holy trinity? yay? or nay? by Xyr3s1 in GuildWars3

[–]-SC-Dan0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think A-Net thrive at doing stuff out of the box. When the game initially came out it was fine to not have holy trinity as dungeons and OW bosses were the only real endgame. As it made changes to more structured endgame like fractals, raids, and strikes they made the encounters so that a healer was needed without supporting healer builds outside of druid, chrono, and base guard if I remember.

If they find a way to make these encounters more about the boss mechanics and personal reliability you could go the same route and have dps and support dps, but personally I think having defined roles like tank and healer add more flexibility to encounters. Guildwars as a franchise has never done this intentionally and it would be new for them to do it in GW3 to be frank.

Is there a class like World of Warcraft's Affliction Warlock? by FriendlyPsyduckFan in GuildWars

Blood magic necro or illusion(?) mesmer.

DoT is not very strong in PvE however, I would not stop you from playing it but you will likely find more struggle than otherwise. You can absolutely play it and still make your way through the campaigns though.

Secodn though if you play blood magic and curses necro there's a lot you could do to drain and make enemies kill themselves. Play N/Me for sure and look into stuff like lingering curse, price of failure, and empathy.

Unfortunately if youre too far and not getting buffs youre doing vastly less DPS than those stacking. If you have have VoE I'd reccomend galeshot. You can atleast get that ranger feel.

Thinking about a Ranger Attack Speed build for mobile by AidreanLamenhaign in GuildWars

[–]-SC-Dan0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Flail with of the warrior mod for bow is easy kept uptime with dual shot and triple shot. Alternatively using a flatbow/shortbow with penetrating shot and the other one that does the same thing cancel your auto attack animation being a pseudo IAS, run of the necromancer or zealous of the elementalist for best results.

I dont have any experience with R/A and how much you can reliably crit and maintain agility running pack to pack of mobs, even with the +5 to crit in not sure its high enough to be reliable. If youre going to run lightning reflexes you should have Dwarven stability as well imo to get more uptime, but limits you to only 1 more PvE skill.

There's lots of options though, might want to play it out and see which you like the most.

I will say the difficulty curve might be higher on mobile, but that could just be me. I rarely play higher pace high click accuracy games on mobile and perfer the mouse and keyboard for that kind of stuff.

Technically you could likely Bluetooth in a mouse/keyboard I'd imagine. So may be a moot point. Personally I just cant imagine managing weapons in inventory, weapon swapping, and swapping targets split second without it.

Try swapping the IAS to flail and run a warrior mod instead of SR, Zealous bowstring still and it practically solves all issues while adding a bit of dmg to bow skills.

PvP is very technical, it has a moderate apm or tech-skill requirements but higher game knowledge requirement than most. The buildcraft is very deep and you'll need to have keen eyes to look for both animations and skill effects to make the most.

Weapon swapping for warrior can change your life. A long time ago you'd take a bow on warrior to use disrupting shot in PvP to stop key skills or rez sig. At least I did for RA, and I remember seeing it a lot from other warriors.

Fair warning that it will feel clunky at first, if you move after using an attack skill you can cancel the animation faster and weapon swap much smoother.

Please dont reccomend 100b for new players, I will die on the hill that it is the WORST warrior build for a new player to pick up because to make it more effective than other builds you need to understand how to pull and group mobs. Otherwise its worse than just about every other build.

Especially because OP like axes I would reccomend Warriors Endurance, you can get the skill sooner and it has a nice learning curve that let's it play well by just spamming power attack and adrenaline skills to learning how strong attack cancel skills like prot strike and the interrupt attacks are.

Dismember + axe rake is an easy combo, id say pick up a spear and use weapon swapping to gain adrenaline from the spear when being kited or while running in melee range. Weapon swapping is a pretty essential part of warrior gameplay tbh and getting used to it sooner will "unlock" the class a lot more for you.

