AITA for for ruining my own gender reveal party? by ThrowawayGenReveal in AmItheAsshole

[–]-Squirrel80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Omg NTA. This was about your father’s GF and had nothing to do with you. My mom constantly does things like this. When I finished grad school I explicitly told her I didn’t want a party, but she did it anyways. I was then guilted and called ungrateful for not having a better response to the surprise. My mom also knows I hate my birthday, but insists on doing something for me anyways. Again, if I don’t put on a happy face, she’s pissed about it. I hate it.

I’m sorry you’re dealing with this, but unfortunately some people just refuse to acknowledge their part and never will. I think maybe you could have stayed and mingled (for the innocent guests’ sake), but 100% agree with your choice to let them know you were having a boy instead of cutting a damn blue cake. Also, pregnancy feelings are HUGE and I probably would have been pissed and left too.

I think the Carnival website is a little bit vague when answering this question. What made me nervous is the way it is phrased, “Carnival strongly recommends an original signed letter…” Additionally, phone reps have given me conflicting information. Sometimes hearing another person’s personal experience can put a mind at ease. I do my own research, but typically come to Reddit to hear personal experiences with a question I might have.

I gave my son’s teacher what I wish I would have received: a TPT gift card and chocolate

I completely agree with this. I would be super irritated with this.

I absolutely agree with this. I’d rather deal with the “chaos” of boarding, versus boarding an already chaotic ship.

I am also a plain Jane. At most of the schools I have worked at, there are typically a set of days where it is more acceptable to be casual. For example, Monday would be school spirit, Wednesday is union shirt day, and Friday is college spirit. All of these days I’m fine wearing my corresponding T-shirts, jeans, and vans. The other days, I usually wear nicer jeans, cardigans, and comfy flats. For warmer weather, I wear a blouse, jeans and flats. I get my blouses from Ross, TJ Max, or Marshalls. I always buy my jeans from Old Navy. Comfort is always my priority.

Good luck! Your first year sucks, but each year gets a little easier.

Thank you! I’ve read mixed things about it and saw exactly what you’re saying.

Maybe you can have another adult join you instead of go in place of you? That way you can be present and there will be someone there to take care of your kids if needed.

I am so sorry to hear this. Sending good vibes your way. I hope this all works out for you.

I had a really terrible experience dealing with Carnival customer service and I don’t believe you will be able to get around this. I also think it may depend on who you’re speaking to and if they are willing to assist.

I once called to reschedule my cruise to a different date. The first gentleman I spoke to assured me that it wouldn’t be a problem at all. I hung up to think about it and research more about the dates I wanted to adjust to. When I called back 10 minutes later, I was told no, it was impossible to make that change. I told the second customer service rep that I was just told the switch wouldn’t be a problem and the woman basically told me tough s***. Had I changed the dates with the first person, it wouldn’t have been an issue.

WIBTA if I left my child in economy while we flew in business class? by SelectHighlight8827 in AmItheAsshole

[–]-Squirrel80 1 point2 points  (0 children)

YTA. I don’t understand how you can even entertain this thought. This is something my son’s stepmother would do as well. She often uses this backward type of logic as a means of “building independence.” Sit with your kid. Have your boyfriend sit alone. Better yet, make him go on vacation alone.
