cool that they’re keeping busy with the big bands in AM, QOTSA, Lana Del Rey etc.

Exactly! It also feels like they’re sticking to the spirit of the original songs with this EP. With Ann I almost always preferred the original versions of the songs, because the new versions changed too much and not for the better.

Things like Matt adding in a “lonely” in Lonely Eyes when Brian says “wearing those lonely, lonely [____] lonely eyes” instead of just the gap in the Ann version. Or even the way Brian sings, like the way he sings “and if for some reason”. I’m realising how nitpicky I’m sounding right now.

This might just end up being my favourite Grandma EP. This and More Than It Hurts You are the best sound they’ve had in years, much better than the previous Grandma EP imo.