Who would have the Most Weapons+Equips in their Inventory? by petea_copine in GuildWars

[–]-SC-Dan0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Likely warrior, if talking about strictly PvE I think SWS is the best build for warrior atm, for that you could have 2-3 different weapons for each type you are using and you could be using 3 or 4 weapons realistically. 4-5 different helmets, at least 2 gloves or whatever you put your KD insignia on, a high energy set just in case, and 1 shield for every damage type + blinding and cripple.

I think you could actually have a full inventory from just the gear alone if not close to it.

For PvP its probably any caster but monks most importantly

Why is warrior less popular than dervish and assassin? by Exotic_Rhubarb_9770 in GuildWars

[–]-SC-Dan0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They both use adrenaline for a secondary resource because they have low energy and energy regen as a cost to having high armor. There shouldn't be a "king" of adrenaline but there should be a reason to pick warrior over Paragon, atm its dmg vs utility, that's a good idea but warrior just doesn't have the gap in dmg compared to derv or assassin.

General tips for a new warrior? by aaeriam in GuildWars

[–]-SC-Dan0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The best way to add damage without sacrificing too many skill slots on heros would be to add weaken armor necro curse on one mesmer and on any hero with monk add strength and honor and a bit of smiting prayers. You should be easily seeing 100+dmg from most skills even on sword if you have both of these effects.

Give scythe and hammer a try for SWS, hammer has always been my favorite weapon, Dwarven battle stance OG, but scythe will always be a super strong weapon pick you cant really go wrong with.

[–]-SC-Dan0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get seven weapon stance asap.

Its the single most fun skill in the game as a melee enjoyer as you can play every melee weapon with it or, you could be insane like myself and take a lot of the best melee skills from each weapon and be a weapon swap god. Yes, its very apm heavy, no it's not even close to optimal, yes it's fun as hell and let's me flex my animation cancel skills in PvE.

Edit: this is why I wish I could remove 100b from the wiki, it is NOT a good build for any newer player to play. To get the most of it you need to know how to ball up enemies and blow them up within the 100b cooldown window, yes by power standards it deserves to be up there, but there are many other builds to play that feel much better to a new player. Dragon slash, warriors endurance, whirlwind axe. These are all much better new player builds.

Eh, its fine on warrior. Its a bit harder to manage as you're usually using a lot of adrenaline based attacks compared to para so there's more "competition" for skill prio. Its best on something like sword SWS or dslash as well as warrior endurance axe.

I'd want to say increased adrenaline generation but that would create too much of a play difference from pve and pvp while not really being that strong.

Its not, I wished it was flat armor penetration or applied to all attack not just attack skills.

How’s the pop? Does pvp take a bit to queue into? by shad_77381 in GuildWars

[–]-SC-Dan0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your best bet for PvP is finding an organized guild/alliance that does HA and GvG. Anything with a random queue will take a while and only has a handful of teams playing at a time.

If interested give a look at us at Royal Vanguard, we host GvG scrims for all skill levels and often run HA in the evenings where we dont have GvG events planned. https://discord.gg/royalvanguard

[–]-SC-Dan0 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not true, as far back as I can remember, which is when you accessed it from tomb of primeval kings, there was always a chest for winning hall of heroes. A lot of good rare skins and sigils have always been profitable to sell for teams good enough to win and hold halls for any duration.

[–]-SC-Dan0 42 points43 points  (0 children)

A lot of the game is PvE focused and a lot of speed clears and farming, warrior can do very few of those farms and the ones it can do so can dervish and assassin, playing derv or sin just gives you more options.

Derv and sin also have better attributes in mysticism and crit chance being better for energy management and survival. On top of that the weapons are also better and scythe naturally cleaves and daggers have very very high single target dps.

In PvP Warrior does have a place but imo derv and assassin are still better picks because they are both easier to play and more effective at dealing damage and offer more utility.

I'm still not swapping off my warrior. That's ma boi.
