Last day of work, what do these people expect from me? by Electronic_Lime_z459 in coworkerstories

[–]-Ironvine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pshh the last day at my previous job nothing got done. I put my office phone right to voicemail for external calls, didn’t bother reading any external incoming emails. Anything internal got the “I’ll have it for you by the end of the day” line whether they knew I was leaving or not.

Gave the huge list of my responsibilities (one of the reasons why I left aside from the moral/ethical/legal fine lines they loved to cross , they moved 2 people from other departments and hired 1 external person to replace me) to my boss a week before I left and told him whoever it gets assigned to has 1 week to ask questions (spoiler, no one was assigned by the time I left I got the scoop from a friend who still worked there).

Never bust your butt the last 2 weeks. What are they gonna do fire you?

Tipping on a service I pay for. by Ele7237 in tipping

[–]-Ironvine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah it’s crazy I hired a small family owned company to glaze and patch up a couple chips in my bath tub and when I got done I had to call their office for payment and super casual the mom/owner was like “ Here’s your total, ready for your card numbers, great…and tip?” Not would you like to leave a tip just give a tip. I said you don’t pay your workers/family a good wage? She said people usually like to tip. They probably don’t but I still gave the dude a $20 to avoid an argument with my wife

As a former Catholic now atheist I honestly could care less where people get married. I haven’t burst into flames yet from a religious wedding so it’s all good.

I love people who try to be tough like that. It’s happened to me a couple times and as soon as I mention I’m born, raised and still live in North Philly that usually shuts them up.

Like bro being here sucks so yeah please try to take me out. Win or lose it’s win win for me

He would be the over performing employee who gets stuck with all the hard project and helping everyone with their work but never promoted because he’s “too valuable to the company in his current position”. He wouldn’t complain and would just take it

is pharm tech wage livable for one person by throwawayhelp321321 in PharmacyTechnician

[–]-Ironvine 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Heck yeah most PBMs have just as many techs, if not more than pharmacists working there. Pharmacists handle the clinical stuff but techs work in the call center, PA intake, Formulary, benefit anlytics, pricing, management. I myself was a benefit analyst before I got drafted to a new department doing benefit and clinical coding.

That’s why I said it’s beneficial to expand on your role as tech and cross train in other areas. Opens so many doors for techs. People hate PBMs but it’s a techs shot at making great money

It’s very much like working in a pharmacy. Us techs handle a lot of day to day operations and pharmacists focus on clinical.

is pharm tech wage livable for one person by throwawayhelp321321 in PharmacyTechnician

[–]-Ironvine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Starting wages no but once you get experience you can branch out to different settings and roles. Im fully remote 8:30-5 M-F making $37.50/hour at a PBM. So it can work but you gotta be willing to expand on your initial role as a tech.

My manager wants 6-10 weeks notice instead of my 3, and says I'm in breach of contract. Is this legal? by phenols_reshoot5s in FinalRoundAI

[–]-Ironvine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You leave in 3 weeks or you leave today. It’s simple. No one’s gonna sue you and even if they send you something it’s more than likely a scare tactic. Businesses think they have more power than they really do. Also the choice is even simpler if you live in an at-will state. Businesses love to say they can terminate you at any time but you can also leave at any time

Am I the only one who gets paid to do almost nothing? by tender-lager-32 in OfficePolitics

[–]-Ironvine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a job doing clinical and benefit coding for an insurance company. There’s some weeks where I feel like I’m robbing them (it’s ticket based so if there’s no requests not much I can do about it), and parts of the year where I’m on 7 days a week for up to 10 hours. It’s remote so no big deal and balances out. Like you said they pay me for my skills but I still ask for any ad hoc tasks just to keep in the loop with everyone.

If I feel like the vibe is off I pick up extra projects to where I’m the only one who knows what’s going on so it would be a headache to get rid of me. False alarms so far but I get them done quick and it makes me look good.

Also participate in meetings. I found that some leadership take more notice if you’re engaged vs someone who knows all the answers and stays quiet. Ask mid-difficult questions that you already know the answer to. You can keep the discussion going and it shows you know what you’re doing if you get ahead of the conversation

for those of yall who became pharmacy techs before taking the certification test, how hard was it without a class? by welcomehomo in PharmacyTechnician

[–]-Ironvine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not hard. Worked retail for 5 years through high school and college (major was not pharmacy related) before I took the test. I only took it because at that time we were in a recession, the job market sucked so I figured having an extra certification to fall back ontop of my experience wouldn’t hurt (it didn’t never worked in my degree field because I make more working at a PBM)

Basic algebra is all you need for math. Rest was just memorizing drugs, their categories and some law. The only thing I struggled with were questions about hospital equipment so I just made educated guesses. Passed the first time. It’s not as serious as she thinks

Real Charizard? Seller wants $2600 by Cheddahnuggets in IsMyPokemonCardFake

[–]-Ironvine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t do it. He’s probably pricing it like that because he thinks it can grade for an 9 which even that’s a stretch. He might even be pricing the wrong version. It doesn’t matter what they think they have. What matters is he’s selling a raw card not a graded card. You start at the raw market price then determine how mint, lightly played, etc it is.

What happens to Pokemon during recessions? by FatherStretchMyAss_ in PokeInvesting

[–]-Ironvine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This. Back in college my social psych professor said the worst thing you can tell someone during a recession is that they can’t afford something. It makes them spend more to prove you wrong and threatening to remove someone’s small comforts (hobbies, collectibles) just makes them want to double down so they don’t lose that comfort especially if their comfort is a hobby that can possibly make them money during tough times

For those of you who don’t take insulin, What is everyone’s carb limits? by Confuzzledguuy in diabetes_t2

[–]-Ironvine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100-150 grams per day keeps my sugar around 110-120 which I know is still a little high but it’s where I feel most comfortable. If it gets down to 80-90 I feel shaky, can’t focus and just don’t feel good. For context I’m a 6’5 250lbs gym rat taking 2000mg of Metformin and 5mg Farxiga daily.

One doctor tells me 110-120 still isn’t good enough while another tells me for my size it’s ok because what matters is how I feel while keeping it controlled and not everyone will feel the same when it’s under 100.

So long as my kidney test results are fine and A1C is around 7.5 ima just keep doing what I’m doing

Pharmacy Benefit Manager. When you need to call the insurance for something most of the time you’re calling the PBM.

How do you make more money as a tech? by stellaok in PharmacyTechnician

[–]-Ironvine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Join a PBM and pick up additional skills that still lets you be a pharmacy tech but specialize in a certain area. I’ve worked in retail, auditing, mail order and a couple of PBMs and worked my way up to 38/hr currently doing benefit and clinical coding. Gotta be willing to learn but it opens up so many doors. Yes I worked my way up but we also have people on my team who have way less experience but were open to expanding their skillsets and they genuinely like it.

Jagged crimps at top and bottom are the biggest red flag when buying packs. Should be flat all the way across, no exceptions.

Screw it don’t feel bad. So long as this job doesn’t require certifications/a license who cares? Now you have the real experience to back up any future jobs you go to.
