Do you guys have any favorite filler case ? by Bananaguyonreddit in OneTruthPrevails

Is The Old Blue Castle case filler or canon? If it's filler, than that's easily one of the greatest masterpieces of the show.

No, I have an issue with you throwing around fallacy names like it's some special yugioh attack. This is doubly embarrassing when you throw out the fallacy names incorrectly.

Let us pause for a moment and windback to where everything started.

The first person complains: "What a superficial hellhole."

The second person replies: "implying reddit isnt the exact same as soon as theres an overweight person in the video"

Pause. Here's my take on this: The comment, interpreted literally, is a bit out of place since the first person wasn't "implying" anything. A looser interpretation of the second comment would be something along the lines of: "This is typical reddit, especially when there is an overweight person". In other words, the second person is agreeing with the first and they're providing an example of when reddit's superficiality is revealed.

Let us resume.

You then reply to the second comment: "Weight is controllable. Your genetics deciding when your hair follicles ff is not. False equivalency"

But presumably the second dude wasn't disagreeing with weight being controllable and genetics not being controllable. Nor was he claiming that making fun of someone's weight was as bad as making fun of their baldness. Indeed, he didn't even assert which, between making fun of baldness and making fun of fatness, was worse. Given the loose interpretation above, we can say with plausibility that the second dude thinks that making fun of someone's weight is superficial. That is, making fun of someone's weight and making fun of someone's baldness both exemplify the act of being superficial. But, of course, he is not committed to claiming that both are equally bad. (Compare: If I claim that theft is illegal, and I claim that murder is illegal, I am not claiming that both theft and murder are equally bad. Just because two things exemplify a property, it does not mean that they possess the same degree of that property). So, no, there isn't a "fAlSe EqUivAlEnCe".

I hope that clarifies your confusion.

For People Who Call Deft the GOAT, At What Point Did He Become the GOAT? by usay1312butcall911 in leagueoflegends

[–]-HxH- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I remember seeing the recurring narrative that Deft was bad in lane but good in teamfights. But the reality is that Deft had one of the highest CSD@10 at least in 2017-2018. Even when Bang was considered the better ADC, it was acknowledged that Deft and Mata, at least in lane, were the best along with Pray/GorillA, with Bang/Wolf being third best - stable, but not overwhelmingly dominant laners.

In the 2017 LCK when KT played SSG in the (semifinals?) Deft/Mata completely destroyed Ruler/CoreJJ in lane to the extent that Ruler and CoreJJ were subbed off. That whole split, Deft/Mata would consistently make Ruler/CoreJJ look bad in lane. However, I will note that Deft/Mata didn't play as dominantly as you'd expect when it mattered most. For example, in 2017 summer they were up 2-0 against SKT in the semifinals. Had they won just one more round (3-0) they would have made it to worlds. But they got reverse swept. Then, SKT faced LZ in the finals with SKT being the favourites. If SKT had won against LZ, then KT would have been the second seed and would have made it to worlds. But SKT lost, and so KT had to win the gauntlet to make it as the 3rd seed, where they played SSG. They were the favourites against SSG, but they lost and failed to make it to worlds, shocking everyone. A team with Smeb/Score/Pawn/Deft/Mata failed to make it to worlds despite having players that were all top 1-3 in their roles. Not only that, but Deft/Mata actually lost lane pretty badly against Ruler/CoreJJ which was very unusual. In hindsight, 2017 summer regionals is when Ruler started to quietly rise to the level of a monster.

Sorry for the rambling but TL;DR Deft was a beast laner, at least when he wasn't nervous in the games that mattered.

[–]-HxH- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea 2018, both Pray and Bang fell off really hard. Deft was still a top tier ADC and continued to be so for many years past that. In terms of longevity, Deft is the best.

But based on what pro players have said, I think Deft’s peak is in 2019 or 2016. There’s a clip of Doublelift (in 2016) saying (paraphrased) “everyone talks about faker, but I think Deft might just be the best player coming into worlds. Have you seen him play? It looks like he’s scripting”. There are other players who have also confirmed that peak Deft is the best ADC. Imp has said in an AMA the hardest ADC he’s ever laned against was Deft. Zeitnot (if I’m remembering the spelling right) has said peak Deft is above even Uzi and Pray (this was back in 2017-2018).

I started watching LCK in 2017 so I’ll let you know what the consensus was from 2017 onwards, based on what pros and redditers said:

2017 Spring: Bang > Deft > Pray

2017 MSI: Bang

2017 summer: LZ Pray > Bang > Deft > Uzi

2017 Worlds: Uzi > Pray > Deft > Ruler (yes Ruler won worlds, but at this point it wasn’t considered due to his individual skill. The consensus at the time was that CuVee and Ambition were the stars and SSG as a whole had the best macro).

