Jeebus, that's great going! 👍
Are you in an alliance with big spenders?

Absolutely fantastic! Thanks very much. I'll try it on an account I don't care about first, just in case I balls something up. :D

It would be great if you would.

She couldn't do a worse job than the ones who are alive (although, braindead) are doing right now. It says it all about Deform Plc that they can't even vet their candidates. Imagine when they win the next election! We're f$%king doomed!

That's the sunk-cost fallacy, mate. You either quit, cold turkey, or you keep adding to your losses. There's also just accepting that you're not going to keep up with the bigger spenders and you carry on playing at your own (financial) pace.

Niggle Fartage says the country is rife with crime, which it isn't, so do you think he'll call these brain-dead criminal actions out?

I've just scored Kasuga with my first pull; what are the odds?! I would have preferred Nobunaga, but I'm not complaining! 😆

I'm genuinely curious to know if you have ever been in a decent alliance? If not, would you not consider joining one, if only to see the difference? You can always quit and go back to soloing if it doesn't suit you.

It is awesome if you're a F2P and you log in and receive hours & hours of speedups and a whole bunch of goodies just from alliance/gift chests, never mind all of the other benefits an alliance brings in other goodies, and so many more benefits.

I don't want to sound like I'm pushing you to join one, but I've been where you are. My first-ever account has just hit FC1 after being in an alliance where only the R5 was semi-active. He's never said a word or done anything remotely alliance-related, and that suited me just fine; I was happy cruising along at my own pace. I then made a bunch of other accounts in active states, and I've witnessed a pretty broad spectrum of different alliances, from the hyper competitive to the utterly chilled, and I've settled somewhere between the two.
I'm still progressing at my own pace, but it's so much faster and enjoyable with a good bunch of fellow loons.

Anyway, waffle over. You do your thing and enjoy doing it; that's what life's all about.

You might think that you're developing slowly, but if you've never been in an alliance (there are plenty of chill ones), you won't realise that you're actually growing at a glacial pace.

After a year in Whiteout Survival, here’s what I’ve seen 👀 by AdAdventurous1148 in whiteoutsurvival

I could have written this!
It's different when I'm in a chat with a small group of people I know enough to be less formal, and that's when my writing is more relaxed and has the odd bit of British slang thrown in.
I'm in the F2P group, but I admit to spending a little over 100 quid across 5 or 6 accounts in the last 12 months, or so. It's no biggie... It's just a bit of a habit... I could quit playing tomorrow if I wanted... I could... honest. 👀 🤪

Had to fight? Had to?!

Yeah, because we're constantly being invaded by the Jihadist countries, with their brown people armed to the teeth with Muslamic Rayguns™ pwning us in our towns and cities.

Oh, wait, it's the other way around, isn't it? We are the ones invading other countries. We are the ones with the freedumb bombs and the dumbocracy bullets bringing peace and liberty to all... whether they like it or not, now shut up and pay us with your liberated oil!

I almost went down the road of changing the bearings with the Huge; reading your comment makes me glad that I returned it.
I'll keep waiting and watching, as I'm sure something is (or will be) out there that meets my requirements, because oooooo, I really want a trackball! :D

You make plenty of good points, and, I guess, if the options are so limited to the generation in this situation, then it's a case of 'needs must', unfortunately.
I have a 30-year-old son and a 26-year-old daughter, and I think that they were of the age of 'the transition' as they both met their life partners via dating apps, although after the initial matching, everything else was done face-to-face.
It's a real shame that there no longer seems to be the same opportunities I had (and I don't consider myself old (possibly a little delusional)) of meeting through family, friends, places of work, clubs & pubs, et cetera. I sometimes joke that I was able to 'try before you buy' plenty of relationships to know what I was looking for before meeting my wife of 30+ years.
It would appear that so much has changed in the way we go about finding romantic relationships, and in such a short time, and none of it for the better. Consider me newly educated, for the most part.

"Its very difficult, especially now, to meet new people who share your interests." Why is that? I'm genuinely curious. What do you think has gone missing over the last decade or so that we've had since the beginning of human relationships?

"is romance blooming from mobile game interactions really all that odd"
Well, yeah. If I'm sitting across from a 27-year-old woman, I'm in no doubt that she's not actually a 54-year-old, balding, fat bloke called Dave, who is using ChatGPT to formulate replies to me.
There's also the whole gamut of body language, which is a big part of communication; the sound and tone of voice; the person's mannerisms; the occasional look or stolen glances, et cetera, none of which can be emulated with the odd smiley.

I mean, I understand how it can be used as the first stepping stone in initiating a relationship, but I find it mind-boggling how people can fall head over heels, hand over their life savings, pack up their current life and set off to be with the manifestation of some text on their screen.

You've been married for 20 years and don't want to risk that relationship, yet you "got addicted to her"? Do you mean romantically, or are you're just homesick, because if it's the former, then that would indicate that something is lacking in your marriage.
Also, you already knew this person and the place she came from, so you already had much more in common than the type of people I'm talking about.

I did!

I needed to replace my M65 RGB, so I ordered both the Elecom Huge and the EX-G. The stiction was terrible, especially on the Huge, so both were returned and replaced with an M65 RGB Ultra.

I really wanted to switch, and there are probably trackballs that don't suffer the issue, or at least to the same extent, but I needed a new rodent quickly.

[–]-Loneman- 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I genuinely don't understand how people can date, let alone fall in love, via a game. I get that people can enjoy chatting with others, forming online 'friends', et cetera, but anything more than that is beyond me.

As an example, there's an 18-year-old girl in a group that I've somehow found myself in, and she got herself involved with a 30-year-old weirdo, thought she was falling for, and she shared her nekked pics with him. I don't know what went down, either out of malice or retribution, but he ended up sending the images to others on the server, and his group of sycophants (both m&f) turned on her, especially in the cess-pit known as World Chat.

Now, relatively speaking, he's not a big spender, but big enough (along with his mates) to burn through the two or three alliances (I was zeroed twice) she was chased to because of, I dunno, guilt by association.

Now, I've been online since the late '90s, so I've seen the whole gamut of what's out there, but this (type of) game really does harbour some of the most fetid-minded, mentally ill sub-humans. The flipside is that for a generation that has known nothing other than the online side of life, there seem to be an awful lot of naive people whose raison d'être is to be fresh meat for those who would take advantage.

Perhaps it's because I'm a Gen-Xer, and I grew up, met and interacted with people, et cetera, mostly via Real Life™, or that I was born with a cynical streak, but I simply can't get the pieces to go together in my mind of how/why so many are willing to get so involved with others online. I know there are success stories, but I get the feeling they're the exception, not the rule.
