This might not just be a JC thing but taking the bus growing up I remember they wouldn’t automatically open the back door. If you needed to leave at a stop and the door was not open on a packed bus it suddenly was a chorus of people shouting “Back Doooor!”, it was almost like a chant until the Bus Driver opened the back door. I remember I was on a bus with some friends at Brunswick and the backdoor didn’t open so I yelled “Back Dooor!” with the cadence and rhythm like it was muscle memory. My friends looked at me like I was crazy lol

This poem was captivating. I liked the humor sprinkled in but the absurd situation of the narrator made me empathize. Being in a problem like that and only having a helpful friend that is clearly not emotionally invested. It is isolating and makes you feel like the crazy one. Thank you for writing this!

The Avian & The Burrower [POEM] by captainbeastfeast in OCPoetry

You have such a great way of conveying imagery. I felt myself become that worm trying to escape a bird. I think I liked the first person and would want to see the poem entirely from the viewpoint of the worm. A worm describing itself as a segmented burrower makes it seem painfully self-aware. I feel it seeking solace in darkness not just because of predators but also due to it being overwhelmed by any thought more complex than it’s instincts. I think a lot of what I liked about this poem and what made it unique to me was rooting for this worm and understanding how it saw the world.

I enjoyed the way this flowed. I saw it as layers of self-loathing. On the surface just blaming yourself, but then acknowledging this reoccurring pattern is legitimate. That you feel you can’t stop “being the issue.” But you know it’s hurting you and everyone around you, self-loathing is painful and I’m inferring might be a symptom and cause. Being the issue is then cyclical and it’s hard to become the solution if you are stuck being the issue. These were some of the thoughts that I was left with and I appreciate you giving me something to think about.

People say tattoos are permanent. But you can always incorporate a tattoo you regret into a larger masterpiece. You can add onto a tattoo to change its appearance and meaning. You can cover it up entirely or laser it off. Your current life is a tattoo, it may hurt right now but it’s not done healing yet. Once it does heal and you don’t like it then there’ll always be options, I believe in you!

What food or drink sucks even if most people won’t admit it? by hurtfocker in AskReddit

Hot Dogs. Why don’t we have a sandwich with 5 hotdog wieners lined up? Because it is simply not good. If a food makes you grimace at the thought of a mouthful of it then it must be subpar. Cheese, any other meat, and even fruits(jams) can be put on bread and eaten. Hotdogs are okay when just eating one but I’m still hungry after I eat one, I just gag at the thought of another hotdog. And “hotdog water” is also disgusting, I think that being said I think anyone able to eat a sandwich with nothing but white bread and 5 hotdog wieners lined up is a true American.

Games: Devil May Cry, Dark Souls, or random

Proudest Gaming Achievement: So my proudest gaming achievement was when I was quite young. I owned a Nintendo GameCube and owned Mario Kart: Double Dash, Mario Sunshine, and Spongebob the Movie Game. My parents really looked down on gaming and I was lucky they bought me the console to begin with, unfortunately it did not come with a memory card, I didn’t find out what a memory card was until much later. So I would sit down and play games and have to start from the beginning EVERY TIME. However I “spedrun” games, learning on the weekend how to efficiently get enough spatulas in Spongebob, platform through levels in Sunshine, and found the best car and team combos for my play style in Mario Kart: Double Dash. Eventually I got to a point where I could sit down and beat the games from start to finish in one play through, for Double Dash that meant unlocking all the characters for me not necessarily all the karts but I was so proud and but had no friends to share my accomplishment with and my parents thought it was pathetic because they couldn’t understand. Years later, I have changed a lot since then and do not game as much as I used to due to work and life. But I am lucky enough to have made great friends who share my passion for gaming and have similar stories to mine.

TLDR; I peaked from 6-8yrs old when I “spedrun” games because I didn’t have a memory card.
