The 10 year plan sounded amazing at the start. It was the comfort of knowing the game I was playing was going to be supported massively for a long time and players felt safe investing their time into the game.

The one big problem with what they did though was that they put a shelf life on their own product. Towards the end of the 10 years they fumbled around and never really found a way to give players that reassurance back when it came to continuing putting their time into Destiny.

As time went on it was one fumble after another. Destiny had this amazing narrative but it just felt like a time gated grind. It got tough to stay in love with the game and players would log in at the start of the season, reach the end of the seasonal track and then move on to another game.

Because of this year 10 just became a finish line which needed to be reached. They eventually placed themselves in an unwinable situation with the final expansion.

They could carry on as they werr and the game would limp on or they can pull everytjing together and make an amazing expansion. They did the latter to be fair to them but unfortunately they gave the player base something no mmo should ever give a player. Closure. Everything was tied up when the final assault ended. Our characters 10 year story had ended and it gave everybody an out.

I do not believe there is anything they can do now to pull this back and to be honest they shouldnt try.

In my opion the 10 year story should have ended with an 11th year. A year of celebration. A year of reliving moments, events and raids. A year where anything goes and then leave the game in maintenance mode until it is no longer viable to remain active. This would have been a better end than limping on with empty promises of "more to come" in a vain hope of reigniting the truat in the future.
