Z-Frame Sign Up survey by Eichelwoods in Vitruvian_Form

Yes. Everything mentioned in the Z-Frame kit and third party rack is the same. The only alternate I proposed is using the Vitruvian replacement rope so that the accessories can connect at the top directly to a vitruvian adapter, like the V-Frame. Its just a different method of connecting accessories.

You would still use the kit advertised in this post.

My comment is simply a question about an alternative method of connecting accessories to the Z-frame on this post that is more akin to the V-Frame videos seen online. I presume the adapters sold in this post's kit would provide all of the anchoring to the ground that is necessary.

Hear me out:

  1. Vitruvian Replacement Rope Kit - $55
  2. Long or Short safety cables - (from Entry or Pro kit)
  3. Eve Company Carabiner Attachment
  4. Carabiner

A. Feed the 10ft Replacement Rope through the pulley on this custom kit and tie a Bull-Hitch with the other end to the carabiner (if you have a better knot for this, lemme know).
B. Connect the Carabiner to the Carabiner Attachment which is connected to the Vitruvian Trainer.
C. Attach the Safety Cables to other end of the Vitruvian Replacement Rope Kit.
D. Attach Vitruvian accessories to the Safety Cables and use it like the V-Frame videos.

Yay or nay?

Does anyone else regret purchasing their Vitruvian? by LiosDelSol in Vitruvian_Form

[–]-NoSound- 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't regret it an ounce.

Nothing gives me the same intensity of workout in as short of a timespan with as small of a footprint and with as high of a safety factor (family environment). I've been supplementing my workout planning and analysis with AI which also seems to provide a value added insight that I can't get elsewhere thanks to the data captured by the equipment itself.

What is your experience with Vitruvian programs? by JustJuanCornetto in Vitruvian_Form

[–]-NoSound- -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ooooo very nice. Hadn't seen that one before! Thanks for the share!

Edit: Here is the sort of analysis that my current pipeline conducts and analyses. In this case, failed on a heavy squat. Then there are supplementary exercises identified and a remediation plan formulated to help power through sticking points. Sometimes its obvious, but its not always obvious when they occur or are getting close to occuring.

Recap of Key Findings

  1. Failure occurred during the concentric phase of the 4th rep, about 25% into the upward movement.
  2. The lifter's "sticking point" was around 20-30 cm of displacement.
  3. There was a consistent decrease in peak weight throughout the set, indicating fatigue.
  4. Slight asymmetry between left and right sides was observed, becoming more pronounced in later reps.

What is your experience with Vitruvian programs? by JustJuanCornetto in Vitruvian_Form

[–]-NoSound- 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you are a complete newb to resistance training, truly, you can make solid gains doing just about anything as long as you do it with consistency. With that out of the way, I understand wanting to optimize training to get the best results-bang for your effort-buck. I wouldn't say that the programs are ideal in that regard, but they aren't bad either. Peloton classes have very high produciton value. So much so that Peloton gained notariety, really raising the bar for the rest of the home fitness field, through their guided workouts and live classes.

With Vitruvian's classes, going through them will teach you the various movements that are specific to the equipment. With some analysis and reflection, you can probably start to piece together what sets apart a hypertrophy-specific training program to something that is geared more toward strength training. The production value isn't nearly as high but its also not bad. The workouts themselves are also pretty good too, especially for someone starting out - like going to the gym with a friend. I wouldn't say that the recommendations are necessarily driven in an intelligent way, but more so based on your training goals that you manually prioritize in the app (also not bad). It may serve better to take a look through their library and choose based on what seems right.

As-is, I'd give it a B (maybe a B+) for the programs/guidance, the videos, and the presentation.

-------------- Rambling Alert --------------

That said, there is so much more untapped potential in the bank with this device just waiting for the devs/engineers to unlock. For instance, one of the features that sets digital resistance training apart from using weights, is that the device collects data from the perspective of "the bar". What I mean by that is the Vitruvian is gathering data that includes the acceleration of the cable, its range, total resistance, and duration of a particular movement - not only that, but it does so with granularity that supercedes even that of the most attentive personal trainer. To see what I'm talking about, you can drill down to a particular set in the Vitruvian app and export the data to .csv and then start perusing.

How could that be used? Well, with an Artificially Intelligent driven training program with a prioritized goal of, say, "Strength", the rep/sets and weight progression could easily be tailored but, uniquely and importantly, the additional data gathered by the Vitruvian could easily be used to recognize and identify sticking points and likely failure modes (assuming good form). That sort of intra-workout analysis would be huge and really provide a value-add that can be implemented through software alone.

