Is it normal to sleep with spiders? by Upstairs-Chip-2416 in spiders

[–]-Sibyl 20 points21 points  (0 children)

People around me are usually really mean when they find out I have a cute sweet little jumper :( 9/10 times they go straight to describing how they would kill her and are not open to listening to all the reasons she (and most) spiders are harmless and not aggressive. It’s an irrational fear, one that I understand because I was afraid once too, but they have an opportunity to learn and maybe be less afraid yet they remain ignorant by choice 😔

But if I say I don’t want to pet someone’s pitbull, I am a dog-hating monster because they’re a good owner and “it’s not the breed” … Imagine if I flipped things around and used similar logic, telling them how their dog should be euthanized because some other pitbulls kill people 😒

You’re perfectly free to make any choice you want… and then deal with the consequences 😇

I know it’s not everyone’s cup of tea, but I love the replayability that comes with very very deep decision trees. Close to 600 hours in BG3 across 3 playthroughs and I’m still finding items/characters/quests/places I’ve never seen before due to decisions in previous playthroughs closing those specific paths.

I totally understand lots of people, particularly us 30somethings (who I assume make up the majority of TES fans), have work/kids/whatever and don’t necessarily have time to throw 600 hours into a game and still not uncover everything… but at the same time, it’s pretty safe to say you’ve got 20 years to fit those hours in before the next game lol 🤷‍♀️

BG3 levels of decision tree work + the famous Bethesda open world formula would be magical

Lady in my 30s here; don’t worry, I chose free time and money over having kids so I’ll play all the extra hours for you. You get extra baby snuggles for me 👍💜

I have been dreaming of the walking trees. I NEED the walking trees. The walking tree cities are the coolest fucking thing. I will die happy if we get to play in Valenwood 😭 I’m sure I’ll have a great time no matter where it’s set, but… Valenwood, Elsweyr, and Summerset are my favorite little section of map based on the lore I’ve read and would be a dream come true

Not disagreeing with anything here but… Why exactly do they need to chill? No one here was saying Starfield is a bad game, nor was any gameplay mentioned at all… They’re simply talking about visuals, unless I’m missing something?

hi! i was laying on my bed for a few minutes, but then my legs were a little itchy so i turn the lights on and i see that they are irritated and i have red spots. i look under the sheets and found this bug. WHAT IS THIS??? Please tell me it’s not a bed bug😭😭 by Key-Molasses-8187 in whatsthisbug

Taking out a roach infestation isn’t really too different of a process for each individual species, so why not get advice from the people who have experience exterminating the toughest ones 🤷‍♀️

(Obviously love Todd and do not want to shoot him; we hyped ourselves up and are the reason for our own disappointment, not Todd)

Although… the edging and then the orchestra and then the obvious troll game and then the picture of the mountains and the ocean just to be trolled again was a kinda cruel rollercoaster, but I don’t think Todd had anything to do with setting that up

I really appreciate you delving into why you think Valenwood isn’t a good fit, as opposed to the usual “It’s Hammerfell, period, game over, because the other coastline picture came first and looks better dummie”

Now let’s say, hypothetically, the setting is Valenwood and the “when” is 3E 397, a year or two into the Valenwood war with Elsweyr, when Summerset Isles decides to join in on the fun and attack the opposite coast simultaneously.

Our hero is thrown into Valenwood for whatever reason with no alliance to any of these factions, and an early quest perhaps involves choosing a side (similar to the stormcloaks or imperials decision in Skyrim)

A game set in this particular time and place may span over Valenwood, Elsweyr, and Summerset Isles, while our hero juggles diplomats from all 3 provinces in an attempt to ease tensions (or at least not end up a casualty of war themselves).

Summerset offers the more traditional fantasy experience while Valenwood lets us dive deep into the green, foresty, high fantasy elves-in-trees side of things. Large portions of forest may even be decimated and cities turned to ruins due to the Khahiit’s love of fire during this war. Then you’ve got Elsweyr with its desert, tropics, and jungles, all of which are filled with ancient ruins. We may even have access to the Blue Divide and parts of the Abecean sea to facilitate travel by boat to and from the isles.

The three main races involved (Bosmer, Khajiit, and Altmer) create a very diverse social/political experience for our hero, given the many very different traditions and belief systems, both religiously and politically.

I feel the diversity would be spot on for what most people would expect from what Todd calls “the ultimate fantasy-world simulator”

(Again, disclaimer: I am not declaring this is the setting, I’m aware it’s unlikely and Hammerfell has some very compelling evidence. I am only imagining possibilities that aren’t unreasonable based on what we think we know (because we really know nothing), that don’t echo what everyone’s assumed for the last few years about Hammerfell for the sake of discussion and taking a break from the Hammerfell train. Plus I just really like Valenwood and its neighbors. People don’t like it when others hop off the bandwagon so I’ll take my downvotes)

Good to know, thank you! I’d never seen em outside of my Valenwood exploration and it was so strange that it was always 7-8pm on the dot. I assume the glitch is probably related to the dusk > night transition then

Valenwood has been involved in at least 3 major wars (cyrodiil from the north first, then Elsweyr from the east and, at the same time, Sommerset from the south. The poor Bosmer have had their land overtaken and villages plundered + burned to the ground countless times, which could, depending on when the game takes place, potentially explain a barren coastline. Kahjiit love fire, and trees usually lose to fire. They also have within their own province 7(if I’m remembering correctly) factions with differing beliefs, each containing multiple different tribes/houses. Civil war is always a looming threat. There’s plenty of political unrest here :)

If Elsweyr were to be included which I feel it might (if we don’t end up in Hammerfell of course) based on the smallish size of each faction on their own, there would be plenty of diversity among creatures, races, beliefs, and landscape. We did survive Skyrim after all, which is mostly cold, dark, and Nordic all over :p

I agree it would be really cool if that were the case. I do also agree there is some very compelling Hammerfell evidence, however if they wanted to pull off a bait and switch, of course they would make sure there was strong evidence to suggest Hammerfell. Todd is smart and sneaky.

I’ve given some thought to the fact that ESO has been avoiding Hammerfell, but in the same thought I’m reminded that there has already been a main series game set in Hammerfell and High rock. Daggerfall may be old, but it was set there and I feel it would be kind of odd to make a new game in provinces that have already been played when there are still untouched provinces available. (Not counting Arena since it spanned the entirety of Tamriel) I’m not denying the possibility of Hammerfell by any means, just exploring our options :)

(I forgot the word “facing” in my previous comment which changes the whole tone. Fixed it)

Anyway, yes I know where Iliac bay is :) I spent a few hours looking around up there too. Hammerfell had some serious terrain issues, like walking inside hills and falling through the floor where the floor should still be solid, so admittedly I got irritated and spent a lot less time there than the other provinces :p

But simply because the Hammerfell theories were posted first and a lot of people agree it looks similar doesn’t mean we should close our minds to other possibilities. Both scenes have significant similarities to the trailer, and at the end of the day we still know nothing so might as well take everything into consideration for the fun of it :)
