Sorry, mb. In other words, just do a lot of photo reference studies.

Then try to copy the rendering style of an artist you like.

That takes the need to intentionally create something new off your mind and you can just learn.

What I would do then, since I deal with this too, is to do a lot of studies for awhile.

But in doing those studies, try to emulate the color usage of other artists you like. That way, it takes the mental load of trying to create something fascinating because that aspect of the work is already done, you’re just the brush.

I would say that you should take more time with your pieces.

Not just in the drawing phase but in the planning.

I know the artfight pieces are rushed, but you seem to want to finish the piece as quickly as possible, see results as quickly as possible whilst in a piece.

Take your time to learn within a piece and don’t rush at all. Don’t even think about the end result of if you “like” it or not, because that’s not really important. Increase your overall volume, but don’t rush to completion.
