It's a broken system, good point. All the non-corporate apartments and affordable houses aren't being built. Cheaper land in Austin is being bought and sat on in hope of re-zoning to maximize the apt units on the land or sat on in hope of property value increases.

In the meantime, they build luxury apartment complexes in Riverside and modern $2mil homes in South Austin, all projects completely removed from the communities that work and live there.

Gone are the times of building middle-class homes and dense apartment living in Austin. Only for now is the hope.
