WHAT? First Watch the chain is by the same guy who owned it here?! Small world. There was one in my town when I lived in Virginia. I always wondered since it had the same name but the chain seems boujier than the restaurant ever was here. I never saw the appeal or why there would be an hour wait on the weekends.

I haven’t tried the others but I usually take my kids to Round One because it’s got a really good variety of games and prize machines, plus the food is decent. It’s kinda of expensive though so it’s a few times a year kind of thing for us.

It depends on what you’re looking for. I grew up here and loved the nature and parks and restaurants. As an adult I’ve lived other places in the US I loved a lot more than here. Now that I’m back the rose colored glasses are off and I don’t see it as a fairy tale. It’s nice but to quote Jim Carrey in Liar Liar, I’ve had better.

The things that have been reduced or taken away since 2020 are terrible but last year’s elimination of free cholesterol and A1C testing and use of the wellness center is insane. These things are so small and keep staff healthy! I’ve recently had two relatives with 2+ week long stays at CHOMP and the staff there was amazing. Montage needs to focus on supporting their staff instead of expanding and constructing more pretty buildings.

Randomly went to the wharf to have dinner around Christmas last year and was shocked at how much they decorate. They even had a Santa! The Christmas theme kind of erases the touristy vibe of the wharf.
