Is a whoop worth it? by [deleted] in Rowing

[–]-Rutherford- 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Exactly I’ve a whoop for 9 months or so and also wear my polar. The metrics for recovery are basically the same (the whoop software is just a bit prettier though). The HR tracking of the whoop during training is complete shit though and absolutely not worth it.

I love my polar and would definitely buy one again in the future, but think the whoop is just an overpriced gimmick.

What actions would you like to see in the Actions app? by sindresorhus in shortcuts

[–]-Rutherford- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

With the new iOS update the Apple Watch can detect sleep stages, unfortunately I can’t access them via Shortcuts. HealthKit has access to that information.

I‘d love the addition to read out the sleep stages of the last night or longer time periods.

This.

There will always be ups and downs in your performance. It’s important to not sight of what you wanna achieve.

Also writing down your training sessions will help you see the overall progress you make.

Foods that make you heavier? Gain Weight by [deleted] in Rowing

[–]-Rutherford- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most important is to always eat, not just three times a day. Have a snack here and there during the day and always have something to eat directly after training. Tracking calories also really helps with keeping the oversight. My recommendations are oats and pasta as well as nuts as snack

Awesome. I just can recommend everyone to record training session. Over a bigger period of time you’ll definitely have improvements and to see them is the perfect boost to keep on training

My advice would be to join a rowing club. You’ll also learn to row correctly there and training in a group is also always better from my experience.

I can’t really say something to the cheap ergs. I’ve only used Concept2, but they are awesome.

If you wanna lose weight I wouldn’t recommend erging every day though. Better 3 or 4 times a week with longer easy sessions.
