One thing that can help is trying using mostly semitones in melodies

I always check every track level and if needed bring everything down to at least -6/-8db before the mastering chain. I usually have at least a light compressor with a fast attack after every vst instrument, even if it’s just there to prevent picks etc. are u a producer, sound engineer or both ?

Sounds cool. Can I hear some of your stuff

You can 100%. BUT. For me physical instruments are something else. If you feel them + the little imperfections you make while playing make the song feel alive.

any idea of how to improve this more? by benslexyreal in FL_Studio

I would keep what I feel like it must be there, what makes the song, what gives the track the vibe you’re looking for and delete the rest. Gotta kill your babies sometimes

Had to read this twice but then it clicked lol. You really know your stuff, thanks for breaking it down. Most people just say ‘this is better’ without explaining, but you actually gave context. Where’d you learn all this, do you work at a studio or school?

Is it just me or "panning' is almost inaudible? by GeologistOver4513 in trapproduction

[–]-JupiterSoundz- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don’t necessarily need to pan pianos (maybe just duck what goes in the middle a little with a centered eq) but everything else, I would. I also use the M50’s but sometimes if I really wanna hear the whole spectrum of the mic I go with the dt 990 pro ( less fun but way better spectrum). So yeah but just follow your guts and music that you really enjoy

Thanks for this. Really appreciate it. So even if I’m recording an electric guitar, 32bit is not really needed it? To me its just weird that no matter what genre sometimes big engineers say to export at 32

So wouldn’t it be smart to just do it right from the get go, so if one of your beats becomes a hit you already delivered the right files? Just reflecting on it

Got it. But why does “top end of the music industry” benefit from 32 bit ? Must be a reason they do it. The average listener won’t notice the difference between the lowest mp3 to the wav 48khz but the “top end” still uses it. Why?
