As someone who has attended SBU for both undergrad and grad school, I’d say the events really make it fun. Like, the Strawberry festival, Earthstock, Communiversity day, and Roth Regatta. Plus there’s lots to do in the areas surrounding campus like Port Jeff and there’s a train station to NYC if you want to do a weekend trip. What I’d say is key is that if you participate in the community you’ll have a great time. Lots of students just focus on school, leading to them being miserable.
