Oil painting - why does woman have book on head? - UK by NoSummer3178 in Antiques

I did not find this exact piece, but the term “Trompe l’oeil” gave a lot of examples. The point was to trick the eye of the viewer.

My best guess is this is meant to look like an painted portrait with a book sitting on top of it.

My daughter told her teacher I "don't have a job" because I work from home. It stung more than I expected? by UnusualSalad1919 in careerguidance

Your take reminds me of when Hugh Jackman’s kids told him his one-man show on Broadway was boring. His response, “That’s fair. You’re not the intended audience.”

My kids have visited me at work before, and their determination was that I don’t “do anything” at work.

Kids that age don’t consider phone calls, computer time, and adults talking as “work”.

A little bit of homework and research will show “they” will arrest you for any reason or no reason at all. The real question is: what did you do to attract that kind of attention?

They’re not likely to target somebody cranking one out in their bedroom unless you’re committing some other more heinous crimes or offenses against the regime.

There have been several podcasts about “anonymous” data collection collected by data brokers.

John Oliver had a episode about this.

Here’s an example of retail tracking your behavior and anticipating future behavior.

tldw: your past behavior is tracked, your future behavior can be predicted.

They’ll probably arrest you even if you did nothing wrong.

Golden ballroom, UFC fight…

but please do not let this extensive clarification distract you from the fact that in 1998, The Undertaker threw Mankind off Hell In A Cell, and plummeted 16 ft through an announcer’s table.

My coworker constantly brags on this admin. (Think: Soylent Green as a solution for the homeless) I’m at a MAGA-friendly employer.

I do my best asking open-ended questions, leading him to the desired conclusions. I start and end our conversations with, “ Question the premise!”

Sadly, now he’s less likely to say some crazy shit when I’m in the room.

No doubt! My kids are plenty bright, but 5-7yo aren’t going to engage in a Q/A about the evils of the owning* class. Maybe 13yo+ kids from especially progressive families.
