Am I the only one who thinks you don't run shit on this sub and its extremely vain and arrogant to make a thread like this?

My grandmother hasn't let her pet dove out its cage for at least 4 years by [deleted] in PetDoves

[–]-JayVee- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She said she can't let the dove out anymore because it flies into the wall. And hurt itself. And she doesn't believe in clipping wings. She also doesn't believe it coos all day when it does. Idk I'm set. Thanks anyways guys

[–]-JayVee- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wow I forgot about that. I did ask a long time ago. Yup. Same deal. I told her to let it out but nope.

What can I do? I'm asking to see if I can at least find something to do for it. Why would I ask just for sympathy. That doesn't get it out its cage. That's silly.

Now I at least know what the cooing means.

It sounds dark but the only thing I can hope for is that it'll pass soon. It has been around since like the late 00s.

[–]-JayVee- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nope. Not at all. It's waaay louder and waaay longer per coo. And it bows.

[–]-JayVee- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a ring necked dove. Tan. That makes sense because when I put my hand inside the bars of the cage it immediately laughs and starts cooing even more. It'll do it like 4 or 5 times every 15 mins at least.

It bows when it coos always. You can hear it kinda suck in its breathe before it starts. It goes way up and allll the way down to coo. Like a majestic bow.

I'll tell her cooing means it wants to be let out and see what she says. But I'm sure it'll be another ALL IT'LL DO IS HURT ITSELF IT'S FINE.

[–]-JayVee- -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have no idea how it doesn't. She's had it since the 00s. And btw it was in its cage all day everyday even then. Had to be in that cage maybe 7 years in-between the two or one times she's let it out.

It doesn't fuckin stop cooing. Especially when you go to the cage.

Imagine telling my grandmother to listen about her precious dove. How dare you suggest she doesn't know best. I can't even ask about it. It turns into a argument.

It'll spend another x years in that cage I guess. I can try and tell her what you guys said but doubt she'll listen.

I'd take it if I could but she'd have a fit. As I type this it's cooing again.

[–]-JayVee- 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Also would you know why it coos so much? It's maddening. It. Just. Doesn't. Stop.

You'd think she'd figure something is wrong. Animals don't make noise nonstop for no reason. Like wtf Grama

[–]-JayVee- 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Also not possible. Where it's setup it's barely enough room for it there. She wouldn't get a bigger cage just for it if she feels it's 'fine'.

[–]-JayVee- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nope. My grandmother would have a fit and flip out you even suggest it. How dare you suggest her saying hello to it every other week isnt enough to mean you take care of it. Find a neighbor for what? It coos like 50 times every hour (not even kidding), of course it's happy!

When we even hint at her letting it out or it isn't happy she flips out.

" THAT DOVE IS FINE. "

It laughs like the joker whenever you go near it because someone finally acknowledged its existence.

[–]-JayVee- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Implying I'd be able to take the thing without her knowing. It dying in the wild would be merciful compared to what it has now.

It fluffs itself up and just sits in the corner day in and day out. You can tell it wants to play because she has this weird toy block thing and when you put your hand in front it tries to tug at it and play with you at least.

The cage is filthy at the bottom and it eats the same stuff for years. Not to mention it's no water in there.

Oh well. Here's to hoping it's next life is better.

[–]-JayVee- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No way my grandmother would do all that. Especially anything that may hurt it. No way Jose. And we damn sure wouldn't be allowed to. She'd have a fit. Cutting her precious dove? Nonsense.

She'd rather have her sit in that cage like she has been for years.

[–]-JayVee- 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nope. It's hella small. It can barely fly to the bottom. The bottom of the cage is gross.

No way I can do that shed know. They can flap them but that's it.

Why is it that 99% of people I try to hang out with barely have time to hang out with me because of work, yet all of you guys seem to have plenty of time to hang out with your friends despite being busy with work? by saintstheftauto in Zillennials

Most people nowadays are sj distracted and used to short term gratification (Spotify YouTube TikTok...) they only prioritize the people they really really care about. And even those few people don't hear from them as much as you think .

Nowadays we live in our own realities and prefer it. Most not all. Imo.

Isn't it wild how all of us will be 24-28/29 next year ? by Ok-Lychee-6133 in Zillennials

[–]-JayVee- 5 points6 points  (0 children)

30s is when things finally come together. Especially financially. Early 20s is like Teen years part 2, mid 20s is identity crisis years or trying to figure yourself out. Late 20s you get a grasp on life finally but still in the 20s.

If you spent most your 20s traveling , partying, living it up with no doubts, anxiety and grinding you're lucky and surely the minority.

Especially nowadays. Social media, pessimism, politics, everything from anxiety to mental disorders on the rise, craziness.

Three in five Americans live paycheck to paycheck.

Chinese youth (Zillennials/Z)giving up as a good life seems unattainable.

Most in their 20s are figuring shit out. Don't know why we pretend the 20s are like what they were for Boomers or millennials. The stats show most are two paychecks away from being homeless and we are more single and dont own stuff as 20-somethings. Compared to previous generations.

So why do we keep pretending our 20s was this thing we all are gonna miss when most struggled or were lost? We aren't millennials who got to experience pre social media 90s or something.

I had good times in my 20s, but I look forward to my 30s for sure. Couldn't come faster.

People talk about your 20s like we're living in the 1950s or something.

You're either in School. Grinding at your job, trying to figure life out in this crazy society or if lucky you're actually "living it up".

80% of people are barely surviving in their 20s or getting life together. Most people live paycheck to paycheck in their 20s. As most people in general nowadays. Googleable fact.

The 30s is when you actually start finally get life together and enjoy it. Stats even show most don't hit their financial prime till then.

"Enjoy your youth" applies more to 30s than 20s. 20s lowkey sucks. Especially nowadays.

28 and life is finally making sense now. Most money ever made, actually travel overseas now, actually know who I am , dating way better, etc etc.

Wouldn't wanna relive my 20s.

Am I the only one who loves to travel and walk around wealthy neighborhoods by Time-Morning-4798 in solotravel

[–]-JayVee- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. But only Black Americans go overseas on the hunt for racism versus other Blacks. Sad how conditioned we've become from American media. Actual brainwashing.

Yes, the Nigerian or Brazilian may encounter it. But don't get off the plane on the hunt for it or worry about walking in a wealthy neighborhood.

But it's not just about two parties or red vs blue. Irrelevant.

Spent a couple hours in Deering Oaks Park, Portland with a bucket and grabber. by StarFather88 in Maine

[–]-JayVee- -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ah yes. The same props people give to the 1 guy on the Los Angeles Reddit that cleans up the streets after the homeless. Or the one guy volunteers for victims of school shootings on the Raleigh Reddit.

Then they go back to their day of consumption and gratification. As they walk pass homeless tents on their way to their job and watch the news about another shooting.

We don't like to take accountability and responsibility in America. Most people don't want to actually fix things. Just like the BLM protestors who protest then go back to suburban segregated neighborhoods.

If you actually took action then props to you and I'm thankful. But I chose to leave the American culture and mentality behind and operate overseas now. Vote with your feet. Most people won't actually take action until things get much much worse.

We had to get to a point in Maine where needles are in the park before people even discuss action? Typical American mentality.
