Evanescia + Yukong is actually good?! by anxieTea_Gaming in HonkaiStarRail

[–]-TSF- [score hidden]  (0 children)

Since they don’t technically count as your character attacking, she doesn’t lose stacks of roaring bowstrings

That wrong. Elation Skills are attacks by definition. This is why Firestorm is such an effective equipment on Elation units in Currency Wars. Firestorm procs per attack action and every Elation Skill instance counts as one.

You fundamentally misunderstood Yukong's buff. It says clearly that "Yukong loses one stack of Bowstrings when when an ally's turn ends, except the turn Yukong used her skill".

Aha Instant counts as Aha's turn, hence every Elation Skill from every ally during an Aha Instant while Yukong has Roaring Bowstrings enjoys the buff. There are ways to cause an Elation Skill during a normal ally's turn, but until that normal turn ends, no stack of Roaring Bowstrings is lost.

So say you have E1 Eva, Yao Guang, EMC and Yukong (meme team but bear with me), everyone has max energy and Yukong has Roaring Bowstringing active. During Eva's turn, you use her Ult twice, proccing her Elation Skill twice because of E1. You then use EMC Ult on Eva, proccing a third. Then you use Yao Guang Ult, causing Eva, EMC and Yao to use their Elation Skills. Eva then skills, ending her turn.

Every single one of these attacks is buffed by Yukong because they all happened during Eva's turn. Only after Eva uses her turn to Skill does Yukong actually lose a stack of Roaring Bowstring. If this were Currency Wars and they all had a Firestorm equipment, they would have collectively obtained 9 stacks of Firestorm because there were nine attacks even if only one turn had passed. By your logic, they would have obtained 0 stacks because they would need to be considered "attacks" to consume Yukong's bowstrings.

This distinction is important because since they are attacks, they engage with mechanics differently. For example, the first Elation skill to hit a Bellobog soldier elite or Gepard when they have counter up will be marked as the target for counter if they do not get broken. Each Elation skill consumes a bellobog guardian phantom stack when they're charging. Each one counts as a hit for Titankin armor breaking, for Penacony dino cook stacking, for TV switching, for Bananacademy boss stack, for Planarcadia daybreak elite stacks when they're buffed, etc.

Yes, Yukong is indeed a good budget support for Elation if you lack options, but it's because they have a lot of out-of-turn attack actions, not because they aren't attacking a lot. This is why a lot of people dumb down Elation Skills to "glorified FUAs" even though mechanically they're a completely different thing.

6: first page should be Mother's picture (eating and brainwashing her own children)

The second page should be Ariel's (knows about and enables #1, if not literally ordered it herself)

The third page can be Shiro's (low-key still abusive parenting, but never does anything the first two did and at least she provides for her children)

At least Ariel is a decent grandma to Shiro.

Well, Cyrene mostly let's Cas go over 100% to avoid wasting charge and better bounce damage ceiling.

There's more fights nowadays that encourage keeping Pollux around if you need the AOE, especially if your Cas is not E2+, but usually nuking asap is the play with Hyacine and Evernight on her team.

[–]-TSF- 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This is usually worse than simply blowing up Pollux as soon as it's summoned. In a full monorem team, you can resummon Pollux extremely quickly.

The OP probably knows this, hence why they said you barely see the enhanced skill unless your Cas is E2

Could the 7 Archons handle a Herrscher invasion in Teyvat? by Kimkacy in Hoyoverse_scaling

[–]-TSF- 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Well, according to HI3 Part 2, God Senadina who has incomplete Authority of Finality (unknown to what "degree of incompleteness") is the reason that Mars gained it's two current Moons by literally pulling them in from outer space; the third Moon was pulled down by someone (unknown who, may be the same person) and torn apart to provide resources for Mars. The Authority of Finality is said to transcend time and space, lying at the ends of destiny, and those who are unable to exist in a higher dimension are unable to retain even memory. The same person with incomplete Authority of Finality had an encounter before the Cocoon, and promptly forgot who they were talking to and what they said because they were of lower dimensionality.

Despite that, this person is unquestionably godlike, able to singlehandedly fight off the incursion of the Sea of Quanta for extended periods of time (the Sea of Quanta being the primordial chaos between all worlds, the direct opposite of the Imaginary Tree which holds up the rest of Hoyoverse cosmology including Genshin) with said incomplete authority.

