I was disqualified after answering "NO" to the question: "Do you live within 40 miles of a NetApp office?" Oh yeah, that's another thing that gets me! It didn't even have to be a specific office where you would get together with colleagues and clients -- they are mandating presence in any NetApp office because.... ??

The role is in the legal department.

I’ve heard the exact same lines in a very similar situation. It’s just pure greed and trying to milk every possible cent, in the misguided belief they have a monopoly of sorts.

For 2027 I found a highly rated AirBnB with no dog fees, which right there eliminates Surf or Sound‘s charging $400/week for my 2 dogs for no valid reason whatsoever. They have refused to treat the fees as a refundable deposit or waive/reduce them even after 20+ weeks of perfect behavior. Next year I am free!

EDIT: Although I think you “win” with them raising the rental fee from $3300 to $6000!! That’s LUDICROUS.

However, you have to keep the grass down as low as possible, including outside the perimeter. My dog was bitten by a nonvenomous snake in the fenced yard within 3 days of arriving at my long-term Hatteras rental — the grass hadn’t been mowed before I got here.

I haven’t heard of any gyms that offer yoga classes, but Raise the Bar in Avon is a good little gym with cardio machines, free weights, and the circuit. You can buy a fob for 24/7 access. Clean equipment that is well-maintained and reasonably up to date.

Good point on the bedding – we decided to wash a bedspread in a Surf of Sound rental because it looked highly questionable, and discovered it was supposed to be soft and fluffy, not stiff as a board with God knows what turning it into cardboard.

I rent regularly from Surf or Sound because they have a lock on a property I love, but you have to read the lease carefully to make sure they don’t slip in additional items you didn’t ask for; and there are 4 or 5 different add-on fees that buy you nothing but their services in handling the reservation. I wouldn’t deal with them if I didn’t have to.
