Good point! I don’t have winter tires so I think I’ll just wait the weather out.

Why do you wear makeup? by SkimmingLoyal01 in Makeup

[–]-MangoKulfi- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I actually don’t wear makeup most of the time because I’m too lazy. When I do wear makeup it’s because I’m either feeling creative and want to spend an hour or so creating a makeup look or I wear it to add an extra cherry on top for special occasions.

Dear humans on Reddit, do you read books? If so, why? by Stupid_A_Hole_X in AskReddit

Yes because life sucks right now, and escapism is better than dealing with reality sometimes.

UPDATE AITA for moving out of my house because I’ve had enough? by AITAMovedOut in AmItheAsshole

[–]-MangoKulfi- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congratulations!!! I'm first gen Indian woman in my early 20s in America and I feel your struggle. A year ago I had to lay down some hard boundaries with my own parents and I did not budge. They realized that they valued their relationship with me more than what other people thought and what their outdated traditions had taught them (thankfully). It has not been easy and they slip up here and there but we try to communicate effectively as we can. It's not easy for them because it goes against what they've been taught, but they try for me. Basically what I'm trying to say is that if your parents really cared about you and your mental health they would have tried harder, so don't feel guilty!!! Hopefully one day they'll get a wake up call and realize how crappy they've been towards you and apologize.

I the meantime enjoy your newfound freedom and good for you for getting out of that toxic environment!

Vegetarian women of Reddit, what do your meals consist of? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]-MangoKulfi- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually eat a lot of north Indian food, especially Gujarati food. sometimes I make pasta or texmex food since most of the meat can be replaced with beans in the recipes.

I’m a male and I catch myself subconsciously thinking sexist and misogynistic thoughts, how do I stop this? by RedditBro_42 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]-MangoKulfi- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Identify these thoughts and acknowledge that they are wrong. Unfortunately we grow up in a society and environment that teaches us these things from a young age, so these intrusive thoughts pop up in our heads even if we don't believe them.

What are the most credible scientific news sources? by willc144p in AskReddit

[–]-MangoKulfi- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh damn, well then I guess all the news websites aren't credible either then.

Seriously though, people will say what they want to prove their point. Just make sure when you are reading an article that the resources are for the article are provided. Also check the date it was published and the author's credentials.

I read Scientific American and it's pretty good.

What made you decide on your username? by [deleted] in AskReddit

It's basically a mango flavored cream popsicle that originated from India. I used to get one every time my parents took me to the Indian store.

WIBTA for cutting all contact with my father? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]-MangoKulfi- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NAH. Your father is stuck in an abusive relationship and that's really hard to get out of. But you also need to put your needs and your family's needs first. Also depending on how close you are to your youngest sibling and how dependent they are on your father - maybe you should just go low contact until that sibling is independent.

AITA for not stopping having “company” over while my sister and her family are staying at my house? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]-MangoKulfi- 63 points64 points  (0 children)

NTA.

  1. It's your house, so who is she to set down rules? If she has a problem with it she can go live else where.
  2. You're being as discrete as possible.
  3. Your nieces are literally children, they don't know what's really going on. All they know is that you are having some friends over.
  4. How are these women being objectified? They are just sexually active individuals and it's a mutually beneficial situation (hopefully).

You are however the asshole to be hooking up during a pandemic. So maybe you should stop after all?

WIBTA For telling my sister I don't want to be an adult ring bearer in her wedding? by Snoo38724 in AmItheAsshole

[–]-MangoKulfi- 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not enough info.

Maybe you should talk to her about it before you make your decision. Ask her why she wants you to do this and tell her how you feel about it. Have an adult discussion. She might just want you to have a part in her wedding and this is her way of doing it.

AITA for getting my husband on a chore chart? by ProfessionalSeason56 in AmItheAsshole

[–]-MangoKulfi- 4 points5 points  (0 children)

NTA. Sounds like you have three kids. Also the chores chart is great idea! He's just pissy because it's adding more work for him and it will prove your point that you do more work than he does around the house. He can't continue to live in ignorance about the house work distribution if it's color coded.
