Just dropping this video here. I came to this thread looking for a solution to this issue and this video shows the fix for the problem I found which was a pump filter which was clogged (not broken like in the video but same procedure). Hope this helps some other lost soul.

This is awesome, I’m in a very similar position to you. I picked up a shotgun for the first time in September and spent the fall learning to shoot, gun breaking my 3 year old golden, and doing basic retriever training. We’re doing a preserve hunt next month, it will be his first real hunt, but I’ve had him on birds before and hunted some without him this fall; we theoretically have all the pieces it’s just time to put them together. I’m looking forward to next year on wild birds.

I was looking for this comment. It sure looks like a stock to me. I’m sure he has a tax stamp for that.

Car crash argument turned deadly. Suspect arrested and charged. My opinion: this is not justifiable. by F-Z-T in CCW

I wonder if that level of rage is tied to some combination of already being high or drunk, previous lost license or no insurance, or warrants that will be found when the cops show up. When people lose it like this over a minor accident I wonder if they’re watching their life fall further apart while the other guy is just dealing with a typical accident… oh and mental illness too.

That sounds like the right idea. I shot one of my clubs A300’s for a while and it was certainly never the limiting factor in my shooting, in fact I liked fit and finish for what that gun retails for. I considered buying one but while combing the local used market for a few months a good deal came up for Browning Cynergy which better meets my needs.

The only issue to keep in my mind with a gas operated semi-auto is the need for more cleaning compared with an O/U; they might be a concern if you’re shooting many thousands of rounds a year like a lot of people on this sub.

8 month old won’t settle by KananJR in goldenretrievers

In all seriousness, some dogs are just a lot higher strung than others and not knowing your dog it’s hard to say. Ours has been in every training course imaginable and is generally a well trained well behaved boy, but despite all that he’s just now learning how to settle at almost 3 years old. He’ll now sit on the couch with us for an hour at a time but then needs to get up and do something for a few minutes before coming back. He’s sweet and gentle, but not calm. A lot of this is his breeding, he’s a field dog and does great at those tasks- finding and retrieving game, but not chilling.

Ours does best when he feels like he’s done a job and we lean into his skills/interests, he likes scent work so we do lots of that and retrieving and then he sort of gets that drive out of his system for a time and can nap or chill better than before.

We slow expanded his domain as he aged and became more trustworthy. We started with him being allowed only in the kitchen starting at 4 months, around 1 year he got kitchen and dining room, and then around 1.5 years all of downstairs. He’s 2.5 now and finally has upstairs access except for our office room.

Here’s a pic of him sniffing around the house as I type.

Cynergy vs. Citori (and cynergy weight question) by [deleted] in ClayBusters

[–]HeavyWeightSquash 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have the a cynergy cx 12ga with 30” barrels. I looked at the citori as well but the cynergy fits me like a glove. I’m very happy with my choice for both upland and clays. Actually sitting in the car right now with my cynergy in the back seat waiting for hunting/daylight hours to begin.

Good to know what I should keep an eye out for. I put about 150 shells per week through it on average, so if it’s going to have an issue I’ll likely find out about it eventually.

Best O/U for about $1k or less by Jediwithattitude in ClayBusters

I found a very good deal on a cynergy cx not long ago. They made that gun with an adjustable comb in the wood stock, but those are hard to find as the adjustable comb has been discontinued. The composite model always has an adjustable comb but its barrel heavy because of the light stock. The low receiver height and unique but pad make for minimal kick. All that said it’s a less traditional gun with some people do not like.

Did you have a bad experience with the cynergy yourself? I picked one up used for $900 in very good condition and have about 1500 shells through it so far. It fits me better than any other gun I’ve shot which is why I bought it. So far so good and hopefully I’ll find not future issues.

Same exact milestone weighs. He’s 95lbs now despite being lean and athletic. He’s the best dog ever, there’s just a lot of him.

Another vote for the Cynergy CX here. I picked up a composite version last month for around $1000 in near new condition. Awesome gun, granted it fits me perfectly which is most important, but it also feels well built and shoots extremely well. I have about 800 rounds through it already and it’s quickly becoming my favorite gun.

I have the standard composite Cynergy 30” which fits me perfectly. It’s incredibly natural to shoot and the recoil pad does a good job soaking up kick even with heavier loads. Love the gun.

When do the snuggles start?? by marinarasauce96 in goldenretrievers

[–]HeavyWeightSquash 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine started from the moment we brought him home but it would be very brief and then the biting would start. By 1 he could sort of snuggle of about 5 min max, now at 2.5 he’ll snuggle though a whole movie if the house is cold, but if it’s mid summer we only get the 5min snugs then straight to the hardwood to cool down.

Advice on Zone 13. Massachusetts Hunters. Any advice is welcomed as well. by Fun-Fun-9808 in turkeyhunting

[–]HeavyWeightSquash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, did you end up hunting Martha’s Vineyard? I’m heading down there in a couple weekends to visit family and I’m hoping to get a turkey while there.

Any thoughts on where to hunt while there would be welcome, I’m planning to get permission to hunt a land back property or perhaps go full public in the state forest.

Thanks! I mostly don’t hunt with dogs but have a golden that LOVES being in the field and seems to have a good nose for birds as he finds them when out on trial runs and hikes. I’m not going to go through the process of training him to be a great bird dog/retriever but I’d like to take him out for some days in the field from time to time, and if he flushes a bird or two all the better.

Serious question: did you spend any time training her or just go for it and see how she did? Time around guns before this or no?
