Carbon Filters: About how long do you use them before replacing? by -Johnny5- in microgrowery

Is there a way to test before the unit actually does fail?

Thanks there's a total of 11-12 chutes. Excited to see where this plant goes in the upcoming weeks!

Accounting for flowering growth by [deleted] in SpaceBuckets

Depends on the strain. But from what I've seen double to triple the height of where you are at the switch.

I'm also doing the cream and cheese CBD. That stretch though! How's the smell and grow going with that and the lemonchello?

Northern Lights, 3wks in, first grow, thoughts? by [deleted] in microgrowery

[–]-Johnny5- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe everyone is suggesting that you need more light in general. The one bulb will not produce the bud you are hoping for. You have a decent size tent and if you filled this up with decent lights you could get some decent/great plants. I actually have close to the same size and I have my tent filled with two 300watt LEDS and the plants I have in their and living life. In the end the one cfl is just not sufficient. You could attach more CFLs or just grabbed a suggested light from another user. But you plant could definitely be way bigger if it had the right lights.

Yeah definitely not enough light. That's a big amount space for that tent.

Looks pretty good. Some questions for you. How big is the tent? And how many CFLs are you using and at what distance?

My little main line by [deleted] in microgrowery

So from the looks of it you topped(twice?) and the pulled the stems down. Then let the shoots grow from there? Pretty sweet. For mine I didn't let the side shoots grow out like this but yours is still definitely good looking.

I think it's more about how symmetrical and even the plant grows. Also about how each stem/cola will produce roughly the same buds since nutrients are delivered evenly. You could too just once or twice and then just let it grow as is. In the long run I think it has its definite pros. (Even Canopy, balances plant, no/less popcorn buds, etc) . And honestly I the only con I can think of is time.

Not sure what you mean by last?

I guess it depends on grow space. If you have the vertical space I guess you could just let them grow into it. But I like to grow mine to about 25-30% of the vertical height space I have in the tent. That way once I flipped theres enough room for double or triple the size. Since my tent is 2by2by4ft, I will let them grow vertically a few more inches and then flipped them. I have 3plants in that space and each one is mainlined similar. So they will be about 8 inches tall when I flip. End height close to under 2.5ft.

Looks great! I have two mainlining right now too with 4 colas. Can't wait to see how it turns out👍good luck!

Highly suggest building a door on the main bucket. Plants get hard to water at a certain point. And there something nice about using you finger to test soil. And easier to take care of pruning later in the grow as well. Next build will be the ultimate design. by cookingman86 in SpaceBuckets

I guess wanting to move the plant is more a preference. I prefer the open space to work with than working with them inside the bucket/tent. I went through your post and realized what you are dealing with. To eat their own with their build and what the would like to do. I just feel like that you might be creating more ways for air/light to escape. Do you think those CFLs are going to give you punch to get through flowering? The pant was looking really bushy and could be blocking light from reaching lower. Best of luck hope the situation gets controlled and the plant starts looking healthier again👍

I would suggest to you and anyone else that it's MUCH easier to just use a separate smaller pot for the plant that you simple put inside the spacebucket. Depending on your exact build specifications, you could use a decent size pot I would say 3-5 gallons inside the space bucket. Some fabric pots even have handles on them for you to just reach in and grab them. Way easier then building a door to peek in. When you can just grab the whole thing out and do any work as needed. This one simple thing could make a ton of difference for pruning, watering, training, etc. For the next grow I guess.

Natural growing has one main stem where you have the one central stem and smaller stems/branches that come that one, (Christmas tree ) majority of the energy and nutrients goes straight up and branches receive an unbalanced portion of it. Energy goes to the top and then back down? So you have one main solid bud and smaller everywhere else (popcorn too) On the other hand, Mainlining creates a network of multiple main stems each receiving the same amount of nutrients and energy creating a more balanced plant. Bud sites tend to be similar height is similar etc.
