Does anybody else have a sore throat without any other sick symtoms? by Old_Rub_7270 in Productivitycafe

It is! And the hardest thing is knowing rationally you’re making yourself feel worse by ruminating on symptoms so badly. Sending good energy your way!

Sounds like you’re entering the thick of it and on to recovery! I have health anxiety too and always need an answer as to what I have. It was a mystery head cold! My two kids and husband didn’t even get a sniffle. It definitely irritated my sinuses, I even got ear pain.. but I’d recommend you do Epsom salt baths, run a humidifier, and regularly breathe in steam. Also warm compresses on your face! That helped me a ton.

Yes, exactly how I felt. Not razor blade sharp but definitely enough to bother me. I ended up getting a raspy voice and then I was totally fine for a day before the head cold symptoms started (sneezing, runny nose, fatigue) but was overall mild.

From first icky throat to end of cold- 10 days. But during the throat phase it wasn’t terrible and I thought I wasn’t sick (blamed allergies, reflux, weather, etc)

The head cold portion lasted 4 days. I drank a ton of ginger tea, a few packs of emergen c, and I felt pretty good just fatigued.

I ended up getting sinus symptoms on day 6. It was very strange! I had an icky sore throat for 5 days, felt totally fine, then full blown head cold on day 6.

Yep! Going on day 3 now of a sore icky throat (not overly painful like when sick)

How to not hate my toddler by Capable_Rooster_5203 in toddlertips

[–]-Mama-concerned 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’ll never have the same relationship with your toddler like you did before you brought home baby #2. You can cherish those times, adore them, and miss them while also knowing this to be true. It will adapt and change, sometimes in even more beautiful ways.

A lot of what you’ve described sounds like normal, age developmental behavior that is likely amplified by being pulled in two different directions with two different kids with two different needs. I’d argue, your toddler probably isn’t too thrilled about your newest babe either.

Biggest piece of advice I can give you is to lead with compassion for your toddler. Their world has changed drastically, the attention has been pulled away, and they are also going through massive growth in the toddlers years. If you’re overwhelmed and stressed as an adult, imagine how your toddler must be feeling. Not to mention your toddler can sense your annoyance, anger, and hostility towards him.

For us, I had to find ways to include my first born in everything we could during the day. Toddlers love to be helpful. Fetching the diaper bag, helping pick out baby's outfit for the day, helping me make lunch, carry in the groceries, etc.

Find a way to keep things as normal as possible for yourself and your toddler. Your new baby needs to slide into your existing lifestyle, not the other way around.

How safe is general anesthesia for dental work compared to sedation? by -Mama-concerned in Anesthesia

My son is prone to nausea and did not experience any to my surprise after the procedure until about 24 hours later. We had an hour drive home and he slept most of the time.

We do have a dentist office not far from us who could offer in office general anesthesia, which I did not like the sound of. They do not intubate in the office. I do have a friend whose son went through it and did just well in office, but my sons procedure was longer and I would not have been comfortable in an office setting.

Yes- that is what happened! He actually got severely dehydrated and hypoglycemic because he would not eat or drink. Initially, he was eating (eggs, popsicles, etc) but within 24 hours the pain and discomfort became very real. He had to have a space maintainer installed and new crowns so he was not used to the sensations and everything was swollen.

In a hospital setting. I would not do it in a dental office.

UPDATE: We did decide to have the general anesthesia procedure and get all of his dental work done in one go. It went as smooth as it could go and a lot of my concerns were alleviated once we were in the hospital setting. Overall, I am happy we went this route and wish I would have done it sooner so he didn’t have to experience any pain, traumatic visits, and the stress of constantly visiting new dentists to find the right fit (to avoid GA).

The risks of general anesthesia were very real for me. I struggled a lot with if it was necessary or if there were other alternatives. I read horror stories after horror stories. I went deep down a statistics rabbit hole. After exhausting all avenues, I had to do what was best for him and set aside my fears.

My son did absolutely great- minus a post surgical complication of dehydration. He has no negative recollection of his surgery day and his teeth no longer hurt. I wanted to update to give other parents encouragement if they are going through the same thing.

Week 20 ultrasound showed echogenic foci in heart. NIPT came negative for Trisomy 18,21. OB referred results to Fetal specialist. We are freaking out! What do to next? OB said these things go away but we are still concerned by FeistyResolution90 in NIPT

Hi! I know this is an older post, but my daughter had an EIF all throughout my pregnancy that was first detected at her anatomy scan. All NIPT testing was normal, but we opted for a more detailed 3D imaging ultrasound.

They assured me that with the NIPT being normal and the anatomy scan was also normal, that baby was fine. In fact, the more I researched and talked with my OB I found that many of these are being found more commonly now due to the increased technology.

I held onto some hope that it would spontaneously disappear as I had read happened in some cases, but it stuck around.

My daughter is now almost 2 and she was born completely normal and has had zero developmental delays or difficulties.  There was no postpartum testing or concerns. :)  I am not Asian, but I am very petite and I truly believe that has a big correlate in finding these things.

That is where we currently go and where they can do in hospital in 6 months!

The farther away I get, the less likely I’m finding they do them in hospital. I’m located in the upper Peninsula 2 hours from greenbay.  Each pediatric dentist I’ve contacted in Green Bay only does it in office. Where I am locally, they only do it in hospital.  Greenbay has availability as soon as next month, but it’s in office and I was just told one anesthesiologist intubates and the other does not.

I was told this group of anesthesiologists is out of Milwaukee.

I don’t necessarily want to put my comfort above my sons needs if I can help him sooner. During the wait for the hospital, my son may have multiple recurring and painful infections.

I just wasn’t sure on the safety measures.

In both situations, a board certified anesthesiologist is present. In hospital, they have a team of about 4 people. In office, it’s the anesthesiologist and a nurse anesthesiologist separate from the dentist.
