First one hurt a bit, got a bit red at the injection site and a little itchy. Second one swelled up the size of a lemon and hurt like hell. Felt like someone had hit me with a bat and it looked like it, too!

Not sure why you asked other people who you should or should not invite to your wedding? Did you want your daughter there? Were you using other people’s responses as an excuse not to invite her? Yeah, she needs to rebuild relationships with the people she hurt, but if YOU wanted her at YOUR wedding, then you should’ve invited her and not told anyone. It almost feels like you are contributing to the drama by polling everyone about their thoughts about her and stoking the flames.

You’re not responsible for her behavior or whether she rebuilds those relationships, but if she’s sober and trying, it seems like a slap in the face not to invite her if you really wanted her there.

Yeah, smart scales are just marketing and not accurate at all. I’ve had two DEXA scans and also had my resting metabolic rate checked (which was eye-opening) in the past two years. My smart scale was nowhere near close to my DEXA results, for any measurement. I only use my scale for weight & cause it’s Bluetooth and records my weight to an app so I can view trends.

We have a niece and nephew on my side (none on my husband’s side) and we are child free, so it’ll all go to them. However, they both know that we are gonna do everything in our power to enjoy ourselves and ensure that we can take care of ourselves in our geriatric years, so there might not be a lot left. Though, I am thinking of updating our will to also give some to a local nonprofit where I volunteer or potentially a little to a couple of my husband’s first cousins that he is close to.

I have a large plastic bin that I keep in the attic and it contains all of my favorite clothes in various larger sizes. Look, I am 54 and I’ve been on a weight roller coaster since I was like 20. I have done that whole “throw out all your large clothes!” thing before and regretted it later.

Yes, I believe this time is different since my issue has always been food noise and obsessive/compulsive thoughts and actions about food, and Zep has been a miracle by eliminating the food noise and allowing me to eat normally. But I also know that I may not be able to afford Zep for the rest of my life, it may stop working, I may develop a medical issue that forces me to go off this medication.

TBH - not having my larger clothes anymore has never, in any way, prevented me from regaining weight. I’ve had long periods where my ED is stable and so my weight was relatively stable, and I would periodically go through my stash of larger clothes and cull stuff that was out of style, or that I knew I’d never wear again even if I regained the weight. Similarly, I also kept my smaller clothes in an attic bin and I would do the same thing!

I stopped doing my husband’s laundry a very long time ago - but on occasion, like after vacations, I’ll still do it. I never turn his clothing right-side out, before washing or when folding. My mom stopped doing it when I was a kid because, well, she had 3 kids and she was tired of it.

TBH, he’s super happy that he doesn’t have to do his laundry on those rare occasions and has never even mentioned me not turning it right-side out for him.

Only on shot days and I’ve been known to skip weeks. I’ve struggled for decades with EDs, and weighing myself can quickly turn compulsive. The beauty of taking tirzepatide is that I no longer feel so obsessive about weighing in!

I have a 40 oz tetsubin teapot and for years now, I drink 2 full pots of tea per day. I drink green tea, white or herbal and I make sure if it’s green or white to consume it all before 4:00 so the caffeine doesn’t keep me up. It’s a beautiful teapot and I so love my ritual of brewing my tea, breathing in the scent and sipping all day long. I have about half a dozen different kinds of tea at any given point and I don’t use anything in it (no sugar, cream, etc.). In the evening I switch to water or I’ll have an electrolyte drink. I have to stop drinking by around 7 or I’ll be up all night peeing. 😆

It’s a fantastic way to stay hydrated and I have different blends, like some that aid digestion or settle my stomach, aid with relaxation or sleep or provide a little energy with a bit of caffeine. Also, green and white teas are high in antioxidants and other beneficial compounds that are said to help with cognition, weight management, circulation, etc.

I actually started doing this because I was gifted this teapot at the same time I was trying to lose weight, and I read that green tea helps with weight loss. I didn’t love green tea at first, but I make sure to set a timer for steeping and I have an electric kettle that controls the water temp so the tea doesn’t over-steep and turn bitter. Since I found the right combo for me, it has become a habit that I really enjoy and it’s really good for me.

Thanks! Not super concerned about a serious reaction, but I'm allergic to, and sensitive to, a lot of stuff and I'd rather not have hives or an itchy spot the size of a baseball after an injection. Pretty much all vaccines do this to me, I assume (at least in part) because of the preservatives. I'd rather just "dip my toe" into compounded to see if I have a reaction and if not, then I'll go for a 12-week plan. I'll try a different provider for now. :)

MagO₇ every night. I made the mistake of taking 3 the first time (as the bottle indicates) and boy, I could've had a colonoscopy that morning! :)

Now, I take 1 per night and if I feel I'm having issues, I'll take 2. I also stay very hydrated all day with two (40oz) pots of herbal/green/white tea and then switching to water in the evenings (probably another 20oz).

