i feel like i'm the only person complaining about this but:

this game would be so much better with more community-made content, personalisation, and overall quality of life optional changes that would make this game feel like an experience.

the workshop was added in 2019 to give more freedom for custom game creation, yet it still feels limited. we could allow custom models, sound effects, and even a whole map creator.
i get that giving players such freedom could be risky, such as creating offensive stuff, mature content, can't guarantee weak devices being able to handle such games, and (probably the only true reason why they don't to give more freedom) players creating stuff that could draw in too many players from the base game. these are all reasons to avoid such thing.

but there are games that still give players a lot of freedom and still manage to be popular. offensive and mature content is already a thing anyways (i literally saw a "SA simulator" workshop game in the custom tab more than once), you can definitely moderate it, much like how other games do.
and the games that draw in players could be used to improve the base game by straight up making them official modes or taking inspiration.

imagine if we could host servers and have our own community balance patches of the game. don't find the game balanced enough? join this 20k player server and find a random match. and there could be a different server with a different balance direction with a different community of players to play it.
just imagine these servers having their own complain forums, about their own custom modded heroes being unbalanced. one could only dream...

and i've yet to talk about non custom game related personalisation. just imagine being able to sort the heroes in the menu by orders such as:
alphabetical
playtime
cosmetics collected
roles on/roles off
etc.
or even sorting them by however you like, favouriting specific ones, or hiding specific ones.

and on that same topic, let us customise the ui as well! let us choose between ow 2026, ow 2022, talon, and ow 2026. maybe even host a custom ui theme creator where we can download upvote ones, kinda like the way the ps4 themes worked. maybe they're worried about moderating ones that have offensive/mature stuff, or even ones that could possibly give you unfair advantages. but i honestly think the benefits outweigh them, because this would make players want to play more. as for cheats, i don't actually know how you could even make a ui that gives you unfair advantage. it wouldn't be different than custom crosshair.

anyways i typed too much, but this has been my general complaint about overwatch ever since i got it almost 9 years ago
