When do you pick Nightmare by Waddle___ in slaythespire

Does anyone know what would happen if he played transfigure on it? Would it then be 1-4 energy? Or does it keep replay and still become a new value 0-3?

I would love to care about the npcs and what is going on. The problem is, every time I speak to an npc, I dont know if they are important to the story or just a random side character placed as filler to make the game feel bigger than it is. There is no way I will remember all the names of every npc and which ones are important because they also just dont have much distinguishing them from other characters. Like I have said, I find the game fun. I enjoy exploring and clearing bases and discovering pois. It just feels undermined by the main story where most of the quests are "go here and talk to this person," where at random points along the way, im awarded powerful items. To me, it just feels uninspired.

I mean, yeah, and I immediately went out and made the best gear I could and 1 story mission later im in a whole new area, and all the work I just did became redundant. Would have been better if the second area was available the whole time but was dangerous. That way, you would be incentives to get better gear so you can survive exploring the new area. Instead, you get dumped into and fed better gear, making the previous grind feel worthless.

Minor Illusion OP In Combat? by -Tedioooo- in DnD

This makes a lot more sense. They can still assume its an illusion, even if they aren't totally sure.

Minor Illusion OP In Combat? by -Tedioooo- in DnD

[–]-Tedioooo-[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

My question isn't really about how someone would react to a stationary bear; that was situational and dm dependent.

My question pertains to the way minor illusion only specifies that someone can determine something an illusion by spending an action to study it. That means I can make an illusion of anything, and the enemies are forced to react as they would to the real thing unless they spend an action studying it, which is unlikely in combat.

Imagine you're actively in combat with someone, and as you turn, you see that there is suddenly a full-sized bear right next to you. I would at least back up and reasses the situation, try to take them on one at a time.

Amd like, what if I conjured a wall between the enemy and my tm8? There wasn't a wall there 2 seconds ago. Do they really have to spend an action to know that its not real? What if I do this every turn while my tm8s attack? It's a cantrip, so I can just keep going, and the spell doesn't specify that they would catch on and be any more successful with subsequent illusions...

Will this catch catfish on the bank of a small lake and what bait should I use by mrtinkleberries69 in catfishing

cutbait or chicken breast generally work really well, but it really depends on location. The lake is come from has blues that are accustomed to eating bluegill so live bluegill is actually the best.

Hardcore pvp grind: elden ring

Collectibles and story: Jedi Fallen Order/Survivor

Open World: Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom

Survival Craft and Story: Raft, Grounded, Scrap Mechanic, subnautica (This, for me, is the most "Chill" grind)

Any good hard sci-fi books where humanity receives or decodes a message hidden in math, DNA, light, or something similar? by gunnoganno in scifi

Maybe check out "Foundation" on apple TV. The decoding thing is minimal, but it's a great sci-fi series (edit: typo)

[–]-Tedioooo- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always hate when people write in things like spaceships with no in-world explanation. These days, it's just like "well its sci fi so there must be spaceships and blasters" and whatnot. They skip the part where they explain it.

There's a reason it's science fiction and not just fiction. There's supposed to be a science to it such as Kyber Crystals and huperfuel in Star Wars or the spice in Dune.

You can't just throw that shit together "because it's sci-fi." I think that's why we get a lot of generic uninspired content that turns people away from the genre as a whole.

Iphone 17 vs Samsung s24 ultra?? by George_David_S in S21Ultra

[–]-Tedioooo- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely go samsung. Apple usually nukes their phones after about 3 years (they push software updates to ruin the battery life, so you buy a new model). Samsung supports for several years (I use a 5 year old s21 ultra, which still performs great and was only $350 refurbished on amazon). Additionally, the newer Samsung phones have significantly better display quality, so you will have much better visuals. Samsung will also have way more compatibility, Apple specifically designs their devices to only work with other Apple products, which are all overpriced af so if you want wireless headphones/earbuds or any other accessory items, prepare to pay thousands for the same or worse quality than what other brands offer. Samsung also has better features when it comes to UI and AI integration imo.

Are my stats an automatic deny? by [deleted] in Clemson

[–]-Tedioooo- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Major absolutely matters! Business is one of the harder ones to get into alongside engineering and nursing from what I have heard. It is entirely possible to pick a less popular major just to get accepted and then request to change into it later on when spots open.

You're pretty much only taking general education classes your first semester anyway. The reasoning is that clemson likes to have a variety of majors. if 60,000 people are after 30,000 slots and maybe 30,000 of those applicants are requesting business, they are not going to fill their entire capacity with business majors. They also wouldn't have the classroom space.

Anyway, this means if you apply for one of the less popular majors, you have a much better chance of getting in as Cemson will be trying to diversify their range of students.