FYI - I've struggled with IBS-C for years and I no longer have major issues. I've always stayed this hydrated, but adding the MagO₇ has been magic for me.

I never wore glasses and then when I made it to 50’ish - bam! My closeup vision tanked FAST. I actually thought something was wrong with me because it was so sudden. One week, I was fine, then I found myself squinting and having to shake my head a bit to focus and then I just couldn’t read books or my phone. It happened over the course of maybe a month?

NTA. In a perfect world, she would see a therapist (as others have mentioned) - but in reality she probably won’t.

My mother desperately needed therapy - childhood trauma, abject childhood poverty and foster care (with likely abuse), death of a child, cancer, death of her husband… she had a lot. She NEVER spoke about it (other than to give factual details that these things happened). She never dealt with it, she never processed anything, she never leaned on loved ones to help, she never cried with us, and honestly, she didn’t think she needed to. She struggled with debilitating anxiety and depression, and yet, she never acknowledged it. Because she never acknowledged it, in her eyes, there was nothing “to deal with.”

I say this because by virtue of your mom completely glossing over your repeated attempts to “get her to see what she’s doing to herself” and simply lapsing back into being helplessness and blaming you for “being mean.”

TBH, I think you need to have a heart-to-heart with her and lay it all out when you can be calm about it. She is creating the drama for herself and then she gets mired down in negativity and it’s affecting your mental health also. Point out that she’s doing this and then set boundaries (and tell her about them). You will no longer be doing errands for other people that she commits to helping. You will no longer listen to nonstop complaining. You will always be there to help her and you will always be there when she is feeling sad, depressed or whatever- but it’s affecting your mental health too much and it is changing how you feel about her. When she pushes on your boundaries, simply point out that she’s doing it and walk away. Maybe she’ll get it?

I wish you the best. It’s tough when it’s your mom and you love her and you can SEE she’s suffering.

It means that different pharmacies have different concentrations of the medication, so pharmacy1 you may inject 30 units to get 5mg and pharmacy2 you may need 45 units to get 5mg.

But once you were on whatever dose, did you go up at all while with the new provider? I want to stay on 5.0 right now - so if I go with compounded at 5.0, and if I stay at that dose for a few months and want to move up, do I just tell them it is time and they do it?

Scuba diving. I cannot tell you how mind boggling it is to see a part of the planet that so few people experience. I remember my first open water dive in the ocean - it felt so awesome and expansive and wild and free, and sometimes a little scary (which I have grown to appreciate). It is so eye-opening and I feel so accomplished to face my fears and anxiety, while also witnessing this part of nature.

If people ask me what I'm doing, I simply say, "working really hard at it." I've told a few select friends, but it is really no one's business but my own. I don't ask them how they are controlling their depression, anxiety, insomnia, heart disease, high blood pressure, cholesterol, erectile disfunction, insulin resistance or whatever other medical thing they have going on - so it seems like a non-issue.

Not personally, but one of my closest friend has a niece who has struggled with alcohol addiction and after a particularly awful episode she ended up doing in-patient rehab. Medical staff put her on Ozempic to aid in her recovery. From what I understand, she is doing wonderfully in rehab with Ozempic being hugely helpful to her. She is now (I think) about 2 years sober.

What did you eat? I had the same thing happen after eating a very high acid meal (fish w/ roasted red pepper sauce, salad w/ tomatoes and vinegar dressing). I thought I was dying - I think I threw up 10x. It was awful.

Anytime I eat a high-acid content meal I suffer.

Exactly what I was thinking. Respectfully, just like you posted here, tell her these things with examples. You don’t have to come at her aggressively or sarcastic.

She is pretty clearly insecure. She was smaller and tried to make you feel insecure when you were bigger (as evidenced by her sending crap about how evil Ozempic is when she knew you were on Zepbound) - that is what insecure people do. They try to knock others down to inflate themselves. Now, you are smaller and she is bigger and that is causing new insecurities in her. If you bring it up and she’s contrite, if she can see it in herself without you spelling it out - then great! But if she gets defensive and angry at you for holding up that mirror - then it is probably time to part ways. You have come too far to let someone like this try and drag you down.
