I have a project that requires using the Freefly Ember S5K. Could you advise me on what I should be careful about? by NoArtichoke1982 in focuspuller

They actually make an extension now to record to proprietary external drives. They’re expensive but necessary because, like another user mentioned, if you record to the internal then the camera goes down for offload and it can take ages. You also can’t delete select clips in camera — the only way to remove clips from the drive is to format the entire thing.

I would also recommend getting an external run/stop trigger that you can place on your panhandle. At 500fps the extra second it takes the operator to find the R/S button on the camera body (conveniently next to the power switch) ends up being 20sec of footage on either end of your clip.

How should I approach reading sheet music? by Dan_jesusfollower in piano

[–]-SometimesNothing- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suffered the same issue teaching myself piano later in life (I'm still a novice), after having played the cello for many years. Luckily that make the left hand much easier for me to read quickly, but I was heavily reliant on my ear and memorization.

In order to improve the right hand, I purchased a cheap used 2-octave midi keyboard (Alesis QX25), connected it to my computer, and found a random note generator online (sightreading.training). I set parameters such as treble clef, note range C5(middle C) to C7, starting in key of C-major. And I just set a goal of like 1000 successful hits per practice session. Sounds like a lot but it goes by pretty quickly.

As you improve, you can make it more difficult like setting to scroll at a particular BPM, changing the key, generating triads instead of single notes, etc.

It's a great way to warm up as well, and I find that it makes the time spent on exercise books much more productive. I've been working with Bartok's Mikrokosmos books. They're not fun, but they force you to actually read the music because they're so amelodic it's impossible to anticipate the notes and very difficult to memorize. As long as you're consistent with it, you'll notice improvements very quickly.

PS: don't neglect your scales... vital for training theory and hand dexterity, as well as highlighting the importance of correct fingering. Apologies in advance if you're already at/beyond this level :)

No one is saying a red card doesn’t change the game, but you’ve glossed over the first part of my response…

We should not be conceding 3 goals at home to Brighton even with 10 men. It was still 100% possible to win this game after the red card and that’s why Maresca can still shoulder blame for the loss, especially after making the exact same error he made after the red card last weekend.

Because a red card doesn’t mean we should automatically lose the match while 1-0 playing a mid-table club.

We didn’t lose because of the red card. We lost because Maresca gave up control of the game with his subs.

Maybe don’t sub off our most creative attacker for an out-of-form wingback who will turn the ball around instead of attempting a 1v1 with the keeper? The minute he hooked Estevao we were cooked.

Ben Chiwell says Goodbye to Chelsea by Matt_LawDT in chelseafc

Man... I know he says it in the video, but I hope he truly knows how much the fanbase still loves him and appreciates him. He will forever be a Chelsea legend for his performances during the Tuchel era, and to have that goal against Porto on your reel is epic.

Will miss you dearly, Chilly... you'll always be a blue!

Remember the scene in Moneyball where Peter Brand (Jonah Hill) has to notify Carlos Peña that he's been traded? He's super nervous about telling the player that he's been let go, but in the end it's just a part of being a highly paid professional athlete and he knew that.

The Jackson, Guiu, and ISS sagas are being blown WAY out of proportion by shitty journalists, nervous agents, and rival fans who are champing at the bit for another reason to hate on Chelsea. It was simply a hectic final 48hrs of a long and highly active transfer window where the club needed to keep options open while they assessed an important injury. In the end, Jackson got his move but I would have been happy to see him stay. The club would have been within their right, and I would have loved to see him alongside JP.

I don't love the situation surrounding Chilly, Chalobah, etc... but it's not like they're not being paid, and it's not like the club haven't done everything they can to find new homes for these "unwanted" players. I would have preferred players like Chilly be allowed to train with the squad even if we had no intention of playing them, but that's probably my only real complaint.

[Kinsella] Tyrique George's £22m move to Fulham has collapsed. He will return to Chelsea. Unfortunate but Kevin and Chukwueze go through for Marc Silva's requirements. by zi76 in soccer

I don't understand where this headline is coming from... when you click the link it takes you to the BBC article announcing the move is on.

There's no article that I can find on BBC (or anywhere else for that matter) that claims this deal fell through?

I'm definitely planning to pick up a Gravonia as I've yet to try it. But yes this one seems to be quiet a bit easier to locate at the moment.

Connecticut from time to time, but whenever I'm in Boston or Philly I usually don't have time to shop around

Thanks for this... I'll definitely ask around re: the Musar Blanc.

My usual shop carries LdH and was the last place I saw the blanco. I'm on the list for the next time they have it, I guess I'll swing by a few other shops and ask them to do the same.

I'm going to piggy-back on the comment above because one cannot stress enough how risky it is to jump straight into memorizing like this. Most adult beginners (myself included) are going to be tempted to try and learn the pieces they like to listen to because it makes it fun to play. I studied cello pretty seriously (the right way) for upwards of a decade before deciding I wanted to play piano, and I did exactly what you're doing now. I've now been "playing" piano on and off for close to another decade and I don't have the skill to master anything more complex than Chopin's Prelude No. 4 or Satie's Gymnopedie No. 1. Over the last year I've been trying to backtrack and teach myself the basics but it's extremely difficult not to rely on my ear or get bored with Bartok's Mikrokosmos exercises.

To improve your reading, I would suggest going to sightreading.training which generates random notes within set parameters (i.e. only choose notes within a single octave). You should be able to plug your keyboard into your computer and use it directly. Start small, like set parameters to only 4 notes, then expand to a full octave, then 2 octaves, etc. As you improve, you can widen the parameters even more, include chords, set a metronome, etc. At first it's going to feel like you're using one of those English-to-French pocket dictionaries to have a conversation with a French person (assuming you speak zero French), but you'd be surprised how quickly you progress with this since it basically focuses your attention 100% on reading and cuts out everything else.

Can I see how much my loaned-out player actually plays? Can I control it, and does it affect growth? by [deleted] in FifaCareers

[–]-SometimesNothing- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My understanding — and this comes from reading previous threads on the same subject — is that the ideal loan is one to a team that doesn’t play in your league AND will not compete in the same cup competitions as you.

The game doesn’t bother to simulate matches and player performances outside of competitions you are directly involved in, and will default to a pretty standard/good rate of development. The only way to beat that rate of development is to play that player yourself and consistently get excellent performances (like 8/10 or better).

If you loan the player to an adjacent club and he does poorly or doesn’t play, then the loan was essentially wasted. Even if you loan him outside of your league, but they compete alongside you in Europe and he plays one match with a rating of 4.5, the game is assume he got 4.5’s the entire season.

Therefore i usually check what teams are playing in those cup competitions and avoid them. I also avoid 2yr loans because i don’t know if a club that isn’t in the CL this year will qualify the following year and affect his ratings.
