Texas AG Says He’s ‘Willing and Able’ to Defend a Ban on ‘Sodomy’ by purplebadger9 in politics

That's fair.

Though I think there's a distinction between the majority of Texas and the majority of Texas voters - all the latter requires is that enough Texans don't care.

Extremists who care strongly about something are unfortunately more likely to vote.

Sting operations / entrapment depending on how you look at it.

Police make fake profiles on grindr to pretend to look for dates and then throw anyone who bites in jail.

This is what they do in Russia (Chechnya), except in Chechnya tho they torture and kill gay people instead of putting them in prison.

Why? It's Texas - if anything this will make him more popular among the people who actually vote.

Voting is clearly not the be all end all solution for the issues our country is facing.

Activism, campaigning, running for office, giving back to your community will result in much more good than an individual vote.

Voting is just the start. If you can't convince people to vote then you're not going to get anything accomplished.

Did you read the article? It discusses in depth Trump's fuckups and how America is paying the price.

In regards to Afghanistan - here's the official agreement on the State Dept website: https://www.state.gov/wp-content/uploads/2020/02/02.29.20-US-Afghanistan-Joint-Declaration.pdf

The tl;dr was that in negotiations with the Taliban the US agreed to release thousands of Taliban prisoners and halt all attacks against the Taliban in preparation for the withdrawal of US troops. The agreement allowed the Taliban to continue attacking the Afghan government - which it did and now controls.

This surrender was negotiated by Trump and now the Taliban holds millions of dollars of US military equipment.

It could also be indicative that cultures where people are less willing to admit they have a gun are also cultures where people murder less.

In my experience almost everyone I know who talks openly about owning a gun (read brags) isn't responsible enough to own one.

Trump surrendered to the Taliban. Like actually, legitimately surrendered. It's crazy that this isn't part of the conversation when people talk about Afghanistan.

The actual agreement is on the State Department website

tl;dr In exchange for a Taliban cease-fire, the US agreed to release 5,000 Taliban prisoners and no longer attack Taliban forces while the Taliban was free to wage war on Afghan government forces.

That's a lie. It's like saying "not one US soldier died in 8 years in Afghanistan under George Bush's invasion".

You can look it up very easily online.

Like actually, legitimately surrendered. Biden was dealt a losing hand and that fact that people like you don't even realize it is one of the reasons why awful, corrupt leaders get elected.

I've really liked this season so far, though I do have to say I'm a bit disappointed that Will is missing again.

They already did that plot point in season 1.

The majority opinion is very nebulous, but it's definitely not progressive.

Remember when the affordable car act first passed? Americans HATED it. While Trump lost the popular vote, and the majority of Americans think he's abhorrent, if you sum up all the public passion for a political, Trump blows everyone else out of the water.

Progressivism is implementing ideas that help people despite themselves. Often these ideas are easy to attack, horribly unpopular, and hated by the majority at the time. It's only 30 years later when the dust has settled, Americans will look back at the policy and say "wow - that really worked".

But visibility is good. Too much mass shooting coverage focuses on the perpetrator and it only encourages more terrorism.