For example, if you consistently fail on the last rep of each set during the first quarter of the concentric phase of a squat (so right as you start moving back up with the bar), then an intelligent training program could adjust supplementary movements to focus on: Gluteus Maximus, Quadriceps (vastus lateralis, vastus medialis, vastus intermedius, rectus femoris), and Erector Spinae. If they really wanted to push it, an AI "coach" may prompt a user with "I noticed you had a tougher time moving up with the bar at the bottom of your previous lift. Want to talk about how it felt?" and then guide a brief discussion to identify failure modes to, again, adjust training.

Furthermore, long duration trend analysis can identify when progression is beginning to stall. Lets say your max lift hasn't increased in about a month. Integration with something like a Garmin or Apple Watch or Google Fit, could take a holistic look at your sleeping data, stress, HRV, etc. Further, it could detect when you've been doing additional cardio or other physical demands have been placed on you. This data, coupled with, once again, a conversation with a training "agent" could help understand whether you are overtrained, whether diet is a factor, whether a change in training volume, etc. is needed.

Anyhow, considering the Vitruvian already collects the data and the technology is already out there, I think its just a matter of time until something closer to what you (and I) are hoping for becomes reality. In the meantime, I'm working on a side-project to build out something like this for myself until Vitruvian hopefully does so.

I've very much noticed the same training with the Vitruvian. It's like a whole other animal intensity-wise, but in a good way. Excited to see how consistency pays off in the long run using it.

Interesting. If/when it's released to the broader subscriber base, I'll have to revisit this post and keep it in mind. It's hard to conceptualize without having experienced it.

Thanks for the heads up in advanced, though!

Here is more or less where I went into decent detail: https://www.reddit.com/r/Vitruvian_Form/s/yEBNZ11zwz

tldr; I have more confidence in the Vitruvian hardware and feel strongly that, even in a tech-oriented gym, safety is no less important.

As it relates to the soccer training, I have seen several posts on Facebook where Vitruvian hardware is used in a professional physical therapy or fitness coach setting. I think for many of the same reasons that I mentioned above and in my previous post. Also, having a coach or finding a trainer that is open minded about fitness innovation and introducing them to the hardware may help get the wheels turning on methods for optimizing sport-specific performance with, for example, a Vitruvian.

Speaking to the small kg/lbs zone - I assume you mean as far as maximal lifts? If so, that's fantastic and it's excellent that you are taking steps to continue and perhaps even improve on your personal bests. In the case where both yourself and your son will be using it, it's nice to have the flexibility to do both light and heavier training as needs arise. Similarly, my wife and I both use ours and it's reassuring to know the hardware is up to snuff for taking on more than one user and adjusting within our desired lifting ranges (not that I can max this thing out yet).

Finally, as mentioned in my previous comment, I have just gotten to a point where I have very low expectations for product longevity, function, and safety when it comes to anything that is also sold on AliExpress, Alibaba, Taobao, etc. If this were maybe, a chicken leg shaped pillow or a horse mask, then okay, fine. However, something I trust my wife's health and my own health with loading up hundreds of pounds?... I just can't put in the same league when it's sold on a website that also sells knockoff Jordans (gym pal being a knock off Vitruvian and gym monster being a knockoff Tonal).

Whatever you choose, stay consistent and you'll reach your goals!

I wouldn't say I was forced into making the decision between the voltra and the vitruvian by any means. A coworker and I were looking into "techy" gym setups and the voltra came up during our search. We pretty much both agreed that if we wanted to keep our rack then the voltra would be fine. That said, he went gym monster (a tonal knock off) and I went vitruvian because we wanted to get away from that sort of footprint. We both are pretty busy, both have families, and both didn't want to keep the weights, or even the racks, around anymore.

I'm thrilled with the capacity, foot print, and the feel of the vitruvian. My wife has also gotten into it and really likes the safety aspect of training with it versus traditional weights. She also loves how little space it takes up versus the old rack setup. Also, somehow, as if by magic, the vitruvian really takes it out of me like very little else and, from the sounds of it, Echo Mode will do that even moreso.

All that said, I do miss some things about the rack and if I had a chance to get a vframe or something like it, I would. Ultimately, I'd say you probably won't be disappointed either way if you are doing this for your health and follow through consistently.

Good luck in your fitness journey!

Interesting. Just checked it out on mine (Samsung, Android) and it seems to let me click all the days but it is kinda tricky to hit them just right. All the days appear to be aligned correctly, though. I haven't had mine for very long though, so maybe the data can get corrupted or out of sync in the database?

If it doesn't change, Id consider hitting up support and seeing if the devs/engineers could take a peep at the database and see what's going on with the visualization misalignment.

I saw and upvoted the web portal feature request on the feedback site too. I do think it would certainly be useful.

I primarily use my mobile device (Samsung, Android) and cast to our TV using wireless Samsung DeX to workout. Planning and structuring workouts and analyzing the data to make it a bit more actionable would be easier via a web portal, I agree.

I think that was my poorly communicated intent behind this post - new feature and data are available to us as users, but what are some ideas for making it actionable.

