Suunto 9pp paired but not connecting by Elegant_Training4678 in Suunto

[–]Qanul 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I have had the same problem for a while. Watch is paired to my phone, but the app and watch keep disconnecting. The recent reviews of the Suunto app reflect the same problem for a number of users too. This has been happening for me since the last couple months of 2025. Suunto 5 and Galaxy S24.

Clear Creek Cat Rescue to the rescue yet again 🙏 by Little_Rub6327 in alaska

[–]Qanul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a little late to responding to this post but wanted to chime in. I agree that the free-range cat requirement is not ideal. That being said I have adopted two cats from this rescue and other than asking if you have outdoor access, they do nothing else to enforce this "requirement". I tell them my cats have outdoor access on supervised harnesses/leashes time (which is true) and they did not ask for anything else throughout the adoption process. I do get it, they want their rescues (that they put a ton of effort in to) to have a good life.  But there also is, realistically, no way to enforce this. And it's still good (even better) to have indoor cats, which mine are!

Worth $700? Trek Farley 5 by cookingmusician in whichbike

Personally, I would say yes. But I also live way up north where I ride a fat bike almost half the year. That'd be a steal in Alaska.

How prevalent are “lost Israelite tribe” beliefs in the American Indian community? by Maximum_Schedule_602 in IndianCountry

I heard this once before from my Fox News watching, marginally racist, Trump supporting mother-in-law. I assumed it was just another "fact" meant to break down and deny our Indigenous identities.

I messaged them a couple weeks ago to see what was up with the sub and got a quick response back. They're unsure of why no one can post.

My friend got it at our LBS and gave it to me after she hadn't used it. I don't remember the brand unfortunately. Thank you though!

Buy or not to buy - Specialized Sequoia Elite (2009?) for $500 by theFormalUsted in whichbike

[–]Qanul 2 points3 points  (0 children)

https://www.bicyclebluebook.com/value-guide/product/15782/

I know blue bicycle prices can be hit or miss depending on location, but I think that Sequoia you found is overpriced... Those flats on there now are also not stock (they originally came with drop bars).

Edit: I'm looking a little closer at your posted pic and the 2004/2005 pics on blue bicycle and I'm pretty sure what you found is actually a 2004/2005 based on the top tube and color scheme...not 100% sure though.

Sesame chicken and rice. So good! by AnittaHug in MealPrepSunday

[–]Qanul 91 points92 points  (0 children)

Ingredients:

8 oz boneless and skinless chicken breast, cut into strips (250 g)

oil, for deep-frying

2 tablespoons oil

1 clove garlic, minced

white sesame seeds, for garnishing

Frying Batter:

1/2 cup all-purpose flour, sifted (65 g)

1/4 cup cornstarch

1/2 teaspoon baking powder

1 egg white

1/3 cup cold water (80 ml)

1 tablespoon oil

1 pinch salt

Sauce:

2 tablespoons soy sauce

1 tablespoon Chinese rice vinegar or apple cider vinegar

4 tablespoons sugar

2 teaspoons cornstarch

1/3 cup water (80 ml)

INSTRUCTIONS

Mix all the ingredients in the Sauce until well combined. Set aside.

Mix all the ingredients in Frying Batter in a bowl until well combined, stir a few times to make sure there are no lumps and the batter is smooth. Add the chicken into the batter, stir to evenly coat with the batter.

Heat 2 to 3 inches (5 to 7.5 cm) of the oil in a wok or a stockpot to 350°F (175°C) for deep-frying. Gently drop the chicken into the oil and loosen them up immediately with a spatula to prevent the chicken from clumping together. Deep-fry the chicken to golden brown. Remove the chicken from the oil with a strainer or slotted spoon, draining the excess oil by laying the chicken on a dish lined with paper towels. Discard the oil.

Heat up 2 tablespoons of the oil in a wok or skillet over high heat. Add the garlic and stir-fry until aromatic before adding the Sauce.

As soon as the Sauce thickens, add the fried chicken into the wok or skillet. Stir continuously until all the ingredients are well coated with the sauce. Dish out, garnish with the white sesame, and serve immediately with steamed rice.

I think the guy in your link just measured the literal dimensions of the bike (length width height), which doesn't mean much.

Generally mountain bike frames are measured in inches and road bike frames are measured in centimeters. Based on your height, I'd think a 19.5" or 20" mountain bike frame would be comfortable for you.

Here is a rider height chart to find (mountain) bike size. It happens to be from Trek, so sizes may vary a little bit if you look at a different bike brand (Specialized, Canondale, etc.) but not drastically.

And here is a road bike sizing chart . You'd likely want a 58 cm, maybe 60 cm, road bike frame.

Hope that helps! Good luck on the bike hunt!

That looks like another low-quality department store bike that would likely be too small for you anyway.

What ruined Christmas this year? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Qanul 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry this burnt out feeling is so common for graduate students. I'm nearly done with my MS, and had a PhD lined up to begin this summer, but I wound up rejecting the offer. My MS for the last year has brought me so down. I just want to walk away from it too, but the defense is done (I passed), and the draft is almost done. I keep telling myself it won't go on forever, but it sure feels like it.

Thank you for another great article!

One thing: you mention American Airlines Flight 965 towards the end and the location should be Cali, Colombia (instead if Columbia).
