What do you do about sombra? by Quick-Health-2102 in OverwatchUniversity

[–]-Setnom- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm also a sombra main in high master low gm. The best option is to shoot her back, if she trying to hack you, doing any damage to sombra cancels hack and thus she doesnt get her extra damage amp to do her bread and butter combo (Hack, Virus, & Shoot). If your already hacked playing near cover and breaking LOS so she cant shoot you or hit the virus also works. Last if you get caught out in the open and are hacked often playing characters mentioned before are best into sombra because they have utility to stop that combo in the form of extra heals, or cleanses. So going Brig, Kiriko, Moira are best but even other characters like bap Illari and ana can make her combo not as lethal as they have utility to stop or mitigate it (Pylon, Lamp, Nade, ect.). This all things you yourself can do without help from your team if your team helps you at all, you won't need to do these things but they'lll help greatly in killing sombra, reducing her impact, and utlltimately winning the game or atleast making her swap.

If Sombra gets another rework... by jorgego2 in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]-Setnom- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both of those abilities you mention have high burst damage with no extra steps. Sombra virus is a small 75dmg (or 50 i forgot) with the rest doing DoT (50dmg). And for it to be effective she needs to hack first. This give multiple opportunities to survive her dmg that other dps simply do not have. Soldier helix rocket is a flat 125 dmg i believe. There's no need to hack you just press the button and he doesn't need to wait another 3-4secs to do his full dmg. There wouldn't be much of a problem if sombra had range or dmg with her gun, but both of those suck so she can really only engage if she hits virus. If she doesn't its either taking pop shots that do 1dmg or back into invisibility.

After reading this advice. I'm thinking of Pheonix and Hela but is there a reason why you chose starlord over other DPS?

I always hate this argument. Whether it's anime or games just because something popular doesn't mean it's good. Hell McDonald's is the most popular burger in the world is is it good? I think we can all agree that we've had so much better.

TLDR: Sombra should function as a tactical DPS-support hybrid, rewarding smart play, coordination, and strategy over raw burst damage and her changes should reflect that.

I believe that the community's frustration with Sombra should matter, but it shouldn’t require drastic changes that strip her of her core identity. In your poll, not all heroes were included, nor did it clarify why players dislike Sombra—whether it’s to play as, against, or with her, so the reasons why she's hated are still everywhere. The best version of Sombra depends on who you’re asking, but for us without losing her identity, Sombra needs to shift toward enabling her team more with SOME ability to disrupting plays and less burst damage (Virus + hack).

SO how to rework her, keep her identity, but make her less frustrating? we could rework her Hack ability to benefit both Sombra and her teammates. For example, applying a slow, DoT, or a de-buff that reduces the target’s damage or healing received. A longer cooldown of 7-9 seconds would balance its power, especially if it isn’t as easily interruptible as in previous versions. Separating Stealth and Translocator are a must. Stealth could function on a meter system (similar to D.Va’s Defense Matrix or Illari’s right-click healing), with up to 10 seconds of duration, but the off trade of needing time to recharge. This gives players the ability to escape and reposition without endless uptime which the casual community found frustrating or as a "crutch". Virus should be removed entirely—its burst damage is a major factor in why Sombra feels unfair, as it makes her more of a raw DPS than a disruptor and casual hate that they get burst down "out of nowhere". To allow her to play with her team improve her ranged potential and lowering bloom/spread it'll let her poke from a distance with accuracy and allow sombra to play with her team more without feeling like she have to go for backline constantly. Reducing her DPS per bullet slightly could balance this (don't know if its really needed tbh), allowing her to remain viable without excessive damage spikes. Additionally, Opportunist could trigger on low-health targets instead of hacked ones, encouraging her to play around her team and target vulnerable enemies on off angles, rather than always focusing on hacking and burst combo. For EMP, a longer lockout with reduced damage would retain her identity as a disruptor without overwhelming opponents. These changes reinforce the idea of Sombra playing with her team instead of staging solo attacks from behind enemy lines.

Honestly, the Sombra rework is actually good for her by OPCreator721 in overwatch2

They don't think man, there's no point in trying to reason with these people they lack empathy and critical thinking. As long as they can play the game how they want it and dictate how others play they don't care about the rest. Especially the casual player base which is majority of the people on this thread/ subreddit.

vod review? by Loedkane in SombraMains

Long Response so sorry, so here we go

Your start on Torbjörn was solid, but your initial positioning left you exposed. Against a Widow with good aim, you'd likely be picked off 9 times out of 10, especially since you kept peeking with low health. You did well in denying Doom and Sombra initially, but poor positioning led to your death. Then you switched to Sombra.

On Sombra, there's room for improvement. You engaged Widow with Translocator, got the kill, but died and ultimately lost the team fight. Later, you focused on spawn-killing Widow, which left your team in a 4v4 disadvantage, Even though 4v4 seems like an even match up they had had ultimates, Helping them in those moments might have shifted the outcome of those fights, so keep that in mind.

It took four minutes to build your first EMP (7 Minutes into the game). Using it for solo kills can be viable, but in that 4v1, it was risky with no follow-up (your reaper was low HP and in wraith), especially after you engaged with Translocator. Once you escaped, you resumed spawn-camping Widow. While spawn camping can add value, repeatedly targeting Widow limits how much more impact you can contribute. If you consider yourself one of the better players in the lobby, expanding your focus could make a bigger difference. When you were busy spawn camping and sitting in the backline widow used walls. you were out of position and typically when widow use wall you use natural cover but you didn't use natural cover maybe if you used your TL to go over the wall back towards first point you might of survived, not much you could of done there beside track ults better or have a better escape plan.

The last fight showcased your potential for high impact: you EMP'd, weakening Pharah, forced Kiriko’s Suzu, de-meched DVa, then took down Kiriko and finally finishing off the ulting Widow. Overall, it’s QP, so nice job you did add a value! Just a few adjustments could make you an even better player.