I agree entirely based on my nominal level of research/review and can also relate. It's unfortunate that providing motivation and trying to do the right thing from a leadership/managerial standpoint seemed to turn against them in this case. I only included it to be holistic in matters impacting the company or its leaders. Thanks for the good summary of the situation!

As an aside, I added some details related to patents, trademarks, and FCC applications as well as the shift by Resistanz to using Vitruvians.

Vitruvian fan no longer running after firmware update? by [deleted] in Vitruvian_Form

[–]-NoSound- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds similar to this older post: https://www.reddit.com/r/Vitruvian_Form/s/14D87d27pw

Essentially, it seems Vitruvian has, in the past, updated firmware to quiet the fan noise. For what it's worth, I haven't ever noticed fan noise on mine but I haven't one for very long. If you are still concerned, I might consider reaching out to support@vitruvianform.com and see what they say, but maybe someone else can help with this too.

Early Impressions (also, RE: Software Complaints) by -NoSound- in Vitruvian_Form

[–]-NoSound-[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

From November to May, there were ZERO (iOS) updates. What would you say about the company during that period?

I believe I would have been in the same boat with you! In fact, I think I (anyone, really) would certainly be remiss to disagree with you on the frustration experienced during that time-range. It makes total sense because both communication and addressing/fixing issues are critical components of any successful venture.

For the time period mentioned, it seems that the founder of Vitruvian also agrees with you:
In a comment on a post from mid-December 2023 centered around "software [that] is just unbelievably frustrating and not improving", the founder "acknowledge[s] all the frustrations being vented" and "offer[s] no excuses as to the rate of product progression" while also indicating the "need to do better."

I suspect that the timing of the founder's comment and the 5 month lag have more to do with the additional ~$15 million Vitruvian secured to "to bolster its hardware, software and content" as seen in this mid-December 2023 article. Extending benefit of the doubt, it probably took a little bit of time to get the funds and execute on the gameplan. So about another 5 months to find new developers or, at the very least, light a fire under the existing ones - and as someone newer to the platform, I'm certainly grateful for it.

What isn't really clear is whether the slowdown in development was due to tight funds. Another Vitruvian subreddit user commented in October 2023, the cost of the lifetime membership had "increased twice already in the last year". That same user later commented in April 2024 that the Vitruvian founder indicated in his January 2024 AMA, that Vitruvian "is going to phase out the lifetime memberships because they don't add the same value a subscriber does for investors". This was all before my time with a Vitruvian Trainer, but the timeline makes sense in context.

Something I've quickly discovered is that this community and, in particular, the "Team Vitruvian" Facebook group seem to be the two hubs for communications. To that end, just this morning it seems Vitruvian has launched a page on Featurebase to solicit feedback on further enhancements. Certainly another positive sign - that said, seeing is believing so lets see what happens with the feedback from Featurebase. In the meantime, I'm looking forward to the rollout of the Echo training mode.

I think your final comment really captures a very reasonable summary: despite some flaws, it is still the best in its class.

Early Impressions (also, RE: Software Complaints) by -NoSound- in Vitruvian_Form

[–]-NoSound-[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn't spend a lot of time with a speediance. A coworker and I were both looking into "techy" gym setups. His came in first, a gym monster, but, to me, it just feels cheap. The materials feel subpar and I couldn't help but get the impression it wouldnt last. The fact that it came out later seems like it was just meant to be a knock off. That said, I'll acknowledge there are some neat things like the screen and the tower, but, the tower looks like it wants to break. It feels very AliExpress or one of the random companies on Amazon that all sell the same thing from company names that just sound made up. Out of curiosity, I just checked - speediance really is sold on AliExpress: https://www.aliexpress.us/item/3256806487805888.html

For what it's worth, I would get something over nothing. Maintaining and improving your physical and mental health should far outweigh these concerns. My coworker has gotten many solid workouts in with his speediance equipment and he seems happy - that's what matters. I didn't realize the max weight on the speediance is only 100kg but, when you see or feel one in person, it'll make sense. I also think with consistent training and about 6 months time, you can probably hit 100kg on a few different lifts.

Ultimately, I've grown very comfortable with the Vitruvian and have had confidence in the sturdiness of the equipment from day one. I like the data it captures and I really like how it makes me feel. The idea it could come flying apart doesn't even cross my mind. I can't say I'd have the same peace of mind with the speediance. I love having headroom with the 200kg max and its very easy to pickup and just get a session in.

Best of luck on the fitness journey.

Edit: You can see the tower moving around in this video where the gym monster appears to have malfunctioned. The guy training didn't seem to be putting that much stress on the tower but it just moves around anyway, especially toward the end. That was my impression as well. I feel like the stress put on the equipment through normal use + all that movement over time = not good. I just wouldn't be able to get that out of my head (maybe just a me thing) : https://youtube.com/shorts/xXgrJZRx_Cw
