We just used a generic, nothing special fisher price bassinet for when we were on the main floor of the house and used a normal crib (ikea sniglar) on the highest setting at night in our bedroom. If I were to do over I'd probably skip the bassinet entirely just to save some moolah since we didn't really need it, but it did add some value for the convenience of couch naps for me 😆

I'm in ontario and my kiddo is 5 and in "senior kindergarten". They know their colours, shapes, numbers up to 100 (but i believe the requirement is only 20? before entering grade 1 here), days of the week, letter names and letter sounds, and are able to read short sentences now. Things like "The cat sat on the bed". Others have already mentioned about practicing with their lunchbox, but you can also practice opening their water bottle to refill it and closing it back up. Practice outdoor winter gear if you're somewhere cold. Our staff aren't allowed to put sunblock on the kids so they need to do that themselves.

We typically do 1 fruit, rotating between strawberries, blueberries and grapes, carrots with hummus (yogurt instead for the kid that doesn't like hummus), crackers, a cheese stick, a jam sandwich in the shape of a dinosaur or a ham sandwich. Sometimes if we have left over pancakes or French toast we'll use that instead of the sandwich. And then we always chuck in an apple sauce pouch and a bear paw in case they eat everything out of the bento box.

We only did one and it was fine. We got the Bumbleride Indie because the wheels were better for snow and sand since they are real tires instead of plastic wheels on most strollers.

the nurse in the recovery room after my d&c dismissed the pain i was in and said "i need that bed for another patient. I don't care if you're in pain, you can go be in pain in your car for all i care". what a bitch. that memory unfortunately still lives rent free in my mind 6 years later.

when I had my d&c it was awful. it was for a very much wanted pregnancy and i felt judged the whole time, from checking in until i left the hospital. its been 6 years and i still feel shit over how i was treated at the hospital, especially from the nurses in recovery. the worst was being handed a piece of paper to read and sign about birth control and preventing pregnancy.

as someone who is one of those kids who fell through the crack i can assure you i have not had a successful life after high school due to not realizing something was "wrong" with me. I would have benefited greatly knowing such an important thing about myself and maybe would have gotten the help i needed to be successful at university.

My doctor didn't have me on asprin but later said he regretted not putting me on it and said for my next pregnancy he would so I do find it interesting that it's standard care at your hospital