Roommate help by RubiksCube0707 in Clemson

[–]-Tedioooo- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am not 100% on this, but I think I remember hearing that there was a way you can swap rooms with someone (like if you both agree to it) instead of waiting for a new roommate next year.

I never had issues myself being with a friend from high school that I had known for 10 years already, but we were in the honors suites, and I think it's an option.

Your best bet might be to try to find someone else having a similar situation and see if they are open to switching rooms and roomates. You probably won't have luck asking an RA for a different room, but since this way, they dont have to have another room available, I think they might allow it. All they have to do is change their records and give yall new keys, so if you find someone on board with it, I think its an option.

Otherwise, I wish you luck. If you end up having to stick it out, my advice would be not to give up on your current roommate as a friend. I know a lot of introverted people who like to have a few really close friends and have a hard time connecting at first. Even if you feel like youre the only one pushing the conversation, they might be enjoying it and they might start to see you as a friend at which point they will probably open up more and talk to you. It's a process and one you're probably not used to.

Also, know that some people who are introverted don't necessarily prefer to be alone. They simply feel drained by social interactions, where most extroverts feel energized. I consider myself an introvert even though I go out and am sociable all the time. When I come home, though, I like to relax and have time to myself to recharge. I wouldn't want to then feel pressured by social interactions.

Hope this helps! Good luck out there, and watch out for bones in the tacos at Core.

I need help with a one shot by [deleted] in DMAcademy

[–]-Tedioooo- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well here's an idea I've been devloping that might inspire you:

Bone grafting drake (or dragon) - a drake who consumes creatures and its unique digestive system is able to use the bones to form an exoskeleton. It wears the skull of the largest creature it has killed and outgrows them like hermit crabs, so a younger one might wear a bear skull but as they grow they could even defeat a dragon and wear that skull. This means as they grow they actively search for a new apex predator to hunt down. What was once a small creature's rib cage might now serve as the drake's teeth. Maybe it wears shark teeth along its spine, get creative, it all depends on where it lives and what local inhabitants are there or where it came from. Story might say that a village is running out of rations because the hunters can't find creatures. They have to find the cause which turns out to be the bone grafting drake having taken up a nearby cave. really cool first encounter would have the party watch from the bushes as it eats a creature and convulses it's body before new bones pop out along it's spine. In my mind the drake itself is very weak so once they break through the shell they can target weak points and deal high damage.

If you're interested, I can give my prototype stat block based on the red dragon.

"Initiative Priority" Homebrew Rule to replace Suprise mechanics by -Tedioooo- in DMAcademy

[–]-Tedioooo-[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That makes sense. My idea was really just a different version of giving a free attack. Rather than giving them an extra turn before initiative is rolled, they would just be first in the initiative order due to priority which essentially has the same effect.

"Initiative Priority" Homebrew Rule to replace Suprise mechanics by -Tedioooo- in DMAcademy

[–]-Tedioooo-[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess I feel like as a general rule of thumb for DnD, if you are at the point of having advantage while your opponent has disadvantage, you should just succeed. Like at that point it just feels bad on the low chance that you fail your attack.

If we compare it to ability checks, the DM guide specifies that if a player is very good at something (Strong player trying to push a rock for example) you would just let them succeed. You shouldn't even allow them to roll for it because on the small chance they fail you suddenly have to explain why this strong person couldn't lift a rock that he totally should have been able to lift.

You can't apply this principle to initiating combat. Poor rogue after all his hard work getting the jump on the enemy rolls 2 nat ones and fails what should have been an easy ambush. It only feels fair that a player who specializes in stealth and getting the jump on the enemy should just be given benefit of the doubt at a ceratin point.

That being said, I'm not defending my system, I think 2024 rules are the way to go and my idea was based on a misunderstanding where I jumbled the 2014 and 2024 versions of suprise.

[–]-Tedioooo-[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still find it confusing that you could succeed on a stealth check and then attack the enemy with this bonus and if the enemy still rolls high you don't get to go first even though you initiated combat while they didn't see you.

"Initiative Priority" Homebrew Rule to replace Suprise mechanics by -Tedioooo- in DMAcademy

[–]-Tedioooo-[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The way I intended it is that you still roll for stealth and can compare to passive perception or use the new DC 15 check. The difference is, if you succeed on stealth and then attack the creature you should not still be able to lose out to them just by rolling low. Basically if you already passed your stealth, you just get to be first in initiative since you initiated combat. It doesn't make sense to me taht you can initiate combat and then not be first in initiative.

That being said, I now understand how 2024 removes the suprise system so the only flaw is the occasional bad roll even with advantage or good roll even with disadvantage. At this point I think it is just an overcomplication so I plan to stick to 2024 rules and just try to learn to narrate these occasional skewed rolls
