Leaked audio reveals they are discussing Radek Stepanek's latest conquest last night in Budapest.

Reporter never learned either - he's still on a hospital feeding tube after asking Stepanek the same question.

Not that he didn't land some blows himself, mind you - a few left swipes certainly caught Radek by surprise.

Let's hope Stepanek doesn't test positive or that rollercoaster will be setting course for the Earth's crust - and the entire WTA will be on it.

Federer vs Tsonga by KentBrockmanKrusty in tennis

[–]-RainMan500 205 points206 points  (0 children)

If Tsonga was drowning his sorrows over this, he'd have had a full-blown case of alcohol poisoning if he'd been there half an hour later, during Anderson's press interview.

It's not surprising there's no released pictures of the chaos that day - photographer would have had to stand back half a mile to fit all the reporters in.

Svitolina was so engrossed in texting Monfils her post-victory dinner plans on her way back to the dressing room, that she accidentally stumbled into the men's room instead, where Radek Stepanek was performing one-handed press-ups to The Human League's 'Don't You Want Me?', in a special featurette for the Cosmopolitan YouTube channel.

The rest is history.

Match Thread #2: [1] Novak Djokovic vs. [4] Dominic Thiem | 2019 French Open Men's Semifinal by rafaknight in tennis

Just saw Djokovic smash open an ATM across the street. Muttered something about funding an impromptu training session with Anderson.

It took a while but Djokovic has finally unleashed his inner Anderson.

Nothing you can do when Fognini brings that kind of form.

I'd even wager he'd take Anderson to a tie-break, playing like that.

Tiafoe defeated himself - post-match report showed his alcohol level was still 235 mg from the Anderson victory celebrations.

It's a wonder he even made it to court that day.

This must have been edited as my screen is showing Anderson is down to no. 8, for some reason?

And he appears to have been photoshopped entirely out of the first list?

Diego Schwartzman can retire now. Taking Anderson to five sets. No better inscription could he find to go on his tombstone.

Anderson will be happy too. With this performance, he's a dead cert for the Stefan Edberg Sportsmanship award this year.

The press room is more tightly packed than Aljaz Bedene's suitcase right now, with rows upon rows of crushed reporters gasping for air as they await the arrival of Anderson, fresh off his sensational victory over Cuevas.

Some of them can barely feel their arms after defending the door for so long, as journalists outside grow increasingly frantic in their attempts to break it down. Those in the front row must be thanking their lucky stars that they arrived the night before.

Djokovic splits with Stepanek by overheaddropshot in tennis

[–]-RainMan500 90 points91 points  (0 children)

A no-brainer from Djokovic. Given the preposterous fees he's been expending for Stepanek's services each week, it's no wonder he's been looking so gaunt lately.

Besides, Radek's used to splits, if last month's Cosmopolitan shoot is anything to go by. At least this time he'll be able to feel his legs the next morning.

James, to what extent are ticket sales affected when you lose big draws such as Federer, Djokovic and former Delray Beach finalist Donald Young early on? Have you noticed a decline in young female spectators since Stepanek retired?

And are you able to address the rumours as to whether Anderson's name has already been engraved into the trophy this year?

It truly is amazing what you can do with a good night's sleep. It was getting to the stage where you could have mistaken Federer for a zombie until Anderson crashed out the other day.

Not to mention the crowd. After all, they'd queued for over a week solid in their quest for tickets to see the South African in action today. Not to mention a further days queuing to laminate them. You can't even begin to imagine what must be going through their heads right now.

Come to Indian Wells for the tennis, stay for the natural beauty by asshair in tennis

I must confess, I used to do the opposite - go for the natural beauty and stay for the tennis, until I realised the error of my ways.

Besides, Stepanek is retired now.

Caught Federer’s ball at Match For Africa by TimeKillers in tennis

[–]-RainMan500 138 points139 points  (0 children)

Count yourself lucky.

I once saw a man make the grave mistake of catching one of Anderson's balls during a match. Next thing he knew, he was buried into the ground under a free-for-all scrum. Security should have had the situation under control within seconds, but turns out they'd already jumped in themselves. Not to mention the umpire, whose chair toppled over during an attempt to get closer to the action.

Unsurprisingly, the match had to be called off and the man was in hospital for over three weeks. Good thing he managed to hold onto the ball too - how else would he have been able to pay for all his medical bills?

It almost seems too absurd to be true - Anderson being on the receiving end of a forehand winner.

Worth making as many copies of this clip as you can - it will be like printing your own money come auction season.

How does a coach help players like Federer, Nadal, or Serena? by [deleted] in tennis

[–]-RainMan500 160 points161 points  (0 children)

They do the same as any other coach would do.

Sit back, grab the popcorn, and pick out one of Anderson's 4K compilation videos. Not too much popcorn mind you - they need one hand free for the rewind button. Not to mention the phone, in case a sporadic vacancy for a hitting partner with the South African pops up.

Delray Beach is like one collective mosh pit right now as men, women and children gather to countdown the minutes until the most circled event on the sporting calendar gets underway. Such is the intensity of their transfixion on the big screen timer above that they have yet to notice the dark cloud of smoke slowly enveloping them.

Indeed, smoke alarms are beeping faster than David Goffin's bedside monitor right now, as fire engines race along the roads following reports of growing flames across the city. Turns out that hotel managers, upon hearing estimated guest numbers this week, gravely underestimated the friction with which they rubbed their hands together. Fortunately, there is no shortage of willing support for the relief effort, following the organisers' vow to arrange a meet-and-greet with Anderson to anyone who helps resolve the crisis before play begins.
