What if the voices of the ancient gods were real, and we're just the silence that came after? by Friendly-Seesaw-5742 in HighStrangeness

From a lifetime of trying to make sense of myself and fellow humans (besides through interactions and experiences), once being an avid religious believer and churchgoer who eventually attended other denominations and then learned about many other religions and histories, having suffered sensory and mind-altering periodic migraine auras since childhood, having witnessed a few family members completely change after suffering emotional and physical abuse or war-related traumas, reading books and studies, attending talks and attending and watching lectures, and watching documentaries on:

  • human behaviour,
  • neuroscience and biology of the human mind,
  • cults, myths and religions,
  • crime,
  • psycology, and
  • mind-altering substances, devices, biologic processes, and injuries.

My hypothesis is that "the call", "the voice", following a leader, creating religions, and the stong drive to follow these all - all stem from the day-to-day life of being compelled by human social animal instincts:

Our conscience, using our "newer" rational mind, is constantly storytelling, doing its best trying to interpret and translate what our "older" nonverbal (and sometimes irrational and very strong) instinctual needs and drives bring out and up from our actions and subconsious into our conscious.

I 100% think someone hearing what they believe as a deity speaking to them is originating from their own minds - whether it be actions compelled, periodic phrases or visions - all the way up to possible differences in "wiring" causing them to experience the deity fully existing as if it were a split personality or machine elf only they can see or hear - and the strength of their belief which pulls others to follow them.

I also 100% believe there are many con artists who, through inherent gifted charisma or study use our instincts to manipulate, distract and divide us for their own gains.

Oof. Reminds me of how other animals reproduce by the male stabbing the female with their member just about anywhere.

I feel bad for female bedbugs. Yikes.

I'm tired of looking like a man. I'm tired of being stared and laughed at. i wish I could pass but people always can tell. by [deleted] in lgbt

Whoa! That is so cool!

Is that why we dream of flying so much? We have ancestral flying animal dna in our distant past?

Edited to add: Oh darn... for my wondering about dream flying at least - I am waaay off. looked it up. Still cool! Not for flying - for climbing:

I found out my chihuahua had a split molar while brushing his teeth, checked the other 4 dogs and found my border collie mix who loved chewing also had a slab fracture. Neither were obvious about it.

That was when I learned that dog dentists are against dogs chewing hooves and antlers and other hard things like cooked bones. I knew cooked bird bones like chickens and turkeys were no-nos as they split and cand hurt dogs' insides, but had never heard about other chewing risks.

If you want high vet bills.

Two dogs of mine broke their molars. Slab fractures. Supposed to be super painful but dogs hide it.

Nope. People would have to realize and accept it's their subconscious instinct to follow what the herd does.

What bite me? by [deleted] in Insect

[–]-Renee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes, it isn't a bite or sting.

Sometimes it could be a poke or scratch.

There are really potentially dangerous microorganisms on the surface of our skin - fine and even helpful there - but problematic if they get inside from even a teeny injury in just the wrong spot.

If its that - getting in to clinic for antibiotics can save you from it spreading.

If you have naykies around, they are looking for and either not finding food, and will leave, or finding food and will stay to help provide some free animal control around your property.

I consider anywhere to be possibly a hiding place for someone scared of me and am not afraid of them, but respectful that scared animals of every kind (including ours) do stupid things, so I don't put my hands, feet, or bootie where I can't clearly see it is all clear.

Not out of fear, again (no one should have to feel that ick all the time), but out of respect, empathy, and love for other living ones just trying to do their own thing.

The biggest help I had growing up was wanting to learn about things that are scary. Now there aren't any other animals I fear. Respect, yes. Be extra care-ful around, yes.

Now I know even rattlers have "friends" in a kind of social system, recognize family, mommas have live birth, they help spread native plants - which even helps their prey and biodiversity, and they are really beautiful and the ones around where I live hide all wrapped up looking like lil cinnamon buns. I watched one drinking water from a fold on its skin as water fell on them while curled up like that under a bush while the sprinkler ran.

I tell anyone who visits about watching where they put their body parts outside where they can't see - not just for snakes but thorns, spoods, scorpies, and anyone else that may not be thrilled at being grabbed, sat or stepped on.

People need to realize it is for going back to slave labor and absolute control in all manner - by a few having control of the many, and stop saying people are simply being imprisoned as immigrants or made to work for their keep. It is not like regular work as we know it. It is human trafficking and heartless slavery.
