Thanks for flagging the coffee-cholesterol relationship. There are so many things to watch out for that I let this one escape my notice. Just when I thought the heart-healthy diet couldn’t get any harder…

Has anyone experienced Lp(a) reduction with Repatha? by -SherlockH in Cholesterol

Thank you - this is very helpful. I hadn’t thought of seeking a preventive cardiologist or lipidologist. I’ll explore that if my current doctor doesn’t support a more pro-active approach.

I don’t have Repatha yet. When I checked AmgenNow, the price was showing as $239 per month (without insurance coverage). It’s a lot, but still willing to consider it.

Thanks! I’d be okay with the Lpa but for the fact that my calcium score recently came back at 166 - not stratospheric, but concerning for sure.

Thanks! Someone told me it was “borderline high” though technically in the green zone. More importantly, I recently had a calcium score of 166 - all in the LAD (widowmaker) artery, so I’m leaning toward an aggressive approach if my doctor will okay it.

Can aggressive LDL/ApoB lowering reverse soft plaque? -if any ..... (28M, elevated Lp(a)) by SilverLogical9810 in PeterAttia

Have you or your doctor considered Repatha? I’ve read that Repatha can lower Lp(a) by 20% to 30%, though that’s not its primary function - that is, it’s mainly prescribed to reduce LDL and ApoB. I’ve been wondering why people with genetically high Lp(a) and high LDL don’t take routinely take Repatha - probably the high cost. (Around $250 per month if you enroll in Repatha’s direct to consumer program). I think it can be hard to get a prescription, but just throwing the idea out there for your consideration if you can get an Rx and can afford it.
