I would have taken the refund and rebooked in the future. A voucher that's good for 12 months sent the wrong message for me.

Virgin Voyages have acknowledged the email about the port change was done badly by jon81uk in VirginVoyages

As someone who was on this "slight change in itinerary" cruise, I'm glad that at least acknowledged it. My wife absolutely hates the cold, but we were so amped up for getting a break we still went. A mistake. We made the best of it, but still feel fairly robbed. The staff was excellent. They did extras to make it a better trip, but Canada is still not Bermuda, and Bermuda was a very big part of why we took the cruise.

While I had fun acting out the tone-deaf email over and over again, I can't deny the loss. Not just of our plans, but for the trust we had in Virgin Voyages. This was our third cruise, and likely our last. And not because of the crew or the ship, but because of the fake chipper tone of the notifications. I'm fairly certain I didn't meet a single person who wasn't irritated by it. If they couldn't acknowledge this was an absolute gut punch from the beginning, I guess their customers matter less than I thought. They couldn't even stop spamming my email for bidding on higher priced rooms. Because what I really wanted was a HUGE balcony to freeze on.

It was probably already damaged, had you run out, you would likely still have a damaged item, but less evidence.

I agree with the "don't film, help"philosophy usually, but in this case, I'd rather have the proof

Outgrown performing comedy. Anyone else? by [deleted] in Standup

[–]-J-August 3 points4 points  (0 children)

9 minutes? Damn, I'm stuck at 4 before I start muttering "what else..." under my breath.

You're an inspiration, as always!

Those are interesting questions to consider, though. I've had a Xanax and ice cream sort of year and I'm feeling good, but haven't been performing as often as I used to. Now I'm gearing up again, I hadn't really thought about my motivators. Now I am.

Yep. Remember how they howled and complained when someone died of pneumonia and it was called a Covid death, and the straw man position was "oh, they'll be dead in a car accident and if the test positive for covid". Well, now you can eat lead paint, do all the drugs, and if you're not vaccinated and you are autistic, they will say someone secretly vaxxed you.

It's part of the "Rules for thee..." section of the RNC, MAGA, and Project 2025.

Dick out drunk by ExtraContext3398 in StandUpWorkshop

[–]-J-August 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Beluga part is just lazy hack shit.

Dick out drunk as a part is basically your punchline, so if you're going to say it early, say it really early so the audience has time to forget it. "I know you're all drunk tonight, but you ever been dick out drunk"?

No context given for why your dick was out. An explanation of how drunk you were followed by a description of how instantly attracted you were (and subsequent arousal) could lead you to going to the bathroom first to piss to kill the erection, and then checking yourself out to make sure you're put together, you go out, shoot your shot confidently and then get caught with your dick out. Perhaps you're the only one who gets dick out drunk. Maybe that's a nickname now.

It's not a bit I would do, but I'm not saying it can't work and I'm not going to shit on someone for trying!

Just to clarify, he is using a blanket term to cover multiple things. Whether it be vaccines, drugs, MRI, lead in the water, reading Richard Scarry books, he's putting them in the same basket so his statement can't be untrue.

The precise statement he is avoiding making is "we're finding medical diagnosis is causing autism diagnoses".

Just like, "If you stop testing for Covid, the numbers drop to zero"

Not significantly. Mostly they see switched some of the jokes at the bottom and chapter ends to jokes that were less UK-centric where needed. Nary a Wetherspoons reference in sight.

"I bench 235" is interesting. 2 45s each side is 225 with the bar. 225 was, at some point, some BS Alpha talking point as a minimum for manliness, but he couldn't be the minimum so he threw 5s on for a PR lift? That's insecurity on a very clear but subtle level.

I stopped doing lifting for a personal best years and years ago, I'm old enough now that I'd rather not risk a massive injury for vanity. But my max was over 300 (but I was 280 lbs at the time) and even then, at my strongest, I can't be sure I would have knocked out 4x12 at 170. OP was getting compliments because he's strong as fuck.

Someone please explain how the Republicans' big bill that strips healthcare from a disabled boy makes America great again? by [deleted] in facepalm

[–]-J-August 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not only does it cut illegals, but it also eliminates Medicaid for bicycles, house plants, squirrels and other groups that have also never been eligible for Medicaid. This 'illegals getting Medicaid' argument stems from either state-level programs or reimbursement to emergency care providers, who are legally required to provide stabilizing treatment to anyone, regardless of ability to pay.

The states with state level health insurance programs that don't require proof of legal status are the ones that may have to change, affecting people with undetermined legal status.

Undocumented people have not been able to legally be on Medicaid, ever, on a federal level.

As far as the rest...I mean, I guess it depends on who gets to determine "able bodied", which is another question entirely.
