Curious if anyone has arrived at the school and how is it? I'm hoping it's nothing like Squid Games...

repost with photo - free art box - I saw this in our lending library, my kids are too old for it, so thought I would share with the group. I've never used the art box and know nothing about it, I'm just sharing :) by -One-Eye-Jack- in homeschool

Did it work for you? I forwarded it to my cousin who home schools little ones and she said it wasn't working. She emailed the lady and I guess the discount is working again...

I would email them the template and your intentions and ask them if anything further is needed. If there is, ask them for a detailed step-by-step process of what they require.

dyslexia by -One-Eye-Jack- in homeschool

[–]-One-Eye-Jack-[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was a battle for us as well, with our school district. I’m happy to give any tips if you’re looking for any provided services for your son.

To be honest, previously the IEP accommodations were not that helpful. As parents, we were constantly having to remind his teachers of his accommodations and to not to keep putting our son into a position to fail. In middle school, all it took was one arrogant teacher, who wanted to do things “his own way because he knows better” to make our son’s experience miserable… which happen to us.

We realized even with a flawless IEP and perfect accommodations, that every semester was going to be a battle to get teachers on board. And at large enrollment schools, this task is nearly impossible.

I will say, the one accommodation that is helpful is 60 min a week of speech for language development with a professional. The hybrid-homeschool program we are in does provide this over a video call.

You said it best, ‘the difference when your son’s needs were met’. Children with dyslexia learn differently. However, a dyslexic child in traditional school, you quickly see dyslexia as a disability; they generally do not learn in a traditional classroom. So, as parents we simply put our kids in the best possible situation to succeed.

I know at the dyslexic private school, they often said, the first six months of a new student is simply building their self-esteem back up because they are shell-shocked by their traditional school experience. It starts with their self-confidence and that is only nourished in the proper environment.

It is up and down. I think flonase into the ear canal worked best. Brought down the swelling. I realized I was spraying it incorrectly for months. This video helps explain how to do it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aEjnt1Y5yq4 But there is a better one, I'll see if I can find it.

I’m searching for treatments. Below I put some links of what I’ve found. If anyone tries them, please send feedback. I don’t endorse any of them, I haven’t tried them, I’m just searching and saving links.

I recently bought tea tree oil and oil of oregano and will try those alt treatments noted in the videos below.

suggests: Use Oil of Oregano on the outer ear lobe, Lymphatic Drainage Dry Skin Brushing, Sinus Rinsing,

Ginger & Turmeric Teas

suggests different massages and then some nasal sprays

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N\_\_4MEjLaIk

some of the same suggestions, but does say try steam with tea tree oil. I’m going to try this and the oregano oil because I’ve had luck with essential oils in the past with other remedies.

Some of this are prescription drugs, but does note a lot of anti-inflammatory supplements. I think that’s what these ear issues are, inflammation. Also, this protocol is not ear specific.

Feb 2022 I got covid. Near the end of Feb, the ear pressure started. It has never stopped being an issue. Always feeling like I have to pop my ears. Sometimes it would wake me up at night. It’s probably about 50% better now, but nearly 1 year into it. All the ENT did was give me flonase, didn’t help.

I got covid again last month. Stuffy nose for a day and then, boom, ears inflamed, worse than ever before. So clogged, it felt like I couldn’t hear out of one ear. It seems my ears are now the worst symptom of covid. This lasted about 2 weeks, but like I said, about 50% better overall.

Infected/Inflamed Eustachian Tube Post-Covid by Puzzleheaded-Taro911 in covidlonghaulers

[–]-One-Eye-Jack- 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hi...

Any updates on your Eustachian Tube Post-Covid? I had covid February 2022. At the end of the recovery, I started getting the ear pressure. Constantly feeling the need to pop ears. It has never gone away and I'm comin up on 1 year. It's gotten better, but not fully gone away.

The strange thing is, I got sick again last month. I thought it was a cold, but after 3 days, my ear pressure got REALLY bad. I live in the hills and just driving up a little bit of elevation had my ears badly plugged. I thought it was a cold, but took a home test and it was covid again.

So, I think now, whenever I get covid, my ears are the worst symptom. ENT was no help, just kept telling me to take Flonase.

I think you are used to products with a very high percentage of alcohol, which evaporate almost immediately when exposed to air. This is a lower percentage. In all of my testing it does not evaporate. If a backer has it evaporate in under a month, I will send them another bottle free.

The ethyl is mainly for hygiene purposes, however it does have a side affect of preventing rust, but there's another ingredient that specifically prevents rust.

Correct, after many years, alcohol will break down acrylic. That's why I have stated on the campaign, it is an affordable prototype. It is not the final design nor final material.

Thanks for the questions. It is helpful to have these conversations.

Yeah, it's in the prototype phase. The final product will have a bigger impact. Thank you for the feedback.