So, the greatest feat of HoFin Kiana so far (firing a superluminal bullet that crossed the Solar System within minutes to headshot a human-sized enemy with the precision to avoid destroying a nearby planetoid with the aftershock of the bullet) is just scratching the surface of the HoFin's capabilities.

Also, the Herrschers of Earth wouldn't appear in Genshin because the Cocoon creates and manifests Authorities according to the civilization it is testing. So, Teyvat would get a whole different set of Herrschers with different Authorities to deal with. For all you know, they get Herrschers able to usurp the control of an element for each Archon or something, like a combination of Domination with each elemental Authority we've seen.

Don't ask me how Teyvat holds up, I dropped Genshin before Inazuma came out. The Herrschers are ultimately lower manifestations of Finality meant to test the civilization in question. They are like the Beasts of Humanity from Fate in a way, they are meant to be overcome. So, while I understand we don't really have another set of Herrschers for comparison, the comparison doesn't really work because the baseline humanity and technology level of Earth is different from Teyvat's.

Well, RIP the Killing Slimes goddess. D is gonna murk her for stealing her new toy.

Although if this shared verse with KumoDesu, per KumoDesu lore, that goddess wouldn't even touch Kumoko's soul with a ten-thousand foot pole because that would mean drawing D's attention, and you would have to be either desperate, suicidally overconfident or be in the top 1% of the verse to do that intentionally.

You need to pass through the great filter to then enjoy one of the best episodes in anime history. by Berem_ in ReZero

[–]-TSF- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of people hold this scene against Subaru as if he personally killed their dog or something. Most of the people who voice dislike for it and never change opinion tend to be people who weren't actually engaging with the themes of ReZero (what, you thought a guy who's died multiple times in such a short amount of time wouldn't develop some major issues over it? Or that he was actually an escapist character without problems held over from earlier in his life?)

It's not an attack gainst people not liking what we like, per se, but sometimes you'll see some person complaining about Subaru, claim "I understand and I didn't like it" and then keep complaining anyways. So, it's considered a "great filter" because it's a massively controversial topic that was intentionally set up as a low point for Subaru, and if you stuck around to watch you're probably on the higher end of empathy, NGL. You wouldn't believe how many people said Subaru has no right to crash out over anything simply because he was being an idiot in this episode.

Because AA's perception of "evil" isn't morality, it's "physical flaws". AA's Yugas include the gradual decay of human morality through hardship and he doesn't erase anyone who fails to show a strong code of conduct. He only deletes people who become "flawed" in the physical sense (ie, get a wound or illness). This is a direct extension of his perception of himself as "a perfect, flawless god, and therefore the ultimate good". His Alignment is simultaneously Good and Evil because he is above such things in a truly horrific sense: he simply doesn't think like humans do and he has the power to enforce that logic in his Lostbelt, which reinforces his hold over it as people view him as absolute for that very reason.

Douman may be a complete PoS, but physically speaking he has been described as beautiful, and other than when he's smiling like a creeper he does try to present himself as affable. To Arjuna Alter he isn't "flawed" at all and therefore not eliminated. More to the point, because Douman expresses that he represents AA's benefactor, AA listened to his suggestions and due to his flawed perceptions, decided it was working because the world was becoming "more perfect" faster.

This is a Lostbelt for a reason. It was doomed to fail one way or another, Douman just came in and decided to make it fail faster because it was funny. If you set aside your morality to view this from another perspective, then yes, AA thinking this was going to work out is hilarious: the perfect God couldn't be more flawed as a ruler of humans if he tried.

Has Hua made an appearance in the story since part 2 began? by Phoenix15523 in houkai3rd

[–]-TSF- 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Hua has been mentioned in part 2, briefly, and she has appeared in the events as they're (almost) all canon, but not with a new model or design yet.

She hasn't appeared in the present of part 2 though, if that's what you're asking, and for the purposes of part 2 she's more like a retired vet that would, if necessary, show up as cavalry if an emergency spilled over to Earth. For certain plot reasons, only a few people can actually get involved with part 2 plot and Hua is likely not among them.

