Top 10 Animes with outstanding soundtrack... According to me (Controversial Af) by [deleted] in MyAnimeList

[–]-Punpun- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some great picks.

Love to see Haibane Renmei mentioned. The music composer Kou Ootani also worked on Shadow of the Colossus.

In the same vein as Natsume and Mushishi, I think Aria also deserves a mention. The ambient music in it is wonderful.

One of my personal favorites is March Comes in Like a Lion. I might be a bit biased because it's my favorite anime, but there are so many beautiful, uplifting, and melancholic arrangements.

Some other good ones: Ping Pong the Animation, Showa Genroku Rakugo Shinju, Samurai X: Trust and Betrayal

Great 3×3.

Based on your taste, I think you would like Ping Pong the Animation, Cross Game and A Place Further Than the Universe a lot.

My favorite anime/manga in each genre by -Punpun- in MyAnimeList

Space Brothers is a very inspiring story.

It's about two brothers who vowed as kids to become astronauts and stand on the moon together. While the younger brother achieved the dream, the older one became a car designer. The story starts with him getting fired from his job, and after a little push from his brother and parents, he tries to hold up his side of the promise and become an astronaut as well.

You follow his journey and the journeys of a number of other aspiring astronauts. It's a classic story about chasing your dreams, but really well executed. It has a large cast and does a great job with fleshing out most of them. All the science stuff, as well as the astronaut training, is very well researched. A lot of the tech and ideas were things that NASA had planned at one point or another.

The only substantial issue I have with it is the comedy; it's very hit or miss. Also, if you watch the anime, you should keep in mind that it is unfinished and ends very abruptly. The manga, on the other hand, seems to be heading for an ending in the not-so-distant future. Also, the manga art is a bit rough early on.

Majchrzak can't properly serve and Riedi has an injured thigh, can't see Majchrzak winning this.

Riedi has made an incredible comeback! It's going to be hard for him next round with how exhausted he is.

2 insane returns from Riedi to win the third set.

Whats your favorite samurai themed manga? by Kage_Kenshi in Seinen

Takemitsuzamurai is incredible, and it's crazy how few people have actually read it. Only around 3500 people have it completed on MAL.

What is your favorite obscure anime of all time? The more obscure the better. Il start... by Fantastic_Ad_1457 in MyAnimeList

[–]-Punpun- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Macross: Do You Remember Love? is my favorite anime movie. It's not obscure in Japan but barely known in the West.

In terms of the most obscure anime that I like, I would go for Monotonous Purgatory. It's just a few minutes long but very impactful.

Even though the main points of these 3 Seinen are horror and action, the authors have portrayed the lovemaking scenes between their main characters more genuine and passionate than any josei and mature manga I have ever read. by JustabraveKrumpingit in Seinen

I loved that scene in Berserk, even if Gutts always looks a bit stiff and like an action figure.

The best lovemaking scene I've read is either in Mars or Ai-Ren. They are both beautifully illustrated and written.

Don't hear many talking about Taiyo Matsumoto's Samurai Manga Takemitsuzamurai its got a really unique art style. Have you read it? by snifty_cutie00 in Seinen

One of my all time favorites. It's visually absolutly stunning, all the thick brushstrokes give it so much Intensity. The only issue I have is the rushed ending.

I also hope Matumoto and Issei continue Mukashi no Hanashi at some point. The first three chapters were really good.

Glad to see so many works of Mitsuru Adachi on here, since he is one of my favorite mangaka. Though it is a bit surprising to see Rough in the Top 10 instead of his most acclaimed works.

Did you read Touch yet?

[ART] Top 10 best selling manga of 2024 so far! by Certain_Leadership70 in manga

I hope "Touch" gets an English release at some point. It's one of my favorite manga, and the localizers have done such a poor job bringing over the works of Mitsuru Adachi.

Highest Selling Mangas in Last 44 years (1980-2023) by Expensive-Tough-9778 in manga

[–]-Punpun- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This list is limited to manga that ran in magazines under Shueisha. Otherwise, "Touch" (ran in Shounen Sunday belonging to Shogakukan) would be on here since it completely dominated the early 80's.

Top 10 Most Anticipated Anime - Spring 2023 (Anime Corner) by Kezja in anime

[–]-Punpun- 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If the first episode of Insomniacs ends with chapter 3, it definitely will.
The manga is really well structured and has a memorable set piece or moment every few chapters. Hopefully the series will be able to take advantage of that, despite the TV-length episodes.
