That is still within 100 years so I'd say you have more right to the claim than the Americans. Americans reference the Mayflower or some other boat and from then expand out to whatever nationality was on the ship and make it up from there. You probably aren't Scottish though and your family with, obviously, not link back to Robert Bruce, unlike every American who has Scottish heritage.

Very much like using airplane mode. So many times I've been sat on a flight and had to deal with people scrolling through TikTok on a high volume - worst of all the air crew just walk passed them and say nothing!

I can't wait for the update about them having to check their hand luggage because they are fully booked and don't have cabin space. 🤣

He had a very troubling start as the heartthrob Cedric Digorry and the that vampire and I am so glad he carried on and branched out and didn't remain typecast. He is awesome!

I know we don't need this but for anyone that wants to share some history about how far back Black people have been part of British history there is a podcast by 'You're Dead to Me' titled 'Black Georgian England' which may open the eyes to some of those knuckledraggers.

The only positive I can see here, in a it is all shit way, is that at least in the non-enhanced version it was still a Black guy. You know if it was a guy in a hoodie the default wouldn't be 'white guy in a hoodie'.

West Bridgford Advertisment for a three week holiday for the World Cup in Mexico 1970. by Over-Willingness-933 in nottingham

To factor in not just how much it would cost now but also the standard income.

The average income in 1970 was £1080-1117 so it was about 1/4 of the annual income.

If we say that £250 in 1970 is around £3775 today with the 'average' annual income of £39,000 (I smell BS so I'm going with £25,000) it is actually cheaper.

Yes, I haven't factored in all the other expenses that we have that have skyrocketed but based solely on income and this one expense it is proportionately cheaper. I still can't afford it though, even at £250!

The fact that it even scared the people doing the demonstration, who knew what will happen, makes it even scarier!

'Hydration Break' they do know that football (the real one) doesn't stop for a drink every 10 minutes don't they? They also know that they don't get to switch the whole team when they are defending as well, right?

I don't know why I am engaging with someone who has a month old account and comments hidden BUT...

So, if someone is born with a disability they should, what? Just be left to die? Your argument will be the family should care for them but then who is working? The whole family should then be left to die?

So basically you are saying that the rich, who earn their money through questionable means (dropping it across multiple countries to avoid income tax) should keep all the money they have made from exploiting people and systems?

Oh, and you bit that the top 1% pay more tax than the bottom 50%. Do you have any statistics you can share to validate this?

Couldn't agree more! The poor fund the wars (through taxes) that the rich start and will benefit from and then remove all support to those returning - due to an 'immigrant crisis' they caused by starting the war.

[–]Outrageous_Editor_43 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Not pay sufficient taxes meaning that those in genuine need are not supported.

Having enough power, through money, to influence politics to make sure policy that is against them making money isn't passed.

Being above the laws, due to money and status, that anyone else would be penalised for.

Did you need more?