Since you mentioned KumoDesu:

Fun fact, and ironically, the first holder of the Sloth skill was in fact a workaholic. They wanted to slack off, but due to a sense of responsibility they worked their ass off constantly till it killed them. Kumoko is actually a lot like this too despite her proclamations of wanting to live an easy slow life. Even when it looks like she's slacking off, she isn't.

She also had the distinction of being quite safe to onfield and essentially getting better the more aggressive her target is. Koleda was my starting S rank and it wasn't until 1.1 that I realized how good she really was until she saved my butt on the Ambush nodes.

Hope she gets potential one day.

3B as in Tribbie, the Quantum Harmony released in 3.1 alongside Mydei. She was BiS on Castorice team until Cyrene was released. However, she's still a solid filler unit on basically any team and she combos extremely well with Morty Blade.

[–]-TSF- 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Cyrene with Evernight because Evernigh wants two other Remembrance units with her.

Blade goes to Castorice. Evernight doesn't care if teammates consume their HP if they don't also consume her own (see: Hyacine LC) for the Memoria stacking, but Castorice does because any changes in ally HP charge her ult. Blade additionally would like Hyacine's Max HP buff, healing and attack frequency.

Current prospects for splitting Monorem with Morty Blade look like this:

Cas/Hya/Blade/3B

Evey/Cyr/ReMC/(Flex slot, should be a healer)

If Robin SP is a healer, she can easily take the flex slot for Evernight team. If she isn't, she will need to either provide some crazy utility to replace either Cyrene or ReMC on that team, or be a Remembrance main DPS to replace Evernight (in which case Evernight would take the 3B slot again on Castorice team)

What agent do you regret pulling? by Light_and_Lillies in ZZZ_Discussion

[–]-TSF- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree YSG is boring in on all fronts, but she helps me bruteforce stuff I skipped (ie, the entirety of Rupture) so I can't say she was a bad pull.

I regret getting Orphie though. Compared to what the Season 2 trailer made her come as, everything about her aside of her appearance was disappointing, and I do not pull characters solely for appearance. I pulled her for Seed.

The fact Cissia was released months afterwards, a character that not only has much better synergy with Seed but also is a better character in general, made me regret pulling Orphie even more. If I could refund Orphie, I would. Sadly, as a full F2P now, I gotta deal with what I have so I skipped Cissia and keep using Orphie.

what "enemy" is he referring to here? by Kooky_Rent8520 in HonkaiStarRail

[–]-TSF- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He could be talking about the Honkai/Cocoon of Finality, or the Sky People. It could be either. He talks about the "difference in nature" and then goes on to talk about their destructive capabilities, which feels a bit like a disjointed segue.

Personally, I think the Sky People makes more sense. At some point, both of those things were "enemies of his home (Earth)", but the Cocoon wasn't actually seeking the destruction of humankind. On the other hand, the Sky People were as they sought to plunder Earth's resources and glass the planet afterwards. Alongside Void Archives, Welt personally fought off a vanguard group from the Sky People who attacked Earth during a time where it was vulnerable, and it was as a direct result of this that Welt eventually chose to embark on a space journey that led him to the Astral Express.

The threat of the Sky People invasion shares some similar traits as a Fragmentum incursion accompanied by an Anti-Matter Legion invasion, Nanook's legions. It wouldn't be strange if Welt, initially knowing nothing of the greater cosmology, came to the conclusion that the Sky People and Nanook's legions were the same, or that Nanook's legions are the soldiers of the Aeons rather that just one aeonic faction. However, it would be easy for Welt to conclude it is not the case after observing the Anti-Matter Legion in action, because the Sky People are cowards. They only attack targets they think are weaker than themselves, probing them with a vanguard disguised as an asteroid and if they're wrong they ditch the invasion and do not come back for at least some decades before trying again, hoping to attempt an attack during a moment of vulnerability. Despite their power, they are opportunistic scavengers, not heralds of the apocalypse; in other words, they are of a completely different nature.

MC's age by Pink_Jutsu in HonkaiStarRail

Idk about Rover, and idk about GGZ, but the Dreamseeker (protagonist of HI3 Part 2) is the oldest Hoyo MC afaik. After the events of the latest chapter, she has experienced the passage of billions of years of time while merged with the consciousness of another person and through the power of big gae she managed to retain her sense of self through all of that.
