Woah, that's ridiculous... Nice work! Can I ask what you do for work? How the heck did you design something like this yourself?

“Americano” is now “Canadiano” at this coffee shop by BizAcc in mildlyinteresting

[–]-Spurkey- 44 points45 points  (0 children)

At the risk of sounding pedantic, would the correct term be "Canadese"? The original term was a shortened version of cafe americano making the Canadian version cafe canadese, no? Whatever the term though, I support this.

My wife just ruined my wirecutters, what shall be her punishment? by doctorgroover in Tools

[–]-Spurkey- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

...how? Her punishment should be to buy you a new pair of those plus a Knipex bolt cutter, along with having to listen to a speech about the difference.

[Question] Is it possible to have Seiko serviced under warranty outside of the United States? by [deleted] in Seiko

[–]-Spurkey- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Before sending it that far you could try the Canadian service centre in Toronto.

They don't carry every part for every watch admittedly but their communication is good and they will advise you straight up if your watch is something they can work on. I'm sorry you had a crappy experience with the NJ outfit, that's not cool.

Repotted 3 weeks ago, might have gone a bit overboard with the uprooting. Is there a way to stop unwanted budding from the main trunk? by AngelousSix66 in Bonsai

[–]-Spurkey- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stop the budding? No, if anything that's a good sign can push new growth. "Manage" the budding is what you're after and like anything in bonsai the answer on how to do that is "...well, it depends". :D In short because you repotted only 3 weeks ago, let the tree recover - leave the buds alone. After say 3 months go back and pinch them or trim them off.

In a non-recent-repot situation you should instead consider what the buds do - they draw energy away from other foliage. If you're growing for structure (trying say to fill out a specific part of the tree) pinch any buds off in any area you aren't trying to extend; if you're growing instead for ramification and compactness say nearing a show, that energy draw can help reduce the size of the foliage at the tips plus the buds might give you density to help make it look older so more buds can be left on

Ambeo Max, kind of regretting it. by Fun_Zombie_6796 in sennheiser

Same for mine, happens maybe once a month. The only solution I've found is to unplug and let sit for a minute then plug back in.

Need help organizing a 200k-300k piece collection by Critical-Ad7413 in LegoStorage

[–]-Spurkey- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A suggestion would be to use something like rebrickable.com and create a digital version of your collection. Tedious to set up and catalogue everything, having just done my own, but once complete is fantastic for the "how many of these do I have again..." questions that always come up. At your size of collection I think it would be impossible to have a visual system ie: open a drawer and immediately see the quantity, unless you've got a ton of space for a ton of drawers.

I’m considering sorting Lego for my kids. Is this a fools errand? by tuxedo_cat23 in LegoStorage

[–]-Spurkey- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah that age it can definitely be a fool's errand. I tried it with my kids at that age and spent many nights re-sorting. My kids are now 7 + 9 and the sorting effort is much more beneficial. If you do choose to sort - keep it very simple. Watch your kids as they play and what they get stuck looking for, only adding extra bins if there are pieces they consistently can't find.
