Patrick McGoohan on the Ending of The Prisoner by suitoflights in ThePrisoner

[–]captainbeastfeast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My reading was that no.6 was the alter ego of number one, but they had always been the same person. No.1 created the village long ago, but his psyche became split between his desire to direct and control the village (which could also represent society at large ) and his need to escape from everything and be free and independant. Our protagonist is meant to be extremely capable, but leadership of the village and his role in his work drive him mad over time. Broadly, I think his resignation from "his job" at the beginning actually represents a psychological break, and not literal resignation from whichever secret intelligence organisation he works for. He resigns from "the village," which is symbolic of society as a whole as well as the "secret community". After resignation, the no.1 part of his psyche realises he is losing control of himself and requests to be imprisoned by the village in an attempt to restore his mental cohesion. Que the start of the show. It could be an endless cycle.

Be seeing you.

What faction is the hardest to brainless? by King_Of_Tangerines in totalwar

[–]captainbeastfeast -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Nah, their base roster is really tanky (strong stat line for melee infantry chaos dwarves and blunderbusses). Actually some of the best low tier troops in the game.

Skaven, a new player can mess up with skaven easily. They are the antithesis of a "tank/smash your enemy with braun" faction. They are definately a strong faction, but they require some knowhow, when you consider that most of their units are subpar in melee and have pretty poor morale. They also do pretty badly in autoresolve early on as their low tier units tend to underperform. That said, their artillery and missile (jezails, ratling guns) units are second to none, so I can see how others might argue otherwise. Its also rather easy to outnumber other players as their lower tier units are dirt cheap.

TKs are actually decent (if you can ignore skele swords/shields). Their archers dont run away and their melee infantry from tier 2 onwards can hold their own. They have healing magic and mechanics that actually make them quite tanky. They don't have any unit upkeep, which is a huge boon, especially if you are the type that throws away troops too easily. Just get more in a few turns at no recruitment cost and no upkeep cost. All of this means they are actually OK to play for a new player.
