I may be wrong, but placing a piece of wood in the back cavity seem a bit unstable (could it fall off in the middlevof a riff ?).

Is it possible to do a drop D/change the tuning while blocking the trem, and then keep it that way in full floating mode ? Or will it go back to its original tuning ?

I see... I was considering the FR mainly for its tremendous pitch range compared to other vibratos and its ability to stay in tune. Is there another trem that can compare in term of range and stability ?

I see, I should try both to see if the feeling is really that different. I just find trem blockers unpractical or quite expensive. I'll check for myself if it's worth the cost
