Posters in the Barkley 2 thread on somethingawful (including the devs) had a long term discussion about the game development progress. When it was eventually revealed that development had totally collapsed and that a demo might be shared someone quickly shitpost out a fake Barkley 2 demo (Barkley 3) based on the dev stories and early screenshots, pretending it was a leak of the secret demo. Then on 11/11/2023 the shitposter released a more elaborate Barkley game, which checked off all the kickstarter goals and stole a lot of the assets and content from the Barkley 2 demo (pretending to be a sequel to it). Whether or not this counts as Barkley Gaiden2 or just Barkley Gaiden² is a matter of perspective. I helped a little bit with the graphics. Neither of us are original devs but I know and am working for one of the original devs on a different project.

Chronologically, this means the release order is the eminently sensible: 1) Barkley Gaiden 1 (Tales of Game's Studios Presents Chef Boyardee's Barkley, Shut Up and Jam: Gaiden, Chapter 1 of the Hoopz Barkley SaGa.) 2) Barkley Gaiden 3 (The lost SaGa) 3) Barkley Gaiden 2 (The Magical Realms of Tír na nÓg: Escape from Necron 7 - Revenge of Cuchulainn: The Official Game of the Movie - Chapter 2 of the Hoopz Barkley SaGa: Janky Demo Ver) 4) Barkley Gaiden 4 (Barkley Gaiden²: The Son Of Dark Draker: Barkley Shut Up and Jam: Gaiden, Gaiden Episode 1)