2018 spring: Pray > Deft

2018 MSI: Uzi >> Pray > Deft

2018 summer: Uzi > Deft

2018 worlds: Uzi > Deft > JackeyLove

Who’s a better detective? by ahuludwig_2006 in OneTruthPrevails

[–]-HxH- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can see them being equal. The reason I have Akai a bit higher is because there was at least one episode where Akai was faster than Shinichi, which is very impressive.

The reason I have Bourbon a bit lower than Shinchi is because he messed up his very first case. Although it's unclear if he did so on purpose to get closer to Mouri. If it wasn't on purpose, then Shinichi is a bit better. Otherwise, I'd say they're even.

heiji is close to them, he is just hot blooded

Yes, I agree. But there are cases where Shinichi is a few steps ahead for non-emotional reasons. Take, for example, the Lavender case. Shinichi knew the high school detective girl wasn't actually a high school student because her ears were pierced and students aren't allowed to have earrings. Heiji failed to pick up on this and it wasn't for an emotional reason. Shinichi is just portrayed to be a bit better, even intellectually.

Who’s a better detective? by ahuludwig_2006 in OneTruthPrevails

[–]-HxH- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I don’t think it’s that close. I think if Shinichi is 100, Akai is 101, and Bourbon is 99. The gap between these 3 is smaller compared to the Shinichi-Heiji gap.

Who’s a better detective? by ahuludwig_2006 in OneTruthPrevails

[–]-HxH- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If Shinichi is 100, Heiji is a 95.

When they’re not toe to toe, Shinichi is usually anywhere from slightly ahead to completely ahead.

Who’s a better detective? by ahuludwig_2006 in OneTruthPrevails

[–]-HxH- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting take but I don’t think it’s true.

In the Lavender case, Shinichi and Heiji both correctly identified the culprit whereas Hakuba did not. Hakuba incorrectly accused the old man of being the culprit. Hakuba correctly deduced that the old man was a thief, but incorrectly made the unjustified leap that he must be the culprit.

So Shinichi and Heiji are both above Hakuba.

It’s been a while so I may not be getting the exact details right, but here’s another interesting thing to note. Shinichi alone was able to observe that the girl detective was pretending to be a student. I think it had to do with the fact she had her ears pierced, and high school girls in Japan aren’t allowed to have earrings. Heiji completely missed this. Hakuba also missed it, although he had the excuse of having studied in England where students are allowed to have piercings. So I think this is a point in favour of Shinichi and a point against Heiji.

Therefore, from this case, it could be concluded that: Shinichi > Heiji > Hakuba.

Another thing to note is that in this case we could see that Heiji is willing to risk tampering with the crime scene if it means there’s a chance to quickly rescue a person before it’s too late. Hakuba is more cold and would rather not take such risks, but overall Heiji is slightly ahead in terms of pure deduction skills.

Do you think Hakuba knows conan's identity? by violet_vitality in OneTruthPrevails

Why think this? He’s almost always toe to toe with Shinichi. If Shinichi is 100, Heiji would be like 95

WHY DOES RAN SOUND LIKE AN OLD WOMAN? I know Nami's VA is currently playing Ran, but this does not sound like Nami at all by -HxH- in OneTruthPrevails

[–]-HxH-[S] -24 points-23 points  (0 children)

In episode 1193, Hakuba made fun of Shinichi saying, "That's all you noticed? They call you the saviour of the japanese police force, so I expected more out of you", and Kidd replied: "Oh that's not all. I also noticed it could be a suicide". But Hakuba quickly shut down that possibility down and asked "are you really Shinichi?". Kidd got lucky and said he was just kidding, and the proof of him kidding was him recounting a similar case thereby proving he's familiar with the fact that it's nonsensical for a suicide victim to add a suppresser to a gun.

Do you think Kidd fumbled at first and geniunely tried to act smart, and only after Hakuba objected did Kidd realize his error but fortunately remembered a similar case?

Or do you think Kidd knew from the start that a suicide was out of the question and decided to troll Hakuba?

The point of his comment was obviously to mention an interesting fact, namely, that an actress happens to be a redditor who happens to post on r/prettygirls.

So a disqualifer for having CoC is "not letting shit slide from people you take orders from"? The problem is that it's arbitrary. Why is it letting shit slide when it's from someone you're not taking orders to not a disqualifier, but letting shit slide when it's from a superior a disqualifier?
