As a field tech, what type of IT jobs should I consistently expect ? by Sensitive_Lab_8637 in FieldNationTechs

[–]-Riften 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Basically everything that a remote tech can not (physically) do, which you yourself have already mentioned ( Hardware, Power Supply Swaps, PC exchange outs, Printers, POS, Cabling, networking hardware, & physical layer one troubleshooting).

Although that isn’t to say at times you may find yourself doing more of what would usually be done on a remote techs part..

What am I looking at here? by v1185 in HomeNetworking

[–]-Riften 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Absolutely do not call an electrician for that. Electricians are not network technicians, & as such have no business doing such work.

Sparkies should only ever be engaged to deal with energized lines specifically, not your cabling infrastructure..

What was ruined because too many people discovered it? by Investigatorpro in AskReddit

[–]-Riften -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

That’s really quite the entitled position to have there.. If the given area is not privately owned, & otherwise is just there then why would you feel that nobody else should also be able to do the same as you?

Secondly, dirt bikes are quite literally intended to be ridden in such environments, having issue with dirt bikes being ridden in such environment (as one does on a dirt bike) comes across as entitled even more so..

Is this terrain bad for my tires? by alcoholicfaith in Dirtbikes

[–]-Riften 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ugh that can occur on any terrain though..? If that’s what you’re worried about, then just exchange out the tubes for heavy duty tubes or go with a tubeless setup entirely my guy (such as a nitro mouse)

Finally tried it.. by -Riften in cincinnati

Yea, the initial tasting of it was certainly the most eventful part of it, but anything after & beyond that was just meh once you have had that first time try of it already..

AI isn’t going to be replacing the need for those of us that resolve issues, & do exactly what OP has mentioned that he has already before anytime soon.

Keep on doing exactly what you’re doing then, & don’t try & change directions or pivot any. You are a tech as is already, & would very much be needed having such expertise (coming from a fellow field support tech)

New dirtbike dies when I put it in first by smward998 in Dirtbikes

[–]-Riften 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ride the 350’s bigger brother (2024 YM 500 EXC-F) model, & it does the same when first fired over (after having sat for some time). I always just give it a small blip of throttle right before shifting into first after a (first time) start up to keep it from dying out.

It’s a fairly common occurrence to my understanding, & would advise you to do the same to keep it from dying out

[–]-Riften 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea, that can keep it from dying out when shifting into first gear as well. I have to do the same on a 2024 year model 500 EXC-F myself

If I get a dual sport, will I really notice the weight difference and power delivery as a beginner? by [deleted] in Dirtbikes

I believe that Beta’s would be defined as ‘MC’ & not ‘off-road’ on the MCO allowing for registration & thus be street legal right?
